Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 21

I had not stop to think about how my divorce was affecting the others. Jimmy was Uri’s best friend. They had been friends long before I knew him. To think he had been dodging sessions because of my divorce made me realize how much this divorce was affecting him.

. I looked at Jimmy on the wheel

. Jimmy was four years older than me but we could be easily mistaken for twins.

We reached our residence and I opened the gate. I let my brother pack the car while I closed the gate and went inside feeling a bit exited to meet my mum. Jimmy had keys to both my gate and my house and had let mum in before coming to see me at the office. The front door was open and I immediately went in.

Mum rushed out of the kitchen and come to embrace me.

“Easy mum.”

She detached herself from me and held my cheeks.

“Look at you, you haven’t been eating.”

“Mum I eat.”

“What do you eat? Your fridge is bare, with few remains of takeout.”

I shrugged and sank on the couch. Jimmy came and held my shoulder then massaged it.

“I have to go pick some groceries mum sent me.”

“You forgot to bring them on your way back?” Mum asked in her reprimanding tone.

“They are much cheaper at the local store than in town.”

“Go ahead.”

Jimmy left and My mum went ahead to touch my stomach.

“Your pregnancies are always small.”

“It’s been only six weeks’ mum.”

“I know, but your last one started showing about four months.”

“You are right.” I said.

“Am sorry I did not want to remind you about Abigael.”

“It’s okay mum, I should be comfortable hearing about my late daughter.”

“Am sorry about everything you are going through, your daughter’s death and now this.”

“You shouldn’t be, its none of your fault.”

“I know but still, I am sorry.”

She pulled me to herself and we stayed like that for a while.

“It’s a parent’s happiness when her children are doing okay, it hurts me to see you going through all this yet you are still very young.”

“Mum God does not test us beyond our strength and even if I don’t understand why all this has happened I have to trust that all things happen for the good of those who trust in Him.”

“I love the sound of what I just heard.”

I smiled weakly at her.

“Have you guys talked?”

I shook my head.

“You should talk to him on an even ground.”

“I will.”

“Do you still love him?”

“Uriel was my first love, It’s been two months since we separated, all we shared and had doesn’t just dissolve in thin air mum.”

“Do you still love him?”

“If you would have asked me a month ago or even a week ago I would say yes but now I have to pause first before I answer that question.”

“Is there someone else?”

“No mum, there is nobody else.”

“Then you should try and make up with your husband.”

“I am trying and will continue but it’s not forth coming on Uri’s side

. Mum he is having a kid with another woman.”

“Tell me about that? How does it make you feel?”

“Honestly mad, what makes me even more mad is the fact that I am pregnant with his child and he has impregnated another. My child needs a father. Even if we get back together how am I supposed to live with the fact that my husband is a baby daddy? And worse still the baby mama wants him for herself.”

“I understand my child.”

“What am I supposed to do? Mum am scared that I may not want this marriage anymore? Divorce is not the best option especially for a person of faith but am beginning to not want this marriage.”

“Ella you are one of the smartest people I have met in this universe and I know without a doubt that you can fight when you want to and make the best decisions and whatever God wants for you, that you will have.”

“Amen.”

“What trap has Uri gotten himself into?”

“Mum I wish I knew but I can’t help but feel guilty for pushing Uri away.”

“Was it bad?”

“Yes mum it was bad, sometimes I called him names after Joyce and on this one instant I said something so much uncaring.”

“What did you tell him?”

“That he was a disgraceful husband and that he did not deserve me as a wife.”

“That was harsh.”

“Every day, I think about that argument I imagined that’s how he thought about separating with me.”

“Am sorry Ella.”

“It’s okay mum.”

“But he still went to the woman you had always been complaining about.”

“Yes he did.”

“I was optimistic this was going to be over soon but I have a feeling it’s not going to end well for us both.”

“You have to be optimistic.”

I nodded then yawned.

“Look at your hungry self, I made you favourite milk coffee just sit here and let me serve you some with pancakes.”

She arose and left for the kitchen. I could hear Jimmy parking the car. That was fast.
