Episode 38

Ben commemorated and tried to recall who the lady was, or where he could have possibly seen her.

But all efforts to revive back the face of the lady proved abortive.

He asked one of his sympathizers to narrate how it all happened and if they saw a lady with her.
“i was sitting down in my shop praying for customers to come”
began a middle aged woman, who witnessed the whole scene.
“we suddenly heard the sound of vehicles colliding with each other. We ran out to have a look of what was happening and before we knew, we saw a van/lorry sped past us at a very high speed, we never knew what happened not until we saw a woman lying lifelessly on the floor”
the woman paused and shed a tear or two then continued.
“we saw a lady running away, we all assumed she was one of the street madwomen because of the illway she dressed.
We dismissed the thought and focused on the damage which the runaway vehicle had caused.
It was then we realized it was your mother and was already dead from the collission.”
some said, she and the other lady wanted to cross over to the other side of the road but unfortunately ran into the fast moving van/lorry, while the lady ran away.
The van/lorry was said to have sharp pointed edges at the front which slayed her into two.
They never knew who the occupants of the vehicle was and they couldn’t chase them since it was all too late.

Ben and nancy were led back home after crying their eyes out.
Both with different thoughts as they sat staring into space.
The aura that lingers around them smelt of grievance as they were sobbing silently.
Ben sat on the settee, his face buried in his hands and was sobbing silently.
Nancy sat beside him patting him on the shoulder, her face red and tears drop slowly from her eyes.
“i’m sorry”
nancy said amidst sobs.
Ben raised up his head on hearing that.
His face swollen and puffy from crying, he gazed at nancy surprised.
“sorry?, sorry for what?”
he asked in a quivery voice almost in a whisper.
“i’m sorry for her death”
nancy simply said wearing a forlorn look.
“you shouldn’t be sorry, and moreover, there’s nothing to be sorry about”
ben replied and cleaned off his tears with the back of his hand.
“but am at fault, i caused her death”
nancy said shouting while ben sprung up bewildered.
“you caused her death?”
ben asked raising his brows.
“yes i caused it all!”
nancy firmly replied wearing a remorse look.
“what do you mean?”
ben asked frustrated.
“she wouldn’t have been dead, had it been we had children”
nancy replied while ben nodded his head in the affirmative.
“yeah, you’re right, things wouldn’t have gotten messy, if we had our own children, but the deed had been done already”
ben said with resignation.
“but why can’t i have a child of my own?
Ehen?, whats really wrong with me?”
nancy asked with a tone of frustration.
“i guess we need to see our church pastor because its no longer a physical hinderance.”
ben said while nancy concured.
“yes, we really need to see him, we need God’s intervention.”
“when should we go see him?”
ben asked and stood up.
“lets go see him right away”
nancy replied and also stood up.
Ben led the way while nancy followed behind.
Ben drove to their church as they both knew that their pastor lives in the church.
They arrived there in a jiffy and they walked in.
Ben and nancy exchanged greetings with the pastor and they sat down on the plastic chairs provided for them to sit.
“i’ve been expecting you two to visit since a month ago”
the pastor said as he also sat on a plastic chair facing them.

Ben and nancy looked at each other surprised.
“sir! You said you’ve been waiting for us since a month ago?”
ben asked still surprised.
“yes, bro ben. I was shown the revelation a month ago but you both haven’t attend any church services since then, so i waited with the hope that you would surely come someday and its a good thing you’re here”
the pastor said happily beaming with smiles.
“ah sir! We really passed through hell, we were hooked up with one problem or the other, even my wife sitting here spent five months on the hospitalbed, so there’s no way, we could have possibly attend sunday service but well, all glory be to God”
ben said and added.
“but sir what can we do
.”
nancy was saying but was interrupted by the pastor
“all you need is, three days fasting and prayer to conciliate the spiritual bondage concealing your womb to conceive and you would be free”
the pastor said and stood up.
Ben and nancy looked at each other pondering over what the pastor had said which seemed to be the solution to their predicament.

The three days fasting and praying was nothing to ben, he had done it before when he was a youth, so it wasn’t an obstacle to him but what he doubt was;
Would she be released from the bondage?
