Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 19

Kundai went through the box with Nyasha’s belongings in it. It had been 3 months since they buried Nyasha and as for Diablo he had decided to lay low since now the league had given him a new wife that he didn’t love at all. As for Fadzai they had find a way of giving her body back and Linda was still locked in a dungeon under Fadzai’s house. A lot of things had actually changed since Nyasha’s death. Rutendo had came back to meet Kundai and couldn’t stay long since she needed to go back to school.

‘Hun, you are still awake?’ asked Sandra when she saw her daughter seated on the floor.

‘Ohh I am almost sleeping,’ she said getting up and putting back the things she had taken from the box.

‘Kundai, your father and I are very worried about you.’

‘Why?’

‘I mean I know that the death of your twin sister might have hurt you so deeply and you didn’t need anyone to talk to but…’

‘Mum, I am fine,’ she said holding her hand, ‘you don’t need to worry about me anymore.’

‘I love you and..’

‘I love you too mum. You should go and get some rest,’ she cut her short.

She wanted to say something but decided to keep quiet. She was leaving her room and Kundai was already busy going through some papers. She was working tirelessly on finding out what really happened to her sister. She had been told about Diablo by Thelma but didn’t tell her parents about it. She was busy investigating Diablo, his real name being Farai and his sister’s name was Fadzai, she had found a lot of things about him. What was left now was for her to go after Diablo and his members. Sandra walked inside her husband’s room and he was sitting on the bed going through some paperwork. She just walked to the bed and got inside the sheets. He saw the worried look on her face and placed the papers on the floor,

‘What’s wrong?’ he asked with a hint of worry in his voice.

‘I am worried about Kundai,’ she sounded worried too, ‘I don’t think she is over her sister’s death.’

‘What makes you think so?’

‘She was going through her old things.’

‘Well Sandra, she was her sister and it makes perfectly sense why she behaving that way. Just give her time to grieve. We can’t instantly make her forget her sister, not now and not ever,’ said her husband.

But yet still she was worried about her daughter and had to do something about those boxes that belonged to Nyasha. Since they buried Nyasha, Kundai promised to shed no tear and be strong for herself. She was determined to find out about her parents death and her twin sister’s as well.

‘I am coming for you,’ she said looking at Diablo’s picture.

She finished all she was doing and finally dozed off on the bed. Sandra woke up in the middle of the night; she slowly got off the bed, not wanting to disturb her husband. She sneaked out of the room and her husband was actually awake. When he heard the sound click of the door being closed, he got up as well and followed his wife. Sandra slowly opened the door to Kundai’s room and sneaked inside. Kundai was fast asleep with Nyasha’s picture in her hand. Sandra took the box and when she turned to the door, dear husband was standing there with his arms on his chest. She almost screamed but then dropped the box on the floor waking up Kundai in the process.

‘Mum,’ she said in low voice, ‘what are you doing?’

‘I came to check up on you,’ said Sandra sitting on the bed.

She was actually trembling and her husband was still waiting for her at the door. Waiting for her to come out of Kundai’s room.

‘I told you not to worry about me, I am fine mum,’ said Kundai.

‘Yeah I know. You should take some rest. I will see you tomorrow,’ she got up and kissed her on the forehead

‘Mum,’ called out Kundai when she was walking to the door.

She stopped and turned to look at her.

‘Yes, love.’

‘I love you,’ said Kundai.

‘I love you more,’ said Sandra and she walked out of her room.

Her husband was now leaning by the wall. She closed the door and got startled by him as he stood there.

‘You startled me,’ she said and headed to the bedroom.

He quietly followed her and she could feel his look as he trailed behind her. They got inside the room and she went to sit on the bed. He closed the door and turned to look at her.

‘Do you want Kundai to hate you?’ he asked in a serious tone.

‘What do you mean by that?’

She asked as if she didn’t know what he was talking about. He was getting worried about her now more than Kundai. Her wife was now crossing some certain boundaries that weren’t supposed to be crossed. Kundai was grieving and it made perfectly sense to why she was going through Nyasha’s old boxes. It’s because she wanted to find closure or get to know her sister, Sandra should know better, thought her husband. If only the two had the same mind but then Sandra was turning into something, into someone else and this didn’t at all sit well with her husband who was now worried about her behavior towards Nyasha’s old boxes. He sure should be worried because if it wasn’t for him following his wife, she could have burnt the entire box with Nyasha’s things. He actually saved her from Kundai’s hatred towards her but still she couldn’t understand, hard headed person.

‘What were you trying to do in her room? Get rid of the box? Clearly you didn’t understand what I told you. Did you?’ he asked with a serious look on his face and feeling very much disappointed by her attitude towards to what he had said to her earlier on, she had disrespected him.

‘I hate seeing her suffer. Nyasha is dead and I don’t get it why Kundai can’t accept that.’

Kundai could hear everything as she stood at their door. This time around she wanted to get some water to drink when she heard them quarrelling. She stood at their door listening to their conversation. She heard what her mother had said to her and that hurt her. She had thought she was acting concerned because she was worried about her but no, she had other plans in mind.

‘So that’s why you wanted to get the box out in her room?’ asked her now angry husband.

He was getting tired of her sudden change of behavior since Nyasha’s death.

‘I wanted to burn that d–n box.’

With her mouth opening widely, Kundai was shocked with what her mother had said to her father.

‘When did you become this cruel Sandra?’ asked her husband.

‘Oh please I am not being cruel here. Can’t you see that we are slowly losing her? She has suddenly become obsessed with her sister’s death and you just want me to sit and see her fall apart. Huh?’

Kundai didn’t want to hear anymore quarreling. She walked back to her room and took her big suitcase. She parked her clothes, all of her clothes and took it outside. The two were still busy quarreling and didn’t hear the main door being opened. She unlocked the car and placed the big suitcase at the trunk. She went back inside and grabbed her laptop and all the gadgets she might need, she took the box too and walked out of the house.

‘What’s that noise?’ asked Sandra’s husband.

They saw the lights from their bedroom, Kundai had started the car. He ran out of their room and Kundai had already opened the gate. By the time he got out of the house, Kundai had driven off. He stood there with hands on his waist, not knowing what to do.

‘Jerome, she is gone,’ shouted his wife as she had passed by her room.

They went back inside the house and Kundai had packed her clothes, took her laptop with her and left nothing for them.

‘She must have heard us quarreling,’ he said sitting on her bed.

‘It’s my entire fault.’

He wanted to say I told you so but instead got up from the bed and hugged his wife. But then she was the main reason why Kundai had decided to leave. Kundai must have heard everything that she said about her dead sister, thought Jerome as he patted his wife’s back. Sandra didn’t sleep that night. When it was morning she was sitting in Kundai’s room and Kundai hadn’t contacted them. They had tried her phone but it continuously took them to silence. They were worried about her but she just wanted nothing to do with them.

Kundai had slept in her car and now she was waiting for the restaurant to be opened so that she could get something to eat before she continues with her journey. She was sitting in her car thinking about her parents, she hadn’t switched on her phone yet. She didn’t even know where she was going but she wanted to be far away from them. They finally opened it and Kundai stepped out of the car. She was putting on Nyasha’s scarf, the one she had worn when she went to meet Diablo at the hotel. Just as she stepped out of the car, a wind which came from nowhere blew off the scarf and she had to run after it.

He was walking to the restaurant when the scarf landed on his shoes. He got down picking it up and it somewhere looked familiar to him. It’s as if he had seen it somewhere. Kundai ran like a crazy person, she didn’t want to lose the scarf and hadn’t understood where the strange wind came from. Just as he got up from picking the scarf, he just stood towards the direction he was heading too and their eyes met.
