Episode 18

Adesewa left work and headed home. She met her old man sitting on his favourite wooden chair enjoying the evening breeze, with that always mean look on his face. The only time that mean face breaks up is when it sees him, today’s not an exception as the face broke into a broad smile on siting her.

“Evening dad” she said hugging him on his seat.

“Evening Bestie” he said with a grin, he’s the only person who likes calling her with that nickname…

They chatted non-stop like long lost friends, ranging from work, business trips, life everything they can think of, after letting making him at ease, she decided to tell him why she came.

“Dad, I met someone” she said with a straight face.

“Really, when will I meet him, so you’ve finally dumped that gold-digger, I’ve always known him to be good for nothing, if not for you, I wouldn’t have got him that job…”he said with a smug on his face.

“Not that dad, Niphemi’s fine, he’s a great man, he loves me as much as I do to him” she said rather convincingly

“who’s it then” he said with a straight face.

“I met mum” she said.

His face got clouded like a mist covering the face of the sun, his smile faded, he looked older, wrinkles set in, his cheeks sagged a bit.

“How did it happen?”

She explained to him how she was at her office arranging some files, she heard someone coming in, she turned and met a woman standing. On the woman siting her, the woman froze and pointed at her sayin “sewa”, that’s when she recognised her to be her mum. The woman turned back and left without stating why she came. “Perhaps she came to see her me” she concluded.

Her dad stared into the future ‘so it seems’, he turned at her and said

“when next you see her, let me know”

He stood up and entered the house.

Niphemi looked dejectedly at the phone for the umpteenth time, he has been trying Tennie’s no for the past few hours but was always answered by that sweet feminine automated voice “the number you have tried is not available, please try again later”

Not hearing from her is making him perplexed, he doesn’t know what to do neither does he know what she’s thinking of wherever she is. All he felt to just know is the paternity of the child preferably for it not to be his. What of if it’s his? He hasn’t thought of that, deciding to take it a step at a time, he called his friend to update him on the latest happening.

Willz advised him to keep himself together till he had heard from tennie before deciding on what next to do.
