Location: Abuja, Nigeria.

Mr Nwabodo and his wife were in the living room with their eyes glued to the motion pictures displaying on a 42-inches plasma tv firmly gripped to the milk painted wall.

The IGP learnt to spend quality time with his family, they were his world, the only satelite that lite up his dark planet. He use to be a workaholic personified, his wife would always complain about the fact that he found his feet in profession than family business. He’d decided to create a sphere of his time for them, it wasn’t a dime a dozen albeit he was fast adapting. He realised how significant every split second with a loved one was.

The house was however as empty as it was when the couple got married. The notable difference was the presence of maids and a housekeeper. His two children were in the university.

Charity his wife was hitherto lying on his chest, he was uncomfortable but didn’t want to show it. The man had excused himself for a fake pee, he’d return and was now seating on a different couch.

A ceremic white floral plate decorated the table, it was half-filled with groundnuts, mr Nwabodo stooped to fetch a handful of it, his gaze still lurking round his beautiful wife, she was watching opera. The woman could spend the whole day watching tv and still ask for extra time. Sometimes the ageing couple would quarell over it, most especially when it was time for 9 o’clock news.

Mrs charity laughed hysterically, flipping the bird at the television screen. Her husband halted chewing for some seconds, his eyes strayed to the television screen perhaps to decipher the source of his wife’s amusement.

On the contrary, what braced his view wasn’t funny at all! News line was flowing beneath the screen, it had the caption “breaking news”

Nicon hotel experienced a feeding frenzy involving the vice president and other top notch world politicians and economists.

The IGP fummed this was an insult to his reputation and Nigeria at large. What would the world say about security in Nigeria? Damñ it!!!

Charity was tired of laughing, she delibrately faked laughter to get some words out of her husband, he seemed enraged by her outburst. Incredible!

“honey are you okay?”

she asked softly.

Mr. Nwabodo smiled. “yes dear
uh
i mean no, there was an attack on the V.P.”

Just then his phone rang, he made sure the caller was familiar before picking up. He’d been recieving phone calls from strangers lately, much to his chagrin.

“detective bankole sir”

the other end voiced out.

“don’t give me that. I knew before answering”the man was mad. He’d commanded his surbordinates severally to always give him first hand info. Geez! They’ar surely gonna get their walking papers!!!!

“what i’m i hearing about the V.P?” he asked impatiently.

“sir
