Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 26

Location: Boston, USA.

Nathan couldn’t figure out why he can’t stop thinking about yesterday’ incidence. The more he tried, the fresher the images got.

Colliding with a lady wasn’t supposed to be funny, he however found it amusing. Especially the fear smeared on her face during that beautiful encounter. The handsome dude was awake all night, not reading but observing three routines—think, crack his knuckle and smile—. He did little shopping in the early hours of the day, against their outreach, he’d decided to get a parcel for the young lady. He wished he knew her name to make the parcel more personal and special. Dancing to the rock music blaring from the earpiece in his ears, he slammed the last piece of ducktape on the already wrapped parcel.

Nathan gently placed the parcel on a desk, took a few steps backwards, smiling sheepishly.

Elvis shoke his head in disapproval, the Nathan he knew was long lost. He can’t tell the identity of the young man standing before him anymore. Minute things easily blow him off his feet, first it was a bracelet. He managed to pull a rug over that and now bumping into a lady. Mere bumping into a lady! Had become a big deal. Nathan was indeed making a mountain out of a molehill. He’d appologised and still went off his wits to purchase a phone for her! Some people really know how to misuse money!

“don’t you think you’ar taking this beyond its stop?” Elvis asked softly. He won’t watch grass grow under his feet.

Nathan stood akimbo for several seconds before seating. “a token of appology isn’t that bad” he defended.

Nathan was so elated after his encounter with the lady. he felt sharing his experience was the best thing since sliced bread. He’d invited Elvis over.

Elvis on the other found the story boring albeit he couldn’t deny the joy that brightened Nathan’s face as he explained every bit of what transpired. Elvis only chuckled as a reward for hearing the most boring story ever. He’d heard of the mythical love at first sight, was his friend actually experiencing it? Impossible, Nathan never believed in love let alone a charmy one. “do you love her?” he wanted to satisfy his bulging curiousity.

Love? That word sounded strange. No he wasn’t in love. He was just doing the right thing—accepting responsibility for his actions— perhaps thats the mystery behind the re-occuring images in his head. Nathan smiled at his friend. He shoke his head in the negative. Elvis sighed and checked his wristwatch. Just a few minutes to 3pm. “are you set?”

“yup” Nathan replied while zipping his backpack. He’d purchased all he needed for the three-days outreach. The friends stepped out of the room, Nathan locked his door, throwing the key in his pocket.

The noise was getting unbearable. The aura in the hall was deadlier than sahara. Heat pervaded the hall. Letty was sweating midly. She wiped her forehead for the fourth time in 30minutes. She wondered where other students were. The bus should arrive any moment from now yet the hall wasn’t full. She reallx wished Jenny was part of the team, but the stubborn lady refused to capitulate simply ’cause she wasn’t a performance student!

The outreach was open to all and sundry but mandatory to medical and performance arts students. The young lady was still reminscing when a soft touch jolted her to reality. Frightened she turned to see who the ‘thinking-intruder’ was. Yikes! It was Nathan! Her achiles heel. The dude had a way of making her heart limp.

She just stared at him, no words no movements. He broke the staring contest and pried into the enveloping silence. “hi” his smile was like molten magma to her heart. “hey!” she managed to force a smile. “can i seat here?” he asked courtly. Who was she to say no? Even if her heart yearn for it her tongue would surely relay the wrong message. She could only nod. Nathan was amused with her head movement, it seemed like a navigator. She turned it west, east, north, south and north again. He retrieved the parcel from his bag.

“i thought of giving you this
its the exact type of the one you lost yesterday”

“thanks, but i already bought another phone” she lied through her teeth.

Nathan was persistent, after much persuation, she collected the gift. She was actually contemplating to buy a smaller device.

“thank you” she smiled joyfully.
