Episode 26

The next day which was a sunday,was the day we were expecting senator williams …….

we woke up very early in the morning to make arrangement for the senator’s arrival ….

mama femi and nkechi went to the market while me and joke stayed back so as to do the cleaning and every other arrangement … every worker was busy doing one thing or the other for the great arrival of the Senator…..

At exactly 9am mama femi and nkechi were already back from the Market and we quickly start the cooking and every other preparation…..

Chief mrs William and precious were both in the sitting room anxiously waiting for the senators arrival since he said he will be back anytime around 12pm …..

Back at the kitchen we quickly made all the necessary preparation,while precious and chief mrs kept ordering us around ..

before 11am we were done with the cooking and cleaning and also awaiting the arrival of the senator ….

we all sat at the dinning in the kitchen expecting the senator .. . not until joke walked into the kitchen and broke the silence ….

i hear something ooo …. she shouted …

shocked and suprised … what!!! we all shouted at the same time and luaghed ….

Mama femi: come u wan kill person ni … abeg o

Joke: no vex jae

Me: waiting u kon hear o.

Joke: bending her head towards the dinning and spoke in a low tone …. u see ehn i was at aunty precious room not long … she was on phone with someone,so i take style waste time so as to know what and who she dey follow talk …

Nkechi: chai … gbeborun like you…

Joke : thank you … she said jokingly…

Mama femi: abeg wetin u kon hear gangan wey make u shout like that ehn

Joke: u see ehn is like precious is inviting tola over today oo …

Me: looking confuse …ah but i thought it was suppose to be next week saturday…

Mama femi: yes nah,but why has she now chosen to come today…

Joke: ah nah that one i no kon know o…. probably she cant wait till saturday ,you know it been a while they have been together and maybe they see today as the perfect day u know …. she smiled….

Mama femi: maybe,… she turned to me … anyways keji it is also an opportunity for you to meet our dear tola …..

we all luaghed ans discussed alot of things,,we were still on our discussion when we heard the horn of the senators car ……

Mama femi: oh it seems the senator is back ….

Bodyguards quickly came to the house and announced the arrival of the senator to all the workers … we all went outside the compound to welcome him ……

we all got to the compound in numbers including chief mrs and precious to welcome the chief….

he came with three excort jeeps and a police van….

issokay … all this ones have forgotten that is only God that protects and not excort …. i said in my mind ….

Chief mrs: welcome darling …. she smiled and hugged her husband …. i remembered how my mum use to welcome dad then …. precious took turn and also welcomed him with a warm hug ….

Senator was exactly what i saw in the picture … he should be in his 50’s ,fair in complexion,looking handsome at his old age with his pot belly in his flowing agbada ……

Senator: am very happy to be home he said and greeted all the workers …

we all escort him inside the house carrying his bag ….. we got to the sitting room and everyone dismissed to his or her various post ……Senator sat on the couch and ordered for a drink which i quickly ran to the kitchen to get ……after a while i came back with the juice knelt down and offered it to him …..

Senator: thank you …. looking at me seems he is guessing who i am ….

Me: you are welcome sir

Senator: is she a new recruit? he asked chief mrs sipping his drink….

Chief mrs: yes darling …

Senator: removed the wine glass from his mouth … huh isnt she too young for a maid? he asked looking all confused …

Chief mrs: i dont think so …. besides ….

precious cuts in….

precious: interrupted her mum …. young or not she is a maid and thats simple … with a i dont care attitude ….

Senator: must u always be this harsh …

Precious: hmmm … just saying ….

i just stood there like a fool head bowed ….

Senator: whats your name?

Me: keji sir ….

Senator: nice name …

Me: thank you sir … i managed to put up a smile ….

Senator: call me mama femi ….

Me: yes sir ….. and i headed for the kitchen feeling bad …..
