It was time for the scene two, I am to go and deliver the queen’s message to the rest of the maids.

DIRECTOR
camera rolling, ready and action
Ruth walked into the kitchen, her hand still holding where the queen had slapped her, all the maids knew what has happen, the queen doesn’t summon you without giving you a slap as a gift and everyone knew she hate Ruth more than any one in the palace.

RUTH
Preparations should be made for the prince return.

CHICHI
When is he coming back?

RUTH
The queen didn’t mention it but I’m guessing its tomorrow.

AMARA
In this palace there’s nothing like guess we act with fact, you better go back and ask her else you will be the one to face her wrath alone ( she said angrily)

CHICHI
Calm down Amara your blood is always hot, ( she turn to face Ruth) don’t worry I will ask her for you. (She exit)

RUTH
You seem not to like me and trust me I don’t care okay?

AMARA
I’m sorry about the way I sounded, I have issue with keeping my temper in check and you know the queen knows how to bring out the bad in people.

RUTH
(She sign, what’s the point fighting her fellow maid) I’m sorry too.
Chichi walked in looking like someone who has just seen a ghost.
” she slapped you too ( they both chorus)

CHICHI
She didn’t slap me, she insulted all my generations bore and yet unborn… But I got my answer ( she laughed) the Prince is coming back tomorrow.

AMARA
( She sign and held her chest) sometimes I wish the king was still alive, him alone knows how to keep her in check.

RUTH
I wish he was too, I just pray the prince is not a monster like his mother ( she whisper)

AMARA
Well I heard the prince is like his late father, handsome and caring ( she whispered too)

CHICHI
( she cough) in as much as I love this discussion I would still advice we start the preparation before she comes in here.

They all nodded their heads and went back to their various duties. (Light fade out)

NEXT DAY AT THE PALACE
The queen and some of the palace chiefs, body guards and the maids waited outside the compound waiting to welcome the prince back home. Not long two jeeps drove in, a guard came down and opened the door for the prince, he smiled so brightly and seemed happy to be back home, he ran to his mother’s waiting arms and hugged her.

QUEEN
Welcome back son. Mama has missed you so much.

PRINCE BOB
I missed you too mama ( he said with his American accent)
His mother released him and he went round shaking all the chiefs and waving at the maids before they all went inside the palace.

NIGHT FALL
The palace is filled with a lot of guests who came to celebrate the return of the prince, the maids were going up and down to make sure the guests are well feed. The party lasted till dawn but the royals didn’t stay out with the guests, immediately the Prince greeted everyone he return back to his chambers
The queen sent one of the guards to fetch her son for her, he exit immediately to get the prince.

A minutes later the prince came out to meet his mum in the living room.

PRINCE BOB
Mum everything is change, you really did a great job in the palace mother.

QUEEN
Thanks son, I’m happy you back to take over from your late father. ( she pause and sniff) I wish he was alive to see this day.

PRINCE BOB
Common mum, tonight isn’t the night of tears but happiness, dad is gone but he will always be alive in our hearts.

QUEEN
You right son, hope the maid served you dinner.

PRINCE BOB
I’m still full mother, I will call for them when I’m hungry.

QUEEN
Okay son, I just wanted to make sure you are fine.

PRINCE BOB
Thanks mum, I will be in my room ( he got up to leave)

QUEEN
Bob I’m so proud of you and I’m so glad you didn’t bring any of those white witches home as a wife.

PRINCE BOB
( he chuckles) I love them black mum, I love my country ( he bend and kissed her cheeks before he exit)

The queen was tired and decided to return back to her Chambers, the prince was hungry so he called one of the guards to get the maids to serve him, all the maid were busy attending to the guests who are still outside enjoying themselves, the only maid he met in the kitchen was Ruth so he told her what the prince want and returned back to his post.
Ruth served his food and took it to the dinning room, kept it on the table before she went upstairs to fetch the prince.

RUTH
( knock knock) my prince dinner is served.
The prince asked her to come inside.

RUTH
Good evening my Lord ( she bend a little as sign of respect)

PRINCE BOB
Evening, ( he continued with his laptop) is my food ready?

RUTH
Yes, my lord

PRINCE BOB
What’s your name and for how long have you been working here.

RUTH
My name is Ruth obinna and its been two Years I started working in the palace.

PRINCE BOB
oh I see, alright I will join you downstairs in a bite. She exit ( he close his laptop and exited)

DIRECTOR
And cut….. Nice one today, let’s call it a wrap for today guys.

Everyone clapped and seem happy, mercy came and hugged me but that wasn’t what I needed, all I wanted at that moment was to talk with Frederick and know his reasons for not calling me to inform me he was the supposed Prince?
