Episode 13

Anita felt like she’s swooning, she can’t believe she’s looking at her then 2 year old girl. Guilt overshadowed her, shame swirls around her, her conscience used this as a perfect opportunity to hammer her heart out.

She can’t help but remember the innocent and crying look on Adesewa’s face when she tugged on her skirt while her ex-husband was chasing her out. A drop of tear meandered it’s way down her now swollen face. She sniffed, ashamed of herself, not trusting her emotions before her daughter, she turned around, and dragged her feet out of the office forgetting the purpose of her visit.

How sudden change can occur
.

Adesewa was both stunned and tongue tied, she doesn’t know how long it’ll take for it to sink in that she just saw her mother. A mixture of anger and fury was building up in her. She always thought her dad was at fault for sending her mum out but when she learnt of what she did, she hated the woman for immorality, she hated the woman for letting her have a single father, she hated her for depriving her of motherly love, she hated her for not being there for her, she hated her for just showing up in her office without an explanation, she can’t even say something
..she fell on her chair and cried her eyeballs out.

Niphemi walked out of his office, just to check on his fiancee, he was almost at her office wen he saw the back view of Anita leaving the firm without saying hi to him. So she left without informing me just because she has collected her money?, he thought.

He decided to chase her up to query her when his phone rang.

“hello babe” he said into the fone on realizin its his MD

“please come over to my office now” she said from the other side of the line, worry evident in the voice.

He stopped in his tracks, deciding to deal with Anita later and also postponing seeing his fiancee, he turned around and rushed towards her office.

He bursted into the office, adjusting himself, trying to keep his cool “yhur call got me worried, hope no problem” he said, trying to fake a cool demeanour.

She looked up at him, looked down at the pregnancy test result she performed on her self on the table, looked back at him, tear rolling down her face. Niphemi couldn’t fake the demeanour for long, he rushed towards her and stopped in his tracks, on recognising the yellow flat tube like plastic on her table.

He couldn’t talk, gesticulating like the conductor of a band of choristers, blabbing like a deaf boy who wants has just been irked, shaking his head like a kid caught stealing meat from the pot
”does this mean
.” he started shakingly

“yes Niphemi, I’m pregnant” she said nodding like an agama lizard.

He felt his legs wobble and give way
