Episode 30

She later left in a bad mood I wasn’t able to change her sadness to happiness and it hurt me that I couldn’t, through out that day I was lost in thought, what should I do now, my parents try to find out my problem but I just want to keep it to myself, I know it a wrong thing to keep things from my parents but I am not just ready to let them know not at that time, I have to make things right first and I want to do it on my own.

My father elder brother’s son which you can call cousin is a well known doctor in the US, for a while now they have been making preparation for me to be flown abroad to undergo a surgery, they are 100percent sure I will walk again after the surgery, but I dont want to put my hope up that’s why I put all those out of my mind.

The next day I called mimi but she wasn’t picking up, I tried so many things but she wasn’t responding, the worst has happened please God let not be what am thinking, I couldn’t eat that morning, and this got my parents more worried, they tried all their best to know what was wrong with me but I just dont want to involve them, I was till in my thoughts when I slept off.

I was woken up by a warm touch on my face, I opened my eyes and behold mimi smile was the first thing I saw, “hey how are you” she asked me rubbing my face, “your phone” I asked her trying to act cool, “oh I didn’t know where I kept it, I got home and slept off but didn’t know where the phone was, I know you have been calling,hope I didn’t get you worried” she asked me again, I explained how worried I was,the moment she heard I haven’t eaten since morning she was very angry with me because if I don’t eat I won’t be able to take my medication, and she made me promise no matter what I shouldn’t stay a second without food which I gladly promise, I thought I have lot her,but here she is sitting close to me.

She quickly left me to prepare something for me to eat, she prapare jollof rice and fried chicken for me, she brought it to my room and placed it on the small table close to my bed, she helped me sit up then she feed me, well she always do that whenever she is around so am use to that.

I really enjoyed the meal after which I took my drug, my mother later came to my room with smile on her face, she thanked Mimi for everything and insisted on taking the plate back, both of they debated on who to take the plate away for almost five minutes until my mother finally won, my mum took the plate away closing the door behind her.

I was well position again by mimi, this time she join me on the bed, we talk about almost everything we know, what she saw on her way coming and alot of things until something came to my mind and I decided to ask. “What about your sister lmade”, she smile at me “Don’t worry about that, I might not know fully what happened between both of you even if I have heard the story but I wasn’t there, you might have done something terrible in your past, everyone has their past but you have never been unfair to me since we have been together,I will be a fool to let a wonderful man like you go because of your past,I love you uyi and no matter what happens I will stand by you, so you have nothing to worry”, her word really got to me,I was please with her words but at the same time troubled, “but what if lmade get mad at you” “then she should be ready to face me because I am ready, let me deal with that”, she said,I can feel the seriousness in her voice and I know she meant everything she said,I was happy at the same time sad, I really dont want people to think I am creating problem between two sisters.

“Mimi what if I go to jail or I wasn’t able to walk anymore”, before I could finish my statement she put her finger on my lip “shhhhh,you will walk again,your mother has told me about the arrangement they are making for you and I have done my own investigations and found out that your cousin is a professional in this kind of issues and as for the jail thing,you wont because you will win okay” she said it with so much confidence, I looked at her with different thoughts in my head, “what do u mean by I will win” I asked her.

She didn’t say anything but turned and rest her head on my chest.I know she meant everything she said and in my mind I pray her words are true.

She later left that day evening, I enjoyed every minute with her,things became okey again but as it was fun also trouble comes, she always tells me how lmada and her fight all the time,I thought with time everything will end but to my greatest surprise the battle became worst that they fight almost all the times, that sometimes their family has to settle them, she sometimes come to spend some days with me,she could have gone back to Abuja if not for me and she didn’t have an apartment in benin,she was staying in their family house.

The case was till on,we have gone to the court twice already, it was taking more time then I aspected because the case was very complicated but it was working in my favor,I really don’t know why but maybe God mercy was upon my life.

Everyone woke up in the morning as usually, Mimi was with me because she spend the night at my place,we had our breakfast,it was a Saturday morning and every Saturday morning my mother always goes to the market to buy food stuff, Mimi decided to go with her which my mother agreed, in no time they both left the house leaving me and my dad but not up to one hour he too left to see a friend close by who wasn’t feeling well,leaving me alone in the house but thats not the first time I was home alone, it was easy for me to move round the house because there was no stairs,I was in the sitting room watching a movie series that mimi brought when coming to the house yesterday and at the same time licking oranges, the door bell rang, I look at the time my mum wasn’t use to coming back early from the market and my dad hasn’t spend up to 20minute, I quickly went to the door,it was lock so I had to take my own key from my room but even at that my mum and dad has theirs keys, I opened the door and got the shock of my life.
