Episode 46

Third-person POV

Casey and Eliana were now in Fiji. In the realm of beautiful, tropical rainforests and yet, she spent all the time lying in bed crying or sleeping. 2

Before her conversation with Harvey, her life was surrounded by the myth of the 21st birthday.

When she will get to her 21st birthday she will be rich, she will be happy, she will be problem-free, she will start living.

And then Harvey took a small needle and popped the bubble she was living in. Because the promise of the perfect future had no place in real life. Reality check.

So now she’s lying on the bed, somewhere on a warm island surrounded by the true beauty of this world, and she can’t be happy. Eliana was mourning because she felt like she lost something.

What awaits her now? What was her plan? Maybe she should’ve signed up for that stupid contract. Now it’s too late. She felt like she doesn’t deserve to eat or drink, She doesn’t even have the strength to go take a shower. She felt ashamed.

Casey’s time on this island was difficult as well. Instead of swimming, tasting local delicacies, and sunbathing on the beach, she had to worry about Eliana, which only fueled Eliana’s deep sense of guilt.

???

Casey was the last person to trust people. Really. She didn’t know what made Eliana run away from home, from the country. Moreover, Casey didn’t even have a phone, so how was she supposed to call for help?

And help was needed because Casey was worried about her sister, whether she would survive if its catatonic state continues for a long time.

“Eliana, I’m going for a walk” Casey announced.

“Okay,” said Eliana softly. She was lying in bed with her eyes closed. It was afternoon.

Casey stopped and glanced at her sister. They fucking needed help immediately. Casey almost ran out of their cabin. She didn’t have a phone or internet access, so it was time to put on a nice smile and find someone who will help her.

The more Casey thought about it, the less it all made sense. Okay, maybe Rafael didn’t start off with clean intentions, but during these past few months, their relationships with the Vincenti brothers changed for the better.

The question is – could she trust them? Could she trust Rafael, Remi, and Milo? She wasn’t sure but honestly, at this point, Eliana will just get sick physically if she won’t get help, so Casey felt like she needs to take action now.

The problem with the “safe house” is that this fucking place was in the forest in the middle of nowhere. Even if she had a phone there was probably no reception here and so what if the food is stocked up here as if the apocalypse was coming if Eliana is not eating any of it?

Casey even found the map in their temporary house. A physical fucking map with no GPS, no pin saying “you’re here” just a simple map. Telling exactly nothing other than “civilization might be somewhere on the coast of the island”. Casey remembered that after they left the private jet that took them here, they landed in the airport near the city, but they never actually went to the city. Someone was waiting at the airport for them and took them straight to the house. It was a one-hour ride, which meant there’s no way she will be able to go there on her foot.

She needed to find the main road and hitchhike, this is why she was extremely glad that Milo gifted her a pocket knife for her birthday. Milo was just as weird with knives, he had a whole collection of them in his room, but this is also why the one Casey received was cool. He knew what he was buying. It was a folding knife, very small, ideal for self-defense. It looked like a key, and it was sharp as fuck. Everyone was angry at Milo for this gift choice. Remi was worried she will hurt herself, so in the end, she also received some basic lessons on how to use it properly. 3

Now it was her only protection from potential creeps she might meet as she was planning to get to the city.

It took her 40 minutes to find a road, this is how far in the forest the house was hidden.

For a long time, the road was empty, until finally, it appeared. A red, old-looking car. A type that you would find in the 90s. The man that stopped was over 70 years old and gave off a very harmless vibe of a nice grandma. This made Casey relax a bit.

“Hi, I’m trying to get to the nearest city?”

“I can get you there. What on earth are you doing here, kiddo?”

“Um… I got lost” Casey said awkwardly getting inside the car.

“What’s your name?” the grandpa asked.

“Casey” she responded shortly.

“I’m Joe. It’s nice to meet you, Casey” he responded.

“Nice to meet you, too. Thank you for helping me out” she said. She was truly grateful.

“Pleasure all mine. How old are you, if you don’t mind me asking?” Joe asked.

Casey actually did mind, but it would be rude to refuse to answer him.

“18” she lied smoothly.

“Alright kid, let’s say I believe you” he chuckled, “You’re American?”

“Yes” Casey confirmed.

“Aren’t you afraid to travel alone like that? I would never let my granddaughter do that” Joe asked, keeping the conversation alive. 1

“Oh, believe me, my family will be angry when they find out” Casey snorted.

“Rebellious phase?” Joe guessed.

“Difficult circumstances,” Casey said, without trying to explain the topic further.

???

As soon as Casey arrived in the city, she thanked Joe twice for helping her out. She was extremely lucky to find a person like him. Because it was a long ride, she had time to think about the plan.

First things first – she bought a phone with the money she stole from Eliana’s purse. She got a SIM card as well. Then she logged on the Instagram and sent messages to Milo and Remi. 1

I am stuck with Eliana in Fiji. We need help. My new phone number: +679 753 6386

Casey was surprised when 3 minutes later, she received a phone call.

They were quick.

“Casey?”
