Episode 7

??IN AGARWAL VILLA ??

“Knock! Knock!” Sanjana walked into her laboratory. “Wow! You have really renovated this place. It looks much better than the last time I saw it.”

“What do you want Sanju?”

Her sister smiled at her. “Dad said I should call you down for supper. The Shuklas are coming over remember?”

“I’m not in the mood to meet anyone nor am I hungry.”

Noting her little sister’s gloomy mood,Sanju walked over to her. “Sanyu, what happened? Why are you looking like this?”

“Sister,I feel like I am going to lose my mind. That man has gotten into my nerves!”

“Who? P.K Singh, your chemistry lecturer?”

“No! My new chemistry lecturer. Honestly I think he should have been Hitler. Do you know he has put some much pressure on me. If I fail this test, the entire class fails and then everyone will hate me. Everyone knows that I am intelligent and if I fail to solve these equations they will think I did it on purpose then hate me for failing them. Tell me Sanju what do I do in such a situation?”

Sanju looked at the white board. “Hmmm those are pretty tough problems,”she nodded her head. “But you are smart, you will find the solution.”

“Sister you’re not helping at all.”

“Okay, okay fine. Look maybe he didn’t give you anything tough,”she shrugged. “Remember Mr. Yashoda,my physics teacher back at school? Even he used to give us the same problems. He would twist the equations, making us think that the solution to the problem is something big whereas it’s not. Perhaps even your professor is using the same method?”

“Sister ever since it has been me. I know that all the chemical and mathematical equations have only one answer and solution but I don’t understand why this one is impossible to solve.”

“Maybe you are thinking too hard when the answer is right in front of you. Listen, have a time out. Let’s go outside and have something to eat.”

“No Sanju I can’t risk

”

“Hey you can’t think with an empty stomach. Just come with me please. Don’t refuse me now.”

Sanyu dragged her to the dinning room where everyone was present, including the Shuklas.

Shared on whatsapp by Martino.

She took a seat next to her sister.” Greetings,”she smiled at their guests.

“Greetings dear,”Mrs. Shukla smiled back. “Dear,we have been asking for you for such a long time but you didn’t come down. What had you so busy?”

“I was working on my assignment. College assignment.”

“College?” Mr. Shukla asked to be sure.

“Yes sir, college.”

“Weren’t you supposed to drop out today?” Mr. Shukla asked looking at her dad.

With the best smile she got bring up,she looked at the bald man. “I’m sorry maybe my parents forgot to inform you sir that I am not dropping out of school, not now and not never. Also I don’t love your son so why would I get married to him tell me? Look I don’t mean any form of disrespect but any family that is bias towards women,I can’t get married in such a family. Sanju,I came here because you asked me to but now all this drama and talks have filled my hunger. I have lost my precious appetite. And all thanks to everyone,”she gave a sheepish smile and stood up from her chair.

“SIT DOWN SANYUKTA!”

“I’m sorry dad but I won’t sit and tolerate all this nonsense. You might be able to digest it but I won’t be able to,”she turned to walk away.

“Just look at her. I had told you that a girl like her would never make a good daughter in-law but no you were so adamant into marrying our precious son to her. May God have mercy. Instead of joy,she will bring havoc into our family. I advice you to reject this proposal.”

Sanyukta scoffed and looked at Mrs. Shukla.” Great for me ma’am. I anyway never liked you. Shall I ask you something? You might be uneducated right? And you expect your daughter in-law to be like you or worse than you isn’t it? And when you came here you found someone who is much, much better than you and you didn’t like it. You see ma’am that’s your pride speaking, you can’t handle it that your would be daughter in-law is much advanced than you, your husband and son when it comes to education. Even I don’t want to be a part of such a family that discriminate against boys and girls. I’m sure you are that family that would want me to give birth to sons only and if I fail to do that,my daughters would suffer from the insults and embarrassment. I’m sorry but I can’t risk that,”she turned to her father. “Dad,you have great taste but to choose a husband for your daughter you went to this family. I will repeat what ma’am here said. May God have mercy. I won’t get married to such a family dad. I will keep saying this til you listen to me. Choose a better family maybe I will consider my decision to get married,”she concluded and left the room leaving everyone shocked and speechless except for her sister who was secretly smiling.

√√√√√√

Everyone was anxious and scared as they sat in class. And the fact that he was running late wasn’t helping.

Sanyukta wasn’t feeling any better, she never it was bad to wish bad for another person but right now something misfortune happening to him would be the greatest gift she would ever have.

“Good morning everyone!” He cheerful greeted walking into class with a cup of coffee and a small muffin paper bag.

‘God couldn’t he be more sexier?’ she thought as she took him in.

He was wearing a navy Armani suit with paired black moccasins. His broad shoulders stood proudly on the suit jacket he was wearing and his biceps too as he reflexed them.

“Sorry I am late. I had a very important meeting to attend, that’s why I am on a suit otherwise I would have walked in here looking like a high schooler,”he said lightening up the mood as everyone giggled except Sanyukta of course.

“So here is what is going to happen. I will call your name and you will solve the equation I assigned you. Hey, don’t panic. Just relax. We are all human and we make mistakes and errors. It’s okay if you get it wrong. No one is going to laugh at you for getting an answer wrong because when I was at your level I didn’t know who Vinci was. I thought he was an actor,”he cracked a joke making everyone laugh. “Right so feel free. I have added a little bit of spice to this activity. I want to test your intellectual level and also to make class interesting! You all will be given a chance and if you fail to give the right answer you will be given one more chance to still be part of this class. Your chance will be Sanyukta Agarwal,if she manages to answer all the questions right then you all are safe. Sanyukta Agarwal? Is she in?” He asked his eyes moving around the lab til they landed on her. He gave a small smile.” Right she’s in. Shall we get started? The first person to come over is Vidushi Malhotra.”

Everyone kept on going to the front to solve their problem til it was Sanyukta’s turn.

She stood up from her seat and made her way to the front. She took the white board marker from Aditya who smirked at her facial expression and leant back on his desk and watched her like a predator.

She swallowed hard and wrote two letters on the board.

‘NA’

“NA?!” The class erupted looking at her answer and they all turned to Me. Vadhan who had an impressed expression on him which boosted Sanyukta’s confidence on her answer.

“Care to explain why your answer is different from others?” He asked.

“Well, how can you solve a problem when the problem is the problem itself?”

“Huh!?” The class went into confusion.

“Sanyukta have you lost your brains. We all know that you’re a freak and now you’re an idiot,”Randir said mocking her. “Let me remind you maybe you have forgotten that Evey chemistry equation and mathematical problem have only one answer and method. So what are trying to say?”

“If you would let me finish Randir you would understand why I say there’s no answer but your ego is so big, isn’t it?” She shot back.

“Okay share to enlighten us then.”

“Right!” She said sharply. “There’s no answer because the equation right from the start is wrong so it it impossible to solve the other equations. See here, the negative sign is not to be at the beginning but at the end and the positive sign at the end should be in the center like this,”she corrected it. “But if we carried on with this equation,it would be impossible to solve it. Look here, you all came with possible solutions,if we follow through them, our chemical would explode on us. Don’t worry though,it would only leave us with minor injuries. So you see there is no answer to that equation sir gave us.”

Aditya applauded followed suit by the class.

“I made that up actually. I already knew the problem was wrong,”he admitted. “Please take a seat,”he said over to her. “What I wanted you to learn and understand is,learn to read the question, understand it and then solve it. Chemistry isn’t biology. With that being said let’s start off with the syllabus.”

The class went on with no problem til the end.

“Sir do you have a minute?” Sanyukta asked standing in front of him.

“Why? What happened?” He asked her.

She gave him a smirk. “Hmmm
. You enjoy it whenever you threaten me but did you see how I put you and your skills to shame? Listen you had threatened me that you will tell my family about what happened between you and I right? I give you the permission to do so sir.”

“What?”

“Yes! Go ahead and show the pictures to my parents I don’t mind at all. See you around,”she blew a kiss at him and walked away.

“If my parents see those pictures and even the Shuklas see them. My marriage alliance with Yash will be broken and I won’t have anyone on my back ever again. This is bullseye! Wow Sanyukta I salute you!”

Just when she got into her car,she received a call from her dad.

“Yes dad tell me.”

“Sanyukta because of your performance last night the Shuklas have broken your alliance with Yash.”

“Really? Dad do you know that the best news you have ever given to me since I was a kid.”

“I have set you up on a blind date with Arnav Raizaidah, son of Rashid. You must have lunch with him today and if you create a scene with him,I will personal fly you to Mossourie and you will never ever see your sister nor us ever again,”her dad said and hanged up the phone.

Sanyukta felt like she has been knocked down by a huge and heavy rock. She felt suffocated as she leant on her car.
