Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 8

The young man was panting furiously, he’d saw the gates of death in the few minutes Gabriel unleashed his pot of anger and grieve on him. He was sure he’d saw a free ticket to hell. He’d put words together to convince the enraged Gabriel. The twin however was still ready to pounce on him if he don’t get meaningful explanations.

“so what? Won’t you speak? Gabriel asked impatiently.

“follow me please” Jayden muttered, in a fearful tone.

He led the way to Michael’s store room. Where a large safe stood erect, eating up half the elbow room. Jayden had been there a couple of times with the deceased. They’d fun with various weapons, discuss even the most trivail topics. They’d put up the safe to store important documents, deepest of secrets and stuffs. Jayden stooped low, he was squinting through the hole-view in the safe as he turned its round knob expertly. Gabriel watched in awe, hope this dude wasn’t playing tricks on him else he’d give him the hair of the dog that bite him!

The little door to the safe flung open, Jayden stood erect, he was 6’1 tall.

“take a look” he muttered confidently handing Gabriel a bunch of handout. Gabriel frowned. “what’s this supposed to mean?

Whew! Jayden let go of the gases stucked in his throat. Michael was one of the top four members of the dark horses. An underground syndicate established by Mr. Adewale, the boss. Their operations ranged from high profile kidnaps, assassination of top government officials, drug and human trafficking. Depending on the demands of their clients. Their last client was a Nigerian former general, he’d assigned them to oversee the smuggling in of hard drugs. Michael, the darkest horse was given the mission, it was a piece of cake to him, he’d done tougher jobs that these. Little did he know that would mark his very last mission on earth.

Bimley! Gabriel heaved a big sigh after Jayden ended his c–k and bull tale. He couldn’t believe Michael was into this. Pictures paint a thousand words! The handout housed pictures of Michael in different illegal realms. The write ups inscribed in his dairy pronounced it all. The proof of a pudding is in the eating. He’d seen the eating in Mike’s dairy, there were just unbelievable. “the syndicate thinks you are Michael” Jayden dropped the bombshell.

Gabriel was confused.”wh…what why? Yes i know we are very identical but…..”

Jayden caught him short. “your plane landed in Nigeria 11:06AM, you were clad in all black attaire, took a green coloured taxi to a junction, before hopping into another taxi, this time a yellow painted toyota the syndicate were watching!” Gabriel was marvelled, he could never have it, should someone tell him the thinest of shadows trailled his movement.

“what do you want me to do now? Gabriel asked, now scared somepeople out there could tell the number of veins his skin was protecting. “there is only one move left on the chess board, you’d have to replace Michael as a dark horse” Jayden replied in a whisper. Jayden’s words left Gabriel stunned. He didn’t know whether to wind a watch or bark at the moon. Oh boy! He felt in a tight situation like a screw in a metal. His raised brows were communicating with his dark curly hair. “what if i don’t?

Jayden licked his lips in a chagrin. This would be a whole lot tougher than he thought. “this is crunch time, Gabriel. Drastic times calls for drastic moves. If you fail to report in the syndicate soon, the boss would interprete the wrong message. He’d think Michael is withdrawing from the syndicate. He’d go after your family and make sure every soul that knows you is wiped out like flies hitting the dust.” Jayden replied convincingly. If there is anything the syndicate consider so very delicate, it’ll be their secret. Any member who dares to withdraw himself would have to pay with his life, all his family would also dance to the music. Gabriel bite his lower lip as he weighed things. He didn’t have a heart for crime, he don’t know how come his sympathy for others always got the best of him, moreso toying with guns and performing what he read in Michael’s dairy was a far cry from his own kind of person. He rubbed his hands through his hair in frustration. He regretted ever booking a flight ticked to Nigeria. A friend of his had suggested they kill time hanging around in India. He had blantantly turned down the offer. Oh! How he wish he didn’t, perhaps by now he would have been having a swell time with a company of mumbai sexies!

“don’t you want a revenge for Michael’s death?

Gabriel’s interest was picked by his friend’s outburst. Why haven’t he thought of it all this while? “who murdered my brother?” Gabriel thundered in a voice that almost scared Jayden off his feet.

“i can’t place it, but am very sure it was the work of an insider”

“you mean? Gabriel urged him to continue.

“well i know Mike to be very careful and intelligent. I suspect one of the top agents is responsible for his death”
