Episode 32

General Obianodo called me and asked me where I was.

“I’m on patrol sir,” I replied a bit nervously.

“What is this I’m hearing about you and Senator’s wife?” The general asked abruptly sending my heart into my mouth.

“Senator’s wife?” I echoed more from shock than surprise.

“Please don’t give me that crap!” General Obianodo bawled with anger. “Don’t even pretend like you don’t know what I’m talking about or have you forgotten that I’m a General and Generals hardly lack information,” the General continued.

“I don’t understand sir,” I insisted unwilling to give away myself easily.

“Ok no problem you will soon understand,” General Obianodo murmured and dropped the call.

I had honoured the senator’s wife’s second invitation that saturday and gave her 4rounds of raw sex after which she wrote a cheque of 2.5million naira in my name. How General Obianodo got to know about my escapade with the Senator’s wife was the aspect I couldn’t understand.

I had always suspected that General Obianodo had access to some superhuman powers but I didn’t have any prove until now.

If not how could he have known that I had a rump with senator’s wife?

I nonetheless made up my mind never to admit ever having anything to do with senator’s wife no matter the threat or interrogation.

It was obvious that my job was at stake and dismissal from the military meant endless doom for me.

“I want you in my office first thing tomorrow morning!” General Obianodo thundered when he called me back in the evening and dropped immediately.

My state of assignment was quite far from General Obianodo’s so I drove all night to catch up with the early morning appointment.

The General’s face frowned as soon as I entered his office.

“Is sleeping with senator’s wife what I brought you into the military to do?” He asked abruptly before I could find opportunity to say goodmorning or drop a salute.

My face went white with fear.

“I didn’t sleep with senator’s wife sir,” I lied determined not to admit the truth.

“Oh you’re still lying before me?” General Obianodo asked nodding his head angrily. “Goodbye to the military,” he said and rose to leave but I intercepted and fell face down to the floor in apology.

“She seduced me sir,” I cried out bitterly. “Please don’t dismiss me sir please I’m begging. I didn’t mean to lie to you sir please it won’t happen again sir please I’m sorry sir please forgive me sir please it was the devil sir please,” I begged and begged and begged.

Dismissal from the military was the worst thing that could ever happen to me and I was willing to die than allow myself get dismissed.

The General thought for a while and sat back in his chair.
