LINDA

Wise men say there’s nothing that hurts more that hearing or telling the truth and to be honest.. It hurts more than you think..I was really planning on telling Tony on the cruise about my secret but i was surprised when Tony proposed to me, the ring he held in his hands was really beautiful and worth a lot of cash.. I was happy and sad at the same time.. I was happy because I too wanted to marry him but also I was sad about this cause I couldn’t tell him about my secret… Any lady would have shut her mouth if she was in my shoes, who wouldn’t want to marry someone like Tony.. I didn’t accept his proposal because of the money he had.. I accepted because I loved him but then I began to get fears about all this.. What if someday, someone exposes my secret to Tony and then everything would be over plus I’m getting married to Tony, so whatever secret I have I must let him know.. I almost didn’t want to tell tony but its now or never, it’s better he hears it from me.

After telling Tony about my real past.. The glow we once shared was out unexpectedly like Nigerian Nepa.. That friendly and exciting relationship were had was broken off just like that, we behaved as if we never knew each other.. After that night, Tony and I hadn’t said or looked at each other at all, not even to exchange greetings.. We would pass and brush shoulders without even looking at each other.. Mr. Finley saw this silent strife going on between us and then he then knew what happened and he felt sorry for the both but he was glad that I had told Tony everything.

A few days later, we returned to Nigeria, we still didn’t say anything to each other, even when Chris came and picked us up at the hotel.

As we arrived home, Tony and I went into the house without saying anything… Cecilia received us warmly but was surprised by the look on our faces.

Cecilia ➡ Welcome back.. Love birds.. Why are you both looking so gloomy?

Tony ➡ Mind your business!

Cecilia ➡ Hey.. What did I do? I just asked a simple question.

.

Tony hissed and went up to his room, I too also went to my room, Cecilia followed me and asked what happened between us.

Cecilia ➡ Linda! What happened? Why are you and my brother behaving like enemies?

.

Linda ➡ Nothing!

.

Cecilia ➡ B*tch please…. I know you’re lying.. And I think I know what’s going on.. Tony knows about your secret, doesn’t he?

I looked at her surprised… Just how did she know.. I couldn’t help but ask.

Linda ➡ How did you know that’s what happened?

Cecilia ➡ Well, while you two secretly eloped to God knows where… Someone had been spreading news about your secret affairs on the internet .. Some of your former clients even attested to that.. The bastards.. I’m guessing Tony saw this on his phone.

Linda ➡ No.. I told him.. I confessed..

Cecilia ➡ Wow… Why?

I didn’t give her the answer instead I showed her the ring on my finger… Cecilia was surprised.. She came close to me holding my hands staring at the ring.

Cecilia ➡ Jesus Christ! He proposed to you?

Linda ➡ (crying) Y.. Yes.

.

Cecilia ➡ Hush.. Don’t cry.. I’m proud of you, at least you stepped up and did the right thing.. So what now?

Linda ➡ He’s not talking to me.. And in fact we aren’t talking at all… I want to know where this is going. I need to know his decision..

Cecilia ➡ Relax.. It’s not your fault.. Give him some time.. I’m sure he’s still sore about all this.

I decided to listen to Cecilia and give Tony some space… After I was done arranging my stuff, I went out to see Regina and my brother… Chris offered to drive me there cause I was now a celebrity.

Linda ➡ You don’t have to drive me really… I can walk there.

Chris ➡ That’s the problem, after that news of you spread out, I’m sure there are some people that will mock you. Its better if I drove you around.

Linda ➡ Thanks Chris.

We later arrived at Regina’s place and she was happy to see me..After exchanging some pleasantries we began to talk.

Regina ➡ Have you seen the ridiculous news about you on net?

Linda ➡ What’s ridiculous? It’s all true.

.

Regina ➡ Yeah but some are exaggerating.. I’m sure Tony has seen this..

.

Linda ➡ No, I told him and now he’s not talking to me.

.

Regina ➡ What? So now he’s angry.. What kind of man is that? How many women has he slept with before meeting you?

.

Linda ➡ Don’t bring that up.. I should have told him about this earlier before going deep into the relationship. Its all my fault.

Regina ➡ No.. Its not your fault.. What was he expecting.. Was he expecting you to bluntly tell him you were once a prostitute before you guys started having a relationship? At least he should realize that Hey.. The fact that you told him is something… That shows you’re truthful and faithful to him..

Linda ➡ I’m just wondering how this went out?

Regina ➡ Can’t you guess? Its Funke Olosho now.. She must be behind this.. So what now?

Linda ➡ I don’t know.. Tony even proposed to me and I said yes.. Here’s the ring!

Regina ➡ Jesus all mighty.. So you told him after he proposed?

.

Linda ➡ That wasn’t my intention but before I could tell him, he shocked me with his proposal.

Regina ➡ Kai…. Well.. Just give the mumu some time.. Okay.. I’m sure he’ll come to his senses.

Linda ➡ Thanks.. I’ll be going now.. I want to go check on Andy now.. Here I bought you something from abroad.

Regina ➡ Thanks friend.. God dey by your side.

I soon left Regina’s place and went to the hospital… Andy was sleeping when I entered his room, The doctors said he was getting much better and that he would be discharged soon.. I was happy about that, after dropping off the gift I brought for him from abroad, I left and went back home.

Days later, My relationship with Tony was breaking off little by little, at first Tony wasn’t talking to me but now he was just avoiding me like I was some kind of plague. Whenever I showed up where he was, he would stand up and leave… I had to tolerate this bullshit for some time but eventually.. I started feeling pissed off.

One Sunday evening, Tony and I were in the house and In that moment I was done cleaning the house, so I decided to take a bath and cool off, after drying myself up, I wore some casual clothes and went to watch an episode of Church reality show ?. Upon arriving there, I saw Tony watching a football match.. He littered the place with leftovers of chicken bones and cans of maltina.. I was so mad I confronted him.

Linda ➡ What’s the meaning for this?

.

Tony was surprised when he saw me.. He didn’t reply me of course, he stood up and went to his room, I just couldn’t let this guy walk out on me, so I followed him to his room. Immediately we got in, I confronted him again.

Linda ➡ I’m asking you what’s the meaning of this? Do you know how long it took me to clean this house?

.

Tony ➡ B*tch.. It’s my house.. Not yours.

.

Linda ➡ Excuse me? What did you just say?

.

Tony ➡ You heard me..

.

Linda ➡ (laughs) So you finally said what you think of me.. Really? How immature.. You call yourself a man.. Just look at you.

Tony ➡ Hold your tongue.. Else I’ll deal with you tonight, SL*t.

Linda ➡ Is that right? What’s stopping you, huh? What? Come on go ahead.

Tony ➡ Leave my room!

.

Linda ➡ Or what?… Tell me.. Were you angry because I told you about my past? Tell me! Did you feel hurt.. Rage.. Huh? Did you?

Tony ➡ Linda! SHUT YOUR MOUTH!

Linda ➡ No I won’t.. Tonight is the night.. We settle things once and for all… What kind of man are you? You weren’t talking to me.. Behaving as if you didn’t know me.

Tony ➡ What do you want me to say? You want to say everything is fine.. Let’s continue.. BULLSHIT!!! You lied to me Linda? And worst you had to wait until I proposed to you… You took advantage of me.

Linda ➡ I lied to you, Yes I did… What did you expect.. I walk up to you and say “Hey Tony, before we get hooked up I want to let you know I’m a pr*stitute so deal with it” Does that sound right to you? Only a shameless woman would do something like that.. I know I lied but do you know what’s like to go through all that.. You think I did this because I wanted to.. Or because it was fun.. No.. I had to do this cause my brother.. my only brother was dying… He’s the only family I have in the world.. I did what I had to do to save his life.. But I didn’t even last long you know why? Because I got this job.

Tony ➡ So you want me to feel sorry for you? It still doesn’t change the fact that you lied to me.. Who knows if what you say is true.. Maybe you were just using that as an excuse to gobble up my money..

I felt those words.. I didn’t know when tears fell out of my eyes.. So all this time that was what he was thinking about… I hated Tony that very instant.. I hated him so much I could kill him.. But I am going to show him his money and wealth doesn’t mean shit to me.

Linda ➡ You’re stupid for saying that… Remember.. I didn’t approach you.. You did.. You made me fall in love with you, Remember.. You tried to force me to sleep with you.. I never for once thought of making my way into your heart.. I did my best to ignore you but you didn’t give up until I was yours.. And now you dare say I fell for you because of the money… If I wanted money I would have gotten it.. You think you’re the only rich fool that has crossed my path… Money is not of interest to me.. You a**hole.. All this time, I thought you were a changed man, but turns out you’re that same old Tony. You’ve just told me everything I need to know.. And I know where I stand right now.. You think I’m going to beg you to forgive me or stay with you.. You’re wrong… If this is going to end.. I’m going to end it my way… Here take your d–n ring ? .. Put it on some lady’s finger.. I don’t need you.. Or your money.. All your gifts, the Ferrari car.. Take everything back.. I won’t stand here and be insulted.. I’m going to get my own money… You and I are done.. I’m leaving this house, find some Looney to do your house work.. And further more I don’t ever want to see you again… Never ever.. Goodbye Tony..

I threw the ring at him and left his room, as I went out, I saw Cecilia standing outside his room, she must have heard everything.. I went to my room, packed my stuffs and left the house.. Chris wanted to drive me but I refused, after that, I left the house and went to the main road to get a taxi.
