Episode 10

She sat at the edge of the bed, not forgetting her place, she dare not use her poor body to sit comfortable on the bed of her master, michael noticed it and smiled sweetly.

MICHAEL: You now respect bed as well? Common stop acting funny and feel free.

She was still reluctant but he pull her to sit very well.

BENITA: (she smiled shyly) thank you sir.

MICHAEL: (he smiled back) so tell me all about yourself.

BENITA: Like I said sir, nothing interesting about myself, I’m the first, my parents are no more, I was left alone with Anita since she was six month old, I have been training her since then till when I met your parents and they took over from me.

MICHAEL: How old were you then if I may asked?

BENITA: (she smiled dryly, her eyes were already getting wet) since when I was four (her voice broke the more)

MICHAEL: Wow, all those years how did you survive? I mean how did you manage with the six month child.

BENITA: (she let the tears drop freely) it wasn’t easy sir, I saw hell on the street, at me age begging was suppose to be easy, but with the child on my tender back made it hard, people rejected us, some gave us scorn and hated us for no reason, I have no one, (she was fully crying now) I really saw hell on earth (she held her chest trying to stop her heart from hurting)

MICHAEL: (he moved closer and put her head on his shoulder) just stop talking if the past hurt you so much.

BENITA: (she lift her head and stare at his face) I’m fine sir, (she continue) Anita is very special to me, she is my daughter, I nurse her right from when she was little, there is nothing I can’t do for her.

MICHAEL: Was that why you gave her your chance of going to school? Dad told me.

BENITA: I was just four when my parents died, I didn’t even finished nursery, so what’s the point of accepting going to school when Anita finished her primary and secondary education.

MICHAEL: If you didn’t go to school, how come Anita went?

BENITA: I hustle, I begged, I hawk day and night to see my baby was happy and fulfilled.
Michael was more than shocked, all his life he had dated, met different kind of people but never has he ever met someone as strong, golden hearted as Benny, he instantly fell in love with her, and he could wait to ask him to marry him, mum might not have know but the reason why he was in nigeria was to taste love and get married.
