Debbie POV

“You can’t find Alex?” I asked shocked.

“Yes, I don’t know what happened I just couldn’t find them” she said.

“Oh my god” I said and ran out.

“Where is my son?” I asked heading to the park.

“Where is my happiness?” I said crying.

“Someone should find me my baby” I said crying.

“Someone should please find me my son”

Dave POV

(In Dave’s house, in Ibadan)

“Mister, when are you going to take me to blessing?” Alex asked.

“Eat first” I said smiling at him.

I feel happy with him, he makes me forget about my sorrow.

“Am done” he said after two bites.

“But you haven’t eaten anything” I said

“My mom and blessing will be worried” he said.

“You must like your friend a lot” I said.

“Yes, she is the only friend I have” he said.

“What about your mom and dad?” I asked.

“I shouldn’t tell you this, but I don’t have a dad” he said wincing.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“My dad died before I was born” he said.

“Am sorry” I said.

“Am fine” he said and I smiled. He is smart.

“What about you?” He asked which makes my smile fade.

“I don’t have a family yet,” I said sorrowful.

He stood up from his seat and came to me and hugged me.

“Am here for you, but sadly I won’t see you again after you take me to blessing” he said.

“It is ok,” I said and carried him.

“I will come visit you when I can” I said.

“Really?” He asked delighted.

“Of course” I said and flicked his nose playfully.

“You are a kind man, I like you” he said smiling brightly.

“I like you too” I said and smiled back.

Just because of this child, I was able to forget about Debbie, am grateful and happy but sadly I will have to let him go soon.

“Sir, it is time” faith said

“You know the way to your house right? I will ask faith to take you there” I said

“No, I want you to take him there” he quirked.

“But am busy” I said.

“You are also going to leave like blessing did” he said crying.

“Ok, I will take you there” I said.

“Really?” he asked. “Yes” I said smiling.

Debbie POV

“Please, have you seen my son” I asked around like a crazy person.

“Please help me find my son” I said asking for help but they ignored me.

“Please help me find Alex” I said and sat on the dirty floor.

“I need my happiness” I said crying.

“Alexander’s mom” I heard someone behind me.

“Yes” I said and stood up.

“What are you doing here? Your son is at home” she said.

“What?” I asked and cleaned away my tears.

“I just saw him now” she said. without thanking her, I ran back home.

My son is back, my happiness.

Dave POV

“Are you going already?” Alex asked holding my hand after I took him home

“Yes, I told you, am busy” I said.

“But you should stay to meet my mother” he said.

“Am sorry but don’t worry I will visit before I go back to Lagos” I said assuring him.

“Ok” he said unhappy.

“I’ll see you soon, I promise” I said and he smiled.

“Can I go now?” I asked.

“Yes, you can” he said and released my hand.

“But make sure you keep your promise” he said.

“I will” I said.

“Please take care of him” I said to the grandma who is their neighbour.

“Ok” she said.

“They both followed me outside, bye” I said and head to my car with faith at my back.

“Alex!” we heard a voice called.

“Mom!” Alex called back.

“That must be his mom,” I said.

“Would you like to talk her?” Faith asked.

“No, it is not important” I said and opened the car door.

“Where did you go, I was worried” his mom said with a worried tone while I froze.

“That voice” I said.

“That is Debbie’s voice,” I said and turned back.

And just as I predicted, it was Debbie.

“Mom, this is the man that brought me home” Alex said pointing at me.

“Who?” Debbie asked and looked at my direction.

Her eyes widened in shock as she saw me.

“Debbie!” I called when she moved Alex behind her.

Wait, five years ago. That face remind me of myself.

“Is that…….. My……. son?”
