Dave POV

“Where are we going?” Alex asked.

“To Lagos,” I said.

“Lagos, why?” He asked.

“I want you to spend some time with me” I answered.

“Ok, but what about my mummy. Did she agree?” He asked.

“Of course, she will follow us soon” I said confidently.

“How do you know?” He asked. This kid and his questions.

“Because I know your mom, she will follow us soon” I said.

“But….” I stopped him. “No more questions for now” I said.

“Ok” he said and put his hand on his mouth while I smiled.

“Good boy” I said patting his back.

I hope she truly comes, taking Alex away from her was the only thing I could think of making her come to me. Yes, she offended me, hurt me but how could I hate her. Especially when she gave me the greatest gift, I could ever ask of, which is Alex.

She really don’t know what she means to me, I cherish and love her. I just hope she falls for my plan and comes back to me. Five years hurts, i won’t repeat the same mistake five years ago. I will take care of her and our son.

Debbie POV

I packed some little clothes, and pick my bag.

“Debbie, where are you going?” One of my neighbor asked but I didn’t answer. All that was in my head was my baby and how am going to explain to Dave why I did what I did, even though I know it may not end well.

I got to Lagos through a bus, took a cab to Dave’s house, luckily for me he still lives there. I was told he is not around and to wait for him. I also didn’t see Alex.

“Nothing has changed, some of my clothes are still here” I said, even after five years.

I thought he must have forgotten about me but I was wrong. That day must have hurt him bad.

“I just wanted to protect him,” I said crying.

When I felt someone hugging me from the back I knew it was Dave so I moved away.

“Where is my son?” I asked and cleaned my tears.

He sighed, “for how long are you going to keep this on. You are hurting both me and you” he said.

“Where is my son?” I said not willing to answer him.

“Am really trying Debbie, can’t you just stop” he said but I didn’t answer him.

“If this is what you want then no problem, Alex is in his room. Am going to give you a chance to tell him yourself that he has a father, or we could take this to court and am sure we both won’t want that” he said threatening me.

“And also if you truly want your son, you have to comply to my demands. Am not going to beg you Debbie, not anymore. Let’s get married if you want Alex” he said.

“What? Dave we both know your family will never support that” I said.

“Five years Debbie, five years!” he shouted while I winced.

“I spent five years suffering, thinking had I told you earlier that it was not lust but love” he said and tears rolled freely down his face.

“That if I had told I love you then you won’t have left me. Five years! I don’t think I can pass through the same pain again especially when I know I have a child. It will be painful, I can’t even think about it because I know I won’t be able to handle it, I can’t.”

“But this time I won’t let you go like I did before, so think about it let’s get married or you lose Alex.”

“The choice is yours” he said and left.

Truly I love Dave but am not sure if I want to get married to him because of his family.

I don’t want to raise my child in such a family but I also want to stop hurting Dave.

Should I accept his demands or not?
