Episode 25

The secretary had called her about her fiance’s hurried leaving of the office, curiosity got the better of her and she decided to confirm the questionable and untrue allegation she just heard of her fiance.

She ‘wore’ her car and traced the guest house that has previously been described to her, she got to the front of the guest house just in time to see the backline of someone who resembles Niphemi entering the guest house. She parked hurriedly and rushed to follow the ‘person’.

She couldn’t locate the room the person entered, she was about turning back when she heared someone raising her voice about ‘her daughter’ she stealthily walked towards the room, luckily its ajar, she pushed it and froze when she saw her fiance arguing with a woman old enough to be his mum, ‘so this’ his sugar-mummy?’.

Did I say she froze when she saw her fiance, she now went rigid when she realised the ‘sugar-mummy’ is her mum, words stucked in her throat as she was about to say something, just then she heard something about pregnancy, now the miracle holding her up miraculously before miraculously amd unexplainably became limp, she saw herself floating and everything blacked out.

Anita and Niphemi sat transfixed at opposite sides of sewa’s bed, lost in thought, ruminating on the how ruined their life is, Niphemi sat, his right elbow on his right knee, eyes fixed on Adesewa who’s eyes are still closed, still lacking consciousness.

His eyes are so red, red enough to light a cigarette, and swollen, like a bee-attacked eyeball, his cheeks are a bit more sunken, the hollow at his neck is becoming more visible, all he wants is just for Adesewa to wake up not regarding the aftermath.

Anita equally is lost in thought, her flood gate is wide open and tears trickled down freely from it, both hands supporting her jaws and resting on both her knees, jex like women do when they are lost in thought. The past few months have been her most enjoyable part of her life, but the turmoil of the past two weeks have swallowed the affluence of the past few months.

Her dreams have almost been realized but everything came crashing down. Her daughter is unconscious, her life has lost its direction, she committed a taboo of sleeping with her daughter’s fiance…….now she doesn’t know how to make things right.

They both heard approaching footsteps, they looked up. Approaching them is the doctor in his white overall (or is it labcoat?), with Adesewa’s father and another man who Niphemi can’t place his look.

Menacing is a mild way of qualifying the look on micheal’s face has he glared at Niphemi, the look on his face changed to a shock-filled, rage-filled, questionable daring look on he siting his ex wife.

Anita looked up with expectation on siting the doctor, the look changed to a pleading look when she saw her ex-husband, she knows the third man but couldn’t recollect where, as she was lowering her head to regain her previous posture, the third man grinned, she gasped on recognising that grin, Paul.
