Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 15

Thelma woke up in a bed and in a nice room that she couldn’t recognize. How she got there? She couldn’t quiet remember anything at all. She got up from the bed and walked to the door bare footed. She was welcomed by his voice as he was singing at the kitchen while preparing breakfast for her. He was busy whistling when she walked in the kitchen.

‘Hey,’ with a big smile spread across his face, he welcomed her, ‘you are up early,’ he said taking her hand.

Thelma was a little bit confused; he had never met this man before. He pulled the chair for her and she sat down.

‘Breakfast will be ready.’

‘Oh she is awake,’ said Shane as he walked in the kitchen,’ I bet you have met my cousin brother Simba,’ he said with a smile and sat beside her.

Thelma felt better when she noticed a familiar face in the room. Thelma had run to the church where she collapsed at the door. Father Martin had asked Shane’s uncle, Sam to go with Thelma at their house and so Simba had just came back from abroad where he was studying a Bachelor in Theology. He was the only child Sam had with his late wife. He dished for the two and sat down.

‘Aren’t you going to eat?’ asked Shane as he looked at his brother who had his eyes on Thelma, ‘She will get choked Simba,’ said Shane with a laugh.

‘Eat your food,’ laughed Simba and that made Thelma smile.

‘None of you said grace,’ said Simba.

‘I was about too,’ defended Shane, ‘he is like that, too much of a priest but you will love him,’ said Shane to Thelma.

Shane said grace and they started eating. None of them didn’t want to talk about Thelma and she couldn’t remember last night’s events. Just after she was brought at Sam’s house, they had prayed for her and she had been delivered. Black substances came out of her mouth and that’s when she blacked out. Thelma ate her food in silence feeling that something had changed within her. She finished the whole plate.

‘Can I add?’ asked Simba.

She just nodded her head in agreement, that’s how hungry she was. She ate the food Simba had added and finished the plate. She insisted on helping him wash the dishes but he told her to go and get some rest Shane would help him. Thelma went back to her room they had prepared for her and sat down. She closed her eyes for a moment and everything she had done for the past years under the influence of Diablo’s poison started coming back to her. The memories were slowly flowing and with each bad memory she remembered, it made her heart ache. She screamed out loud in pain as she sat down on the floor and started crying. Simba heard the noise while Shane had gone out to the bin. He ran to her room and found her seated on the floor crying out loud. He knew what he needed to do, he knelt down and took her in an embrace, Thelma cried some more. He was just there patting her back. When she was calm, they had sat on the bed.

‘I killed them all, I hurt all those innocent people,’ she said to Simba as she looked up at him.

‘Please you don’t have to blame yourself for what happened to you. Yesterday you were delivered,’ he said remembering getting at home and they were busy praying for her.

He just had to join in the prayer. Something within him just told him that Thelma needed his protection starting from last night and although he had wanted to go back to Rome, he was about to stay a little longer.

‘My heart is in so much pain and my brother,’ she said trying to get up but he stopped her.

Father Martin made sure that Thelma’s little brother and grandmother were safe. Even Diablo wasn’t going to go after them.

‘They are okay Thelma. Father Martin made sure that they are safe; nothing bad is ever going to happen to them. Thelma we are here as your family to help you get through all this. You are not alone and the Lord almighty up there will be looking after you in our absence. No need to fear, we will protect and no harm shall come upon you.’

Hearing those words made her smile.

‘Thank you,’ she said wiping off her tears, ‘I don’t know what you did but I feel so much better than when I remembered what I did few years back. But then I feel like there is someone else who still needs my help. It’s just that I don’t remember some of the things that happened in my life. How is that even possible? Am I completely blocked from remembering what happened?’

She was trying so hard to remember Nyasha but just like Shane, it’s like Nyasha was made not to be remembered by anyone who once associated with her.

‘Sometimes the mind doesn’t want to remember what happened but this is not permanent. You will eventually remember everything, just don’t force it,’ he said with a smile.

They talked for a while and Simba was telling her about his life. Well she didn’t have a lot to say about herself except that she was once part of a league. Father Martin called later on asking if Thelma was doing okay and he was happy when he heard from Shane that Simba was taking good care of her. Well he was taking good care of her, teaching her how to read the bible once in a while and praying with her. Thelma was in safe hands and we thank God for saving her life. Now Father Martin felt so much proud of himself, he had managed to save Thelma but he knew the war wasn’t over because Diablo was on his way.

Diablo hadn’t been sleeping for a week now since Thelma disappeared into thin air. Well that might not be the right way to describe her disappearance like she was some kind of a bird; anyway since Thelma disappeared he hasn’t been in a very good mood. The relationship between Diablo and Thelma was somehow complicated but Diablo put most of his trust on Thelma and nobody else. It will be so hard for you to believe this but he just trusted Thelma more than his own sisters. Maybe because every time he asked Thelma to jump, she would ask him,

‘’How high?’’

Now that she was gone, he wasn’t feeling very well about her not being around. They had tried to look for her, even thought that she had left the country but Thelma was no way to be seen. On the other hand Nyasha had become so uncontrollable and Diablo didn’t know what to do with her. One of his men walked in the room and Diablo was deeply in his thoughts.

‘Please tell me that you have some good news,’ he said after feeling his presence.

He was like his second right hand man and he had some bad news for her.

‘I have got some bad news Diablo.’

‘What is it?’

‘It was your sister, Farai who gave Aretha the knife.’

‘What?’ he wasn’t paying attention to him all along but now he just had to look at him.

‘What are you staring at?’ asked Fadzai as she was applying some make up.

She had moved in with her brother Diablo since he needed her to be close by.

‘I want my body back.’

‘You will not get this body back b—h.’

‘You are so evil Fadzai and I hope Thelma will come back to kill you.’

‘Shut you b—h!’ she shouted throwing the water glass.

She almost hit her brother who had just walked in.

‘Farai, what are you doing here?’ she asked surprised to see him.

‘Who were you talking to?’ asked Farai.

He was shocked to see his sister talking to herself.

‘Tell him that you are seeing me Fadzai,’ she whispered in her ear and Fadzai closed her eyes trying to concentrate on her brother, ‘even if you close your eyes, I am always here with you Fadzai and I want my body back.’

‘I wasn’t talking to anyone,’ she lied getting up and strode over to her drawer.

‘I need to talk to you,’ said Diablo sitting on her bed.

‘Ohhh he must think you are crazy.’

Fadzai ignored Linda’s voice and went to sit down beside her brother. Diablo was getting worried about his sister. After the Thelma incident, he was worried about her. He had never seen her feeling so scared before and now here she was throwing things on the wall and talking to herself.

‘What is it?’ Fadzai asked her brother who had zoned out on her.

He didn’t know how to approach her but one way or the other this needed to be done and so he inhaled deeply.

‘Did you kill Aretha?’ he asked regretting asking his sister such a thing.

He knew his sister more than anyone and wished she could just say no, he didn’t want to believe the truth.

He remembered what his man had told him.

‘It might be possible that she killed her and made it look like a suicide,’ he had said to him.

Diablo again remembered what the elders had said to him when he forced them to resurrect his sister.

‘Even if we resurrect her, she will never be the same again. She will never be the Fadzai that you know.’

These words kept on ringing in his head like a Nintendo was alarm clock.

‘What, that’s absurd,’ she tried to act all innocent.

‘Oh please sister Fadzai just tell brother Diablo Farai that you killed my mother.’

‘I know this must be hard on you, you dying and resurrecting at the same time.’

‘That sure was a d–n miracle and you took my body, pathetic. Just see the way he is looking at you,’ she said to her.

‘And maybe you need someone to talk to about all of this.’

‘Yes you need to see a shrink, you are crazy.’

Fadzai got up trying so hard to ignore the voice and Diablo was busy talking to her. She felt as if her head was spinning.

‘You killed my mother because you were jealous of her because she wanted out and because of my body, you killed her. Yes my mother might have been part of this league but she raised a good woman and that is me and my late sister. What about your parents who taught you how to kill? Fadzai you are nothing with those fancy bracelets of yours. You are nothing.’

‘Shut up!’ shouted Fadzai and Diablo was quiet, ‘I fucken killed your mother because she deserved it. I hate you and I hate this body of yours,’ she was staring at the wall.

‘Fadzai, who are you talking to?’

She didn’t see her anymore and now nothing made sense to her.

‘I am going crazy,’ she said kneeling on the floor and started crying.

Diablo walked to her and took her in his arms, whatever was happening to his sister; he had to make sure that she was going to be okay.
