Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 14

No one saw this coming, not even Diablo had prepared himself for such a thing to happen. He might have kept her as a prisoner but he absolutely had no plans of killing her before witnessing her granddaughter’s marriage.

‘Bring her back,’ shouted Thelma.

‘I am sorry Thelma but I can’t,’ Diablo had said to her.

It was after a week when they buried Aretha and Thelma was still in denial. All hopes lost and she was still locked in her room. She had failed Aretha and when she read the letter Aretha had written for her, she had asked Thelma to be vigilant with Nyasha. Now that she was dead, Thelma needed to protect Nyasha from Diablo.

‘She is not taking her death pretty well,’ said Fadzai late that afternoon when Thelma had refused to open her door.

‘Aretha was like a mother to her and up to now I have no idea to how she got hold of that knife,’ said Diablo.

He was still confused but was having the matter investigated.

‘You should do something with her,’ she said referring to Thelma.

Fadzai had always wanted her brother to get rid of Thelma but Diablo wasn’t ready to do that. Fadzai felt as if Thelma was a threat, Diablo just looked at his sister and said nothing. Nyasha on the other hand wasn’t even told about her grandmother’s death, it’s not like she still remembered her because she didn’t. It was absolutely useless to tell her about Aretha’s death since now she was living another life. Diablo left the house and asked Fadzai to keep checking on Thelma. This made her feel frustrated, she didn’t want to babysit her and thought she was really acting like a kid.

Thelma was still locked in her room. She was curled on the floor with tears streaming down on her cheeks. She was still in denial. Aretha had died sooner than she had expected. She thought maybe she was going to work with her to destroy Diablo but now she was left alone and didn’t know if she still had the strength to fight him. Then she had some promises to keep. She finally got up and strode over to her drawer where she took her diary. It’s been 5 years when she last met him and he had told Thelma that God does exist but Thelma had kept on denying it. She had suffered a lot and refused to believe that there was God. What if this was exactly what she needed right now in her life? She grabbed her phone which was on the bed and saved the number in her phone. After saving it, she dialed the number and he was having a sermon with him.

‘Can you excuse me?’ he said to him while getting up from his chair.

He was expecting the call from her and it took longer than he had expected. He last saw her 2 years ago when they bumped into each other in town but she had rushed off without saying a word to him. At that time he had felt as if she was in trouble but she wasn’t willing to open up to him. He was glad that she had finally called.

‘My child,’ he said just after answering her phone call.

‘Father Martin,’ she inhaled deeply not sure if she was doing the right thing.

‘You are troubled.’

When she thought that she was going to be able to hold it in, she broke down and cried. Dear Fadzai was standing at the door listening to their conversation and she had heard what Thelma had said, ‘’Father Martin.’’ She actually smiled to herself knowing that finally her brother was going to get rid of Thelma without hesitation or thinking twice about it. If only Thelma knew what awaited her at the door then she wasn’t going to be that loud. Father Martin waited for her to calm down as he listened to her cries over the phone. He could feel her pain as well and that broke his heart. When Thelma had stopped attending church and when she told him that God doesn’t exist, Father Martin blamed himself for having failed Thelma. He always prayed for her to come back. Now that she was back, he wasn’t going to let her go. He remembered Thelma’s parents. How they dedicated their lives to God? How Thelma used to participate in church. When she told Father Martin that she wanted to be a sister and he could just smile at her.

She cried because of the pain she had been holding on to for years. She cried because she had failed her parents, because of so many bad things that she had done, the innocent lives she took and by being the devil’s follower. Now more than ever she wanted to repent, she wanted to save her little brother from him. She wanted to save Nyasha from him. She finally calmed down after having cried for minutes. She was finally calm and wiped away the tears. She didn’t feel better but she felt at ease after pouring her heart out.

‘Are you ready to talk?’ he asked with a hint of warmness in his voice.

‘Yes.’

‘I would like to meet you in person,’ he said to her.

It was going to be impossible for her to leave the house but she was going to leave. She told Father Martin that she was going to be at the church in few hours’ time. She hanged up and Father Martin went back to his office. He was still sitting on the chair reading the bible.

‘Is everything okay?’ he asked as soon as he sat on his chair.

Seeing how restless he had become, he smiled weakly.

‘I will be fine Shane,’ he said to him and they continued with their bible study though his mind was somewhere else knowing very well that it was going to be extremely hard for Thelma to leave the house.

Thelma was leaving the house; oh no she wasn’t coming back after meeting Father Martin. She was tired working for Diablo and Aretha’s death had made her make her final decision about leaving the league. Another thing, she wasn’t telling Diablo or anyone about it. So this is what Thelma did, she put all of her belongings in her big suitcase. She was going to leave once Fadzai was out of the house. Fadzai on the other hand had already called Diablo letting him know that something was up with Thelma. Diablo was actually driving back to the house in an attempt to stop Thelma if she was up to something not good. Thelma finished off packing her things and lifted her big suitcase. She walked out of her room and Fadzai had hid herself. Thinking that Fadzai had left the house, Thelma rushed to her room and grabbed her suitcase. She walked out of her room with it.

‘Are you going somewhere?’ asked Fadzai as she stood behind her making her startle.

‘No no,’ Thelma stammered.

Fadzai looked at her and at the suitcase.

…..

‘Thank you for everything Father Martin. There is never a dull moment with you,’ he said as he was walking him to his car.

Sam had taken his nephew to Father Martin. Shane needed to be very strong in prayer and he never missed bible study with him. Father Martin felt so much proud of him and of himself too, at least he wasn’t going to feel guilty for failing one of his children.

‘You are welcome,’ he said tapping his shoulder.

He was about to get in his car when Father Martin felt a sudden pain in his chest.

‘What’s wrong?’ asked Shane.

‘Thelma is in trouble.’

…..

‘Aaaaaaargh,’ Thelma screamed so much in pain when Fadzai was hurting her on her chest, ‘stop it!’ she begged her.

‘I always knew you were too good to be true,’ said Fadzai as she walked around her.

Thelma was down on the floor nose bleeding, caused by the impact Fadzai had done on her chest. Fadzai was making sure that Thelma was not going to leave the house alive. Diablo on the other was stuck in the road, his car had given him problems and he was waiting for the mechanic to come. The car just stopped halfway to Thelma’s house. Thelma tried getting up but she couldn’t, her legs had suddenly become very weak and she was feeling dizzy.

‘I told my brother to kill you because you made me feel uncomfortable around you but Farai is very stubborn, he wouldn’t listen to me,’ she said and grabbed the knife from the table.

Father Martin and Shane had rushed inside the church. The two started praying, Shane just prayed but he wasn’t sure if his prayer was going to save Thelma from being attacked. Father Martin squeezed his hand very gentle.

‘Ephesians 6:10-20, do you still remember it?’

‘Yes,’ Shane nodded in agreement.

‘As prayer warriors, we must remember that no matter how hopeless a situation may appear to us. God gives us power in prayer to do something about it. If you long to be a mighty warrior, to do great things for the Lord, and to win the world for Him, then remember that your power is in your prayer life. And the prayer of faith will save the one ailing, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he might be the one having committed sins, it will be forgiven him. You are very stronger than you think Shane and right now your prayer will save your sister Thelma. do you believe in yourself?’

‘Yes, I do.’

‘Do you belive in your prayer?’

‘Yes, I do,’ he quietly said.

‘Do you?’

‘Yes, I do,’ he shouted.

‘Then lets continue praying and save Thelma.’

They continued praying and Shane this time around felt as if something had chaged within him. The doubts he had before, the non-self confidence had gone and the fear of what lay ahead had vanished. He prayed like he had never prayed before. He could feel the stranger air filling the room and the suddenly change of weather.

Diablo had leaned on his car when he saw the wind and knew something was wrong.

‘Are you done?’ he asked the mechanic.

‘Almost.’

‘Be fast.’

Thelma was still down on the floor and Fadzai was talking to her.

‘I will just tell him that it was an accident,’ she said and was about to stab Thelma when she got hold of the knife.

‘What?’ that was Fadzai very much surprised by Thelma’s sudden strength of power.

‘You will not do anything to me because I am a child of God,’ she shouted at her.

‘Noooo,’ Fadzai couldn’t look Thelma in the eyes.

‘You will never hurt me again because my father heals him from the pain. I am his daughter and I am not the devil’s child,’ said Thelma and she rushed out of the house.

She ran out of the gate and ran as fast as she could without looking back,

Diablo had just parked his car and ran inside the house only to find Fadzai hiding at the corner, she was sitting there as if afraid of the dark. He knelt down in front of her.

‘What happened?’ asked Diablo with a hint of confusion in his voice.

‘I have never seen anything like that. One minute she was down on the floor and she got up. Her power was stronger than mine. I felt so scared and couldn’t look at her. She….she defeated me,’ she said with tears in her eyes looking up at her brother’s face.

‘Who?’

‘Thelma is gone and it wasn’t your Thelma. She was something else. She was his child, our enemy’s child.’
