Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 21

Shane laughed so hard at her. He had never laughed this much but everything that happened on their way at his house, just made his morning. He placed her on the sofa.

‘Shane that’s not funny,’ she said with a laugh, ‘I will get you one day,’ she said hitting his back.

She had even failed to walk inside the house; her legs were trembling from the motorbike. This was something she had never tried before and she had no idea what kind of madness had driven her on that bike. She could have opted for a taxi instead but Shane wasn’t having any of it, he just wanted her to face her fears. Well it wasn’t that much fun for her being on that bike with him, she was scared for her life, typical of her. She could have just trusted Shane because he was very good with motorbikes and there was no way he was going to let her fall, rest assured.

‘I am sorry, it’s just that the way you were screaming and calling out for your mother. I mean like seriously Kundie.’

No one had never called her name with a short cut and it sounded sexy coming out from his mouth. The way these 2 clicked it’s as if they had known each other for a while but they were just still strangers. Maybe because they were down to earth, humble and kind.

‘Please leave me alone,’ she said sitting comfortable on the sofa, ‘I was scared Shane. I will never do that again. You know I told myself, I actually promised myself that I will never ride a motorbike, cycle with someone and just be on a high place. I get scared you know.’

‘You are afraid of heights?’

‘What you saw today is better, you would laugh even harder when you take me to such a place with greater heights, I don’t set my foot there.’

‘Well anyway,’ he said sitting beside her, ‘welcome home,’ he said with a smile.

‘This is a beautiful house Shane,’ she said looking around while sited on the sofa.

‘Thank you. How are your legs?’

‘I feel much better,’ she said with a laugh,’ I am happy that I am still alive.’

‘I was never going to make you fall. Let me show you your room,’ he said.

He showed her the house and asked the driver to go and pick up her car. They walked around the house and even outside were there was a pool and a braai stand.

‘Who do you braai with?’ she asked as she sat on one of the garden chairs just near the pool.

‘Well I used to braai with my friend before he passed away,’ he said with a sad tone remembering Nyasha killing his friend.

Anyway it wasn’t her fault at all, he had killed so many people as well, he thought to himself. Kundai noticed the sad look on his face and chose not to ask any more questions. They sat together but in different chairs as they stared at the pool.

‘Why did you leave home?’

‘Because my mother found out that I still haven’t gotten over my twin’s sister’s death. She wanted to burn the things that belonged to her. I have been trying to find this Farai guy as they refer to him as Diablo.’

‘Hmmm Kundai, do you know how dangerous that man is?’ asked Shane as he remembered the documents his father had left him.

‘I know and I don’t care about that Shane. How many more people is he going to kill and continue to get away with it? If you know this man Shane, I am not asking you to help me out but I need to know where he is right now. I need to find him and make him pay for what he did to my family. He killed my grandmother, even though she was part of the league, she didn’t deserve to die; he killed my parents and my sister. He still has my mother’s sister and you expect me to just sit and relax. Then what?’

‘How did you find all that information?’

‘From people, people like Thelma who has been in the league and some of this stuff; I have my own way of getting information.’

Shane had tried to go after the league but he knew he was never going to fight this battle alone. Here is Kundai having the courage to go after the league, she is alone and doesn’t have a team of followers walking behind her, Shane was just over thrilled by her action towards Diablo and his league.

‘Kundie,’ just the way he called out her name sometimes, sexy.

‘Please don’t tell me to stop this madness. Listen I know this is pure madness and I must be very crazy going after someone who can just instantly kill me but I am not scared of him Shane. Him is nothing compared to the one that I worship. No devil or evil creature shall win over him. I believe my father in heaven will protect me, I have no doubt about that. This satanic thing should end now or never, we are tired of this bullshit and I am tired of people not wanting to believe that we will always win as long as we have him in our lives. I will defeat Diablo not by action only but by words,’ well said, thought Shane to himself.

‘I will help you Kundie.’

‘Shane, I don’t want you..’

‘Kundie, this guy killed my mother and my father was just..,’ with a hint of pain in his voice, he stopped, ‘I just want him to fall Kundie and I will help you,’ said Shane.

‘Thank you Shane,’ she said with a smile spread across her face.

They talked for a while until Kundai went to take a bath. The last bath she had was of yesterday before she left home. The driver had already come with her car and Shane helped him off load some of the stuff Kundai needed for her new room. She finally charged her phone and by switching it on, messages flooded. Most of them were from her mother and her father had asked her to call him. She actually called her father and he was outside the house when his phone rang.

‘Princess,’ he said after answering it.

‘Dad, I am sorry. I could have called earlier. My phone ran out of battery. How are you?’

‘I was worried about you. Where are you?’

‘I am safe dad, don’t worry about me. How is mum?’

‘She is not well.’

‘I am sorry I had to leave.’

‘You heard?’

‘I did and I just couldn’t let her do that dad. Nyasha was my twin sister and I have got to know what happened to her. When mum said that she was going to burn the box, I just had to get away from her.’

‘I miss you, my princess and be safe for me. Please do keep in touch.’

‘I will dad and I love you. Take good care of mum for me.’

‘I will.’

‘Okay dad,’ with that said she hanged up and chose not to call her mother.

For her plans to succeed, she didn’t want anyone to disturb her and not her mother. She wanted to do things in her own way and didn’t want anyone else telling her what to do. She was about to get up when her phone rang. She had placed it on the bed. She grabbed it from her bed and rolled her eyes when she saw the caller ID.

‘What do you want?’ she asked sounding irritated by him before he even said anything.

‘Babe, I have been trying your phone since last night.’

‘Please Leo. I told you to stop calling me. What do you want from me?’

Shane was about to knock when he heard her shouting over the phone. He wasn’t one to eavesdrop but he stood at the door.

‘Kundai, please babe. I just want us to talk.’

‘Talk about what Leo? I told you it’s over between us.’

‘Babe please. I know that I messed up and I didn’t mean to cheat on you with Chido, that was very bad of me but now I know what I want. Kundai we have been together for 5 years. You can’t just give up on us.’

‘Leo this isn’t about me giving up but moving on from people like you.’

‘Can you just give me another chance?’

‘Leo go get a life please,’ she said and hanged up on him.

Just by placing her phone on the bed, Leo called again but she chose to ignore his call and walked to the door. When she opened it, Shane had already gone back to the dining room with the tray of food. She walked downstairs and saw him eating his apple.

‘Hey,’ she said.

‘Hey.’

‘I need to go somewhere but I will be back shortly.’

‘Alright,’ Shane responded and he didn’t want to ask where she was going.

He just thought maybe she was going to meet her boyfriend. Kundai walked out of the house to her car which had been parked at the garage. Shane had actually filled a full tank; she was never going to buy fuel again. She got inside the car and drove out of the yard. She was going to meet the guy who was giving her information about Diablo at the bar. They had decided to meet at the bar where no one was going to find them or bump into someone that knew them. It was at around 5pm when she parked her car at the bar and walked out. Her informant was already waiting for her inside. The guards at the entrance didn’t ask anything, they had gotten used on seeing her with their boss who was her informant. She walked to him and he was sipping on wine.

‘I didn’t know that you take wine too.’

‘There is so much you don’t know about me kiddo.’

Leo was busy drowning her sorrow in alcohol when he saw Kundai talking to her informant.

‘Isn’t that Kundai?’ he asked his best friend sitting next to him.

‘King, leave it,’ he said to him but Leo wasn’t about to listen to him when he got up soon after Kundai had taken what she wanted from her informant and had kissed him on the cheek.

She was just unlocking her car when Leo tapped her shoulder startling her in the process.

‘Leo what…’

He didn’t let her finish off her sentence. He placed the cloth on her nose and she blacked out. He carried her to his car and she had dropped her scarf just near her car. He placed her in the trunk and checked if anyone had seen her. He got inside his car and drove off.
