Never Lost

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 25

1 YEAR LATER

Linda is sitting at the front row with Kundai as they are holding hands. Linda is feeling nervous about being baptized and so is Thelma who is sitting with Simba. It’s already a year since they won the battle against the league and managed to destroyed everything that made them have more powers. Some of the people died, some became mad and some turned to Christians. Farai aka Diablo died just 2 months after they had won the battle. He was prayed for by the priests and Kundai forgave him for she wanted to have peace in her life.

The two ladies finally got baptized and it was just a lovely sight to see especially the part were Thelma’s little brother congratulated her with some flowers. After the baptism ceremony, they decided to go home and have a party. Linda and Kundai excused themselves, they wanted to have some time together and Linda wanted to go and visit her mother’s grave. The two ladies were accompanied by Shane who just grown fond of Kundai and was feeling so much shy to tell her how he felt towards her. They arrived at the grave side and Shane went to see his parents as well. They separated ways; Kundai went with Linda and the placed the flowers on the tombstone and knelt down.

‘Mum, Kundai is with me,’ smiled Linda as she gently squeezed her hand, ‘you should see her right now. She looks exactly like our own Bertha. I am sorry Ma, I wasn’t able to save you, and I wasn’t able to save my other niece. I hated Nyasha because I thought she is the reason why Bertha left with her husband. I didn’t know that she was trying to save her unborn children. I forgive you mum, for everything you did I forgive you and I got baptized today….,’ she went on and on.

Kundai said some things to and the ladies left the place only to bump into Fadzai on the way to the car, she had dropped some weight and had come to see her brother. They just looked at each other not knowing what to say.

‘Linda,’ Fadzai broke down and cried.

Linda just walked to her and held her in her arms. She had suffered in her care, Fadzai used to abuse Linda when she had her locked at her house. Linda had managed to come out alive but she was slowly giving up on life. Fadzai felt bad just about everything she had done to Linda. Kundai joined in the hug and after Fadzai left the flowers at her brother’s tombstone, she left with them as they drove to the house. They invited her over since she didn’t have anyone to hang around with. After her brother’s death, Fadzai had been trying to move on but just everything reminded him of Diablo and she always cried herself to sleep. The bad part of it all was that she didn’t have any family member that wanted to take her in, not even Leo’s mother. She was all alone in this world and just maybe she belonged with Linda and the rest of the family.

Who could have believed that 1 day Linda and Fadzai will get along? When they arrived at the house, they didn’t make Fadzai feel out of place. They made her feel at home and for the first time since her brother’s death, she felt at peace, at home and she was just happy.

‘Thank you for everything Linda,’ said Fadzai when they were sitting in Linda’s room.

‘You are welcome,’ said Linda as she held her hand.

‘I am so sorry for everything Linda. Just before Diablo died, I wanted to start another league, I was tempted to because I wanted to save his life. I was willing to kill people just to save my brother but when he held my hand with tears in his eyes and told me that I needed to change for him, I didn’t know if that was going to be easy. I last touched the bible; I last went to church and talked about God when I was very young. When our parents made us stop going to church, I didn’t know if I deserve to be his child but then I had to do it for my brother and for me. Sometimes I feel so much drained, I feel like I don’t deserve his help Linda with all those people that I have killed. I feel like I don’t deserve to be called his child. I don’t know if he had forgiven me for my evil deeds. What if I will die with cancer just like my brother? What if karma will eventually visit my address? I am,’ she said in tears.

Linda just hugged, she felt like holding her as she cried.

‘Linda, I am foolish, I have made bad decisions, I block out the news, turn my back on religion. Every time I lift up my head and the world is on fire. There is dread in my heart and fear in my bones and I just don’t know what to do. Maybe I am going to pray, I had never believed in him.’

‘Do you want to pray with me? I want you to let out what you are feeling right now, letting it all out, scream and shout and I will be here right next to you. You are NEVER LOST Fadzai,’ said Linda.

They knelt down on the floor and Fadzai started,

‘You won’t find me in church reading the bible. I am still here and I am still your disciple. I am down on my knees, I am begging you please, I am broken, alone and afraid. I am not a saint, I am more of a sinner, I don’t want to lose but I fear for the winners. When I try to explain, the words run away and I am never sure if you are going to forgive me. Dear father in heaven, I am a lost sheep but I am here down on my knees asking you to forgive my sins. I know I don’t deserve to be called yours but can I have a place in your kingdom. For too long I have kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus and be my savior Amen,’ and then she was done.

Linda smiled at her. She felt so much proud of her, she knew that she was going to be able to do it and did just that. They spent the night talking about random stuff, Fadzai felt well and she actually had a nice sleep. Linda asked her if she could move in with her. Linda wanted her to be strong in her prayer and 1 day they shall be celebrating her baptism as well.

Simba laughed so hard and Thelma kept hitting his back.

‘You think it’s funny,’ said Shane.

‘It’s not but you have been in love with Kundai for months and still you haven’t said anything to her. I told my fiancée that I love her, the minute I felt something very strong for her.’

Thelma smiled, the two were engaged and they had visited Shane who was telling them his story. He was in love with Kundai but scared of being rejected. With hands on his head, he felt so weak. He had never felt so much in love before.

‘It’s like she doesn’t notice at all,’ said Shane and Simba kept on laughing.

‘Simba, come one,’ said Thelma.

‘I am sorry babe, it’s just that I thought he was brave but I was wrong about him. He is scared of ladies.’

‘I am not scared okay. I just love her.’

‘Then tell her the truth,’ encouraged Simba.

Shane wasn’t sure about it but he was willing to try. So that night he invited her over at his house for dinner. Kundai was staying with Linda and Fadzai.

‘How do I look?’ she asked them both.

‘Oh my beautiful honey,’ said Linda, ‘Fadzai did a great job on that face.’

‘Thank you sis Fadzai,’ said Kundai with a smile spread across her face.

‘You are welcome my love.’

‘I am feeling nervous you know. I like him so much and I don’t know if he feels the same for me,’ she said feeling nervous about the date.

‘Oh come on, I am sure he does with the way he always looks at you,’ said Linda sending laughter in the room.

‘You are going to be late for your date. Off you go.’

‘And I can’t believe Leo is driving me there.’

‘My cousin brother is not that bad you know,’ said Fadzai.

‘Okay, off I go,’ she said walking to the door.

‘Have a lovely night,’ shouted Linda.

‘I will.’

‘She sure is feeling nervous right,’ said Linda to Fadzai.

‘She is,’ she responded.

‘Anyway which verse today….’

They started their bible study and Leo complimented when he saw how beautiful Kundai looked that night. He had moved on and stayed in her life as a friend. He drove her at his house. Shane had insisted on picking her up but Leo had already told him that he will do the honor. They arrived at the house and he opened the car door for her. She stepped out and inhaled deeply.

‘Enjoy your night.’

‘Thank you Leo.’

‘I should head back now.’

Shane was already waiting for her at the door. She gave Leo a hug and walked to the door were Shane was waiting for her. He smiled at her.

‘Hey,’ she said.

‘Hey,’ he took her in his arms and hugged her so tightly, ‘you are looking pretty.’

‘Thank you. Thanks to the girls at home.’

He took her hand and walked inside the house. Sam Smith, lay by your side was playing at the background. They ate their food and after some few minutes Shane cleared his throat and Kundai just looked at him with a smile.

‘I think I should do this now before dessert. Kundai I can’t beat around the bush but I wanted you to know that I love you. I ha…’

She kissed him cutting him short in the process. She broke the kiss.

‘I love you too Shane.’

And they lived happily ever after…….
