Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 21

Location: Boston, USA.

Nathan was gobsmacked.

She was the least expected on his list. He’d made a mental picture of some strange girl. The figure before him however proved him wrong.

“hey!” Grace smiled wryly. She sat on the only available chair which was opposite Nathan. Something just wasn’t right. Grace had been his friend foq quite a while. He hadn’t seen her with the bracelet neither had she ever spoke about it. He shrugged. Their gaze met, they continued staring at each other for seconds before Nathan shifted his gaze.

“how did you get the bracelet? He asked out his curiousity.

The question struck Grace like a cold bomb. There was no way she would tell him she wasn’t the real owner of the bracelet. She’d read the mag with great ecstasy. She was very sure the bracelet was left in his room after the party. Elvis happened to ask her about the date, she was granted access after guessing correctly. She didn’t know the lady whose thunder she stole and didn’t want to know either. Whats important is she was here with Nathan. She’d put a wool over his face. Hook line and sinker!

“i bought it” she lied through her teeth.

Nathan wasn’t satisfied with her answer.

“where…..”

“can we eat please? She smartly interrupted before he bombard her with questions an eight-ball can’t answer.

Nathan sighed. “yeah sure”

He dished out her portion before getting his. The fried rice garnished with chicken, pepper and all. Almost lost its temperature. It was served three hours ago.

“open your mouth” Grace instructed happily. He obliged though it was against his wish he wasn’t there for romance of any sort. She emptied the fork full of rice in his mouth. He chewed it like he’d puke in the next minute.

They continued eating while the cloud of silence between them grew thicker. The only audible sounds were the clanging of cutlaries.

Jenny tried in futility to console her friend with the most soothing of words she could make up.

Letty was adamant to Jenny’s palaver. How foolish she was to have count her chicks before they were hatched! She was happy, basking in an affluence of euphoria only to have her plans pea shaped. God! She’d never been this embarrassed in her life. She’d make herself appear a desperado just so the bouncer would hear her out and perhaps pick out the truths in her explanation. Oh how wrong she was! He practically pushed her out of the eatery. Not even a sturborn goat deserve the treatment she got. It was all her fault! Why did she go there in the first place? If only she remained at home what happened wouldn’t have happened. She removed her stiletto, falling on the bed. Streams of hot tears partied her eyes. Ruining her make up. Make up?! Who really cared! Infact she wouldn’t wear any make ups again. Her heart ached badly, her mind seemed to have great affinity for bad moments.

She couldn’t take the evil pictures out of her mind. A reminisce of what happened alone attracted more tears to her once neatly dressed bed sheet.

Jenny placed a hand on her shoulder. “stop crying Letty, the bracelet is yours, nothing can change that. Sooner or later Nathan would realise this”

Letty shoke her head in the negative. Sniffed and wiped trails of tear off her face and neck. “you are wrong Jenny. You heard what the bouncer said didn’t you?” she sniffed and continued. “no need crying over spilt milk”

“truth may be tussled but it can never be denied. Truths divides through strongholds till they achieve the right purpose” Jenny concluded in a tone of finality.
