Episode 9

She was my life, I met my wife the first day I stepped my foot in Nigeria, she was a receptionist in the hotel I lodged, you see in this whole country I’ve never been close to any woman except Anna my wife, she was my best friend, I thought my life was perfect until I lost her, I wish she never got pregnant, I don’t mind adopting children as long as my Anna remains alive, I want to move on but it is difficult for me, you see me alive today because of Allie and Alliana, this 10months has being hell, I don’t know the way forward either, you see I am a millionaire, I work in an oil company but why do I have to go through such pain? why didn’t God take all my moneu and preserve my Anna, I don’t know how to move on, master Donald said in tears

I was dumbfounded, if I’ve not been there I will be thinking he is exaggerating, I tried my best by talking to him and explaining the reason he needs to move on, I think he was eager to listen to me because he know that I understand his pains, he listened attentively,

When I wanted to leave he held my hand again,

Ava I am so grateful for everything, since you came in I feel so relaxed regarding the kids, when ever I have the chance to look at the recorded videos at the CCTV camera I am always impressed, thank u for your patience even when I shout on you, I know I am becoming a beast but I’m sorry, I hope u will understand and forgive me, thank u for everything, He said,

you don’t have any problem sir, please just pick up yourself and move on, you are lucky u have 2 kids left for u to use and console yourself, I lost my husband and my only child, think about it, are u not better than me?, move on sir, please you are already later for work, I said as I left him there to my room fulfilled, I Know that I have impacted something into someone in need.

From that time I noticed Master Donald changed a little, he doesn’t go to his room immediately he returns from work, he walk directly to our room to play with Allie and Alliana, I see him throw smiles on them, he was becoming more friendly too, like he asked if I’ve eaten, have u taken your nap today? he became more concerned about us unlike before.

Then a day came, it was on weekend so he did not go to work, The security brought in a lady, very beautiful lady,

where is Oga? he asked me,

He is inside, I replied,

(he turned to the lady) okay aunty u can seat down and wait for him this is Ava his nanny, the security man said and left,

The aunty sat down after I greeted her and started looking at me as if I wore my cloth the wrong side, I was uncomfortable, it was obvious she was not happy to see me meanwhile I was very happy when I saw her, I prayed in my heart that she should be Master Donald’s girlfriend and not just his business partners, since I joined them I’ve never seen any lady visit him, the very few that visited him were all men which her his associates,

Go and call Donald for me, she commanded,

I told her to wait that master Donald will soon come out, I was feeding Alliana and I know master Donald will not be happy if I leave the children with a total stranger,

She said I should drop the baby to go and call him but i made it plain to her that master Donald will not be happy if I do that,

she was becoming aggressive that master Donald heard her voice and came out,

Lena what is it? he asked her angrily,

Donald you are sacking her today!

she shouted

what did she do and what right do u have to tell me that? Master Donald asked her

I don’t like her and that is final, I mean how do u feel comfortable living with such a grown lady? I can’t take it, she is leaving today, look at her laps, sack her now, Lena commanded,

my heart skipped, not again I said in my mind,

Lena I am asking you what right do you have to command me on what to do and what not to do, are you my girlfriend? my wife or my advisor? did I invite you to my home? I don’t get it, for goodness sake u are just a mere colleague at work and I’ve tried to be friendly so what brought all these? Master Donald asked angrily,

Lena on hearing that stood up and whined hey body, are u saying you do not love me Donald? look at me well, are u saying I am not good enough? trust me I will take the children like mine, I love u so much Donald, she replied,

I became even ashamed on here behalf, so they were never in a relationship, this is just cheap girl pushing themselves on a widower,

I watched them like a movie as they exchanged words, later Master Donald commanded her to leave his house, she left in tears begging Master Donald to accept her.

Master Donald turned and apologize to me, Have you taken your breakfast?, he asked me

No, I need to take care of the children first, he said,

then he said I should help him with a cup of coffee when I am done,

when I entered his room I was amazed, Master Donald has removed all the late wife pictures leaving only one hanging on the wall, his bedsheets were changed, I did not see the clothes again, this is happening 4months after my first visit to his room, I was so happy to notice it

when I wanted to leave he asked if we can go out with the kids, they were already 1yr and 2months but they have been raised indoors all their life, I was very happy,

yes i know they will like it, they will be amazed to see the outside world, I replied happily,

He took us out that day and for the first time I see a great happiness in Master Donald, he was very happy infact I was surprised,

when we got home he said I should bring the kids to his room, that has never happened, I took the kids to his room and he asked me to give him his phone,

where is it sir? I asked him,

it’s inside the wardrobe, he replied,

I stood up and went to the wardrobe, luckily I found it easily, I turned back to give him the phone only to see Master Donald on his knees with engagement ring….. I almost collapsed…..
