Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 29

I looked at the google map on my screen. We were nearing the Olympian estate. I glanced at the two boys at the back of my seat. One with brown eyes and the other with green eyes. They were involved in an argument about whose comic hero was best. They lived in the gated community. That meant getting both residences would be much easier. Their class teacher had drove them to the appointment and Austin’s dad had requested me to drop them at the house

. For some reason the girl I was used to seeing him with was not around to pick them up. Austin had flown out for a business trip and would be arriving much later today.

I came to the main gate of the Olympian community and waited for the security officer to let me in. He came to me with a vehicle scanner and proceeded to scan my car.

“You are new here?”

“Yes.”

“Can I see some identification.”

I removed both my identification car and driver’s license and showed them to him.

“You are the doctor?” He asked.

“That’s me, yes.”

“Austin mentioned you would be dropping the boys.”

“He did?”

“Yes did.”

“I see.”

“Okay, take the left diversion, their houses are on the furthest end, opposite each other.”

“Thank you sir.”

I drove past the gate and sure enough there was a diversion ahead. I took that lane and drove to the furthest end

. In front of one of the houses at the end, I saw an elderly woman standing.

“Your grandma.” Sammy told Dylan.

I brought the car to a halt and got out of the car so that I could help Sammy out. I opened his door and taking him by hand we went to meet up with his grandmother. She was a bit on the heavier side, with a smiley face that immediately lit up the atmosphere around her.

“You must be the doctor.” She said giving me an unexpected hug.

She released me.

“It’s so nice to finally meet you, Austin mentioned you would be dropping the boys. It’s such a nice opportunity to meet you.”

“It’s so nice to finally meet you too, Dylan cannot shut up about you either. I really needed to see the amazing grandma.”

We both laughed.

“Come on inside.”

I looked at the watch.

“Am sorry but I can’t. It’s getting late and I haven’t seen Sammy to his house. Next time I will be sure to come inside.”

“I understand doctor, but I had something for you.”

She rushed inside and came out with a basket covered with a white kitchen cloth.

“I baked some cookies for you. It’s an appreciation for all that you have done for the boys.”

“It been my pleasure.”

She handed me the basket.

“I have to go now.”

I bid Dylan goodbye and left as they went inside. I opened my car and placed the cookie basket on the empty front seat.

“Is that your house?” I was pointing at a house that sat directly opposite Sammy’s place.

Sammy nodded but his eyes were strongly fixed on the cookie basket.

“Sammy?”

He looked at me stupidly grinning.

“Mmmmh.”

“What? Dylan grandma makes the best cookies in the whole world.”

“Fine. You can have some.”

I let him pick some few pieces from the basket.

“Let’s take you home.”

We got out of the car and walked towards Austin’s house.

“Since your dad isn’t home yet, is her girlfriend around?” I asked Sammy.

“What girlfriend?”

“The one who sometimes come to pick you guys from my office.”

“She is my aunt.”

“Oh.”

“She flew back to the U.S.”

“Maybe you should stay with Dylan’s grandma till your dad comes back home.”

“My dad is at home. He was in the house when I left this morning.”

“He was?”

He nodded.

We stood in front of the house now. It was much bigger and had an opulence that would make one stand and admire for a while. Sammy daintily pushed the front door open.

“Come in Ella.”

Hesitantly I placed my right leg inside then quickly allowed my right leg to follow. I wanted and did not want to be here at the same time.

“Dad we are home.” Sammy screamed.

He rushed upstairs and left me alone in the living room which connected to an open kitchen. He had a taste for good furniture,

“Ella.” I heard Austin’s voice call from the top of the stairs Sammy had just used.

I looked up. He was in some blue track shorts and a white vest. His hair looked wet. He was just from the bathroom.

“Austin, I did not expect to find you here.”

“I got an earlier flight. I was too exhausted.

. I should have told you upfront that you would find me here.”

“You should have.”

Just then Sammy came all changed and ran past his father and stopped at the main door.

“Hey buddy slow down, you could easily get hurt on these stairs. Where are you off to in such a hurry?”

“Dylan’s grandma made cookies.”

“Okay, will be coming for you once am done hear. Be careful.”

“Okay, dad.” In the speed of wind, he left.

Austin’s gaze left the door and settled on me. His blue eyes were scrutinizing making me feel like I was under a microscope.

“Thanks for bringing them home.”

“You don’t have to thank me.”

He edged closer to where I was standing.

“Can I offer you something?”

“Thanks, but no thanks. I should be leaving for home. It’s getting late.”

He stopped when he reached where I stood.

“Ella.”

“Yes Austin.”

“Can we have lunch tomorrow?”

“Are you asking me out on a date?”

“What do you think?”

“I don’t date my clients.”

“Technically am not your client. My son is.”

“But… i.”

He gently drew me close to him and before I knew it we were lost in each other. This was happening too fast too soon.. My heart raced wildly. When I got my senses back I pushed him away.

“This cannot happen between us.”

“Just come for the one date, if you still hold to what you have just told me, I will respect it.”

I went over what he had just said and managed one word.

“Okay.”
