Anita barges into adesewa’s ward to see her sitting down lost in thought as expected, Sewa’s face became fierce and was about to shout her mother out as usual but Anita was faster and shouted

“Listen to me” fiercely.

Sewa was stunned and here herself chock on her words, she swallowed hard but burning inside of her.

“I’ll take whatever you’ll call me” Anita began “I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my whole life, I’m not worth to be your mother, I’m evil, bad, a devil, a dog, whatever you can think of. I’m regretting my whole life but regretted dragging you into it mostly. I know my life’s done for already but I won’t let you drag someone else down with me. The paper in my hands is your DNA test result cross checked with a man who claims to be your father, but he isn’t, all because of my promiscuity and indecency. I’m at fault for everything, I seduced Niphemi, saw him as a nice young good lookin man, lured him to an hotel under pretence of signing a contract, he never wanted to cheat on you, but I’m good at luring men, he kept on singing about how much it hurts to cheat on his girlfriend, he regretted after each time but I end up making him do it again.” she said now seated on the bed at her daughter’s feet.

“Of all the mistakes I made in life, I regretted leaving you above all, but glad I left you because you might not have grown up to be a pretty and wonderful lady you’ve become, you might have ended up been wayward as I am but I never for once forget you.I won’t beg for forgiveness because I know I don’t deserve it, I’m sinking already, please don’t let me drag niphemi along, he doesn’t deserve it. Please do forgive him, he truly do love you, I might not deserve to be your mother, but I’m still your mother and I love you so much” she concluded now tears flowing freely down her face.

Adesewa doesn’t know what to do as she looked on at her mother crying freely and soliciting for niphemi. She didn’t know when she started crying too. She had been trying to talk but ends up grunting each time due to the words getting stucked in her throat. She’s at loss of what to say, she’s about to give talking another trial when someone entered.

“What are you doing here” Micheal shouted on sighting Anita, he fingers rolled into a fist and he rushed menacingly at her.

Anita was shocked when she saw Micheal rushing furiously at her, she stood up to dash to safety knocking over a cup of water in her haste. Her flat slippers slipped on the now slippery tiled floor and she loosed her balance, she hit her head on the wall, felt herself flying and then hit her head on the floor again, she could feel life draining out of her. She tried to open her eyes again to see the silhouette of her daughter bending over her….

“Forgive Niphemi……he’s not at fault….I……Love….yo..” she managed to say before darkness enveloped her.

Adesewa was shocked by the voice, her heart flew out but returned in time to see her mother flying through the air, she rushed towards her as she hits the floor, crying uncontrollably, she was able to decipher her mother’s incoherent dying words….

“Mummy, I love you too” she hear herself say, sniffing uncontrollably, but its too late…..

“She’s dead” the doctor said after checking her vitals…
