Episode 6

“School has been very stressful,” Ijeoma explained to me as we lay beside each other. “I’m almost through with my project that’s why I made out time and decided to come and see how you’re faring.”

“My dear, I’m faring well o,” I replied. “I missed u so much no doubt about that.” I added to buttress the point.

“I really missed you too dear,” she replied and then added: ” so tell me dear, how have you been coping all these while that I wasn’t around?”

“My dear I’ve been enduring o,” I replied averting my gaze. “It wasn’t easy dear.”

“Atleast now you have me,” she said. “Do with me whatever you wish.”

The words set my brain thinking anew and my d!cky rose instantly with the thought.

We did three more rounds before we then went into the bathroom to freshen up. After that she went into the kitchen and prepared nice indomie and egg and the both of us to eat.

By the time we were through with eating, the time was around 6.30pm in the evening. I then saw her off to the bus park and waited till their bus zoomed off before I turned round and started coming back but not without first having paid for her tfare back to school.

I got back to my room feeling so refreshed and satisfied.

It never occured to me with the slightest premonition that, that very day was going to be the last day I will see Ijeoma in this world.

Their bus had a very fatal accident with an uncoming trailer and my Ijeoma was among the mangled bodies of the deceased as she sat next to the driver in the front seat.

No wonder my left eye kept twitching continuously as I went back to my room that evening but it wasn’t until morning the next day that the mind-wrecking call got to me in all its intoxification…
