I went downstairs to meet him, he was on the phone I didn’t know who he was speaking with but I heard him say ” if she’s acting to big for the role we can as well give it to someone who is ready to do it” ( he pause to hear the person’s response before he spoke again) “no problem my guy, I will get back to you when I get someone okay”? He hung up and dropped his phone on the table.

FREDERICK
Sorry about that, its work.

LESLEY
I understand. Tea or coffee?

FREDERICK
whatever you offer me is good.

I went into the kitchen and made two cups of hot flavour coffee for us, return back to the living room and handed him one.

LESLEY
Are you looking for somebody who can take a role in a movie?

FREDERICK
(Shocked that I asked) Yeah, but not just any kind of person, someone with a raw talent that’s what I’m looking for.

LESLEY
Okay.

We were silent for what seem like an hour before he finally asked.

FREDERICK
Are you interested in becoming an actress?
I wanted to tell him ‘yes’ and how many books I have written waiting for when it will be turn into script but I stopped myself from telling him, if anyone deserve to know my dreams and desire it should be mercy and not him.

LESLEY
No I don’t I just wanted to feed my curiosity.

FREDERICK
Alright. So Les tell me about yourself.

LESLEY
Like seriously? You want to know more about me? Why if I may ask Freddie?

FREDERICK
(He chuckles) Why do you take everything to be a fight ” little blaster”?

I couldn’t help but smile, how can I forget my nickname, the one I gave myself due to the way I was always blasting him.

FREDERICK
Aha, so you can even smile? Please do that more often it brings out your beautiful dimples

LESLEY
( I frowned my face back) is not like I don’t smile I just don’t like smiling when I’m with you.

FREDERICK
What!!! But why Lesley?

LESLEY
Nothing, are you hungry I can make something for us to eat?

FREDERICK
(He checked his time before he said) Sure why not.

I got up and went into the kitchen but was confuse on what to cook so I return back to ask him what he would like to eat.

LESLEY
Help make a choice rice, bean or swallow which should I cook?

FREDERICK
Swallow would do ( he chuckles)

LESLEY
Great choice
I return back into the kitchen and made our native soup(beans soup, with enough fish and meat) we have machine for pounding yam, (God bless technology for me) an hour later food was ready and served.

I went and invited him to the dinning room, he followed me.

I opened the food with shaking hands I just remembered at the last minutes that not everyone eats fish, but the aroma of the soup was super breath taking ( lol)

LESLEY
I didn’t remember to ask you before I cooked with fish, I hope you don’t mind?

FREDERICK
( he smiled) I don’t eat fresh fish thou but I eat the black ones.

LESLEY
( looking confuse) which one is black fish again. ( I pause to dish some food into his plate) wait you mean dry fish?

FREDERICK
Yeah

LESLEY
( I inhale and exhale deeply) thank God then, I don’t eat fresh fish too that’s why you will never find it in our house. I cooked with the black fish.

I had finish dishing the food into our plates so I sat down and washed my hand to eat, he looked at me and smiled, like seriously? Was he expecting me to eat pounded yam with fork?

LESLEY
( I eye him) what?

FREDERICK
( he smiled again) nothing just like people who are realist.

LESLEY
Whatever can we eat please?

He nodded his head “sure” I bless the food and I started to eat, he tasted the soup a little and his eyes widen.

LESLEY
It taste bad right? Well I’m sorry I also forgot to ask you your choice of soup so I made mine.

FREDERICK
Are you kidding me? This soup taste so great ( he winked at me)

LESLEY
( I couldn’t help but blush at his wink) are you sure?

FREDERICK
I am, I don’t know the soup but it sure taste good.

LESLEY
Thanks ( still blushing).

The rest of the dinner was quiet, he didn’t talk and neither did I, we ate to our full before I cleared the dishes.

FREDERICK
Thanks for the meal, I really enjoyed it.

LESLEY
You are welcome boss
I picked up my phone and called our gate man to come take his food, it was still raining didn’t want to get soaked again.

He came and carried his food and left, I checked the time and it was just 7:pm, wow there’s still time and I’m kinda grateful I have company tonight.

Frederick and I talked till it was 10pm, then the rain had stopped falling so he told me it was time to leave.

FREDERICK
I hope we do this again Les.

LESLEY
( Feeling shy) okay oh

FREDERICK
Are we?

LESLEY
Maybe

FREDERICK
Common, be positive with your answer… Are we gonna do this again?

LESLEY
Yeah, I think we will.

FREDERICK
So can I have your contact please?

I was silent for a while before I called it out for him, immediately he saved it, he brought his hand for a shake and I took it.

FREDERICK
See you around Les

LESLEY
Yeah you too…..night night
I walked him outside where he parked his car, he entered and waved at me, I wave back, he drove away and I return back to the room.

TWO HOURS LATER
My phone started to ring, I had already fallen asleep it was the call that woke me up.

LESLEY
Hello who’s this?

CALLER
It’s Freddie

LESLEY
Oh! You gotten home?

FREDERICK
Yeah just got in.

LESLEY
alright, I’m glad to hear that.

FREDERICK
What are you up to?

LESLEY
Nothing, I was already sleeping when your call came in.

FREDERICK
Oh I should leave you to sleep then. Goodnight

LESLEY
Yeah goodnight. ( I hung up)
Its really going to be a sweet night
