Episode 12

Just as he was about to give up, Anastasja coughed and a gallon of sea water gushed out of her mouth. Everyone cheered and clapped. Anastasja coughed violently as she threw up more water. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around her.
“Oh Ana!!!! I told you not to go!!!” Leah cried, kneeling down and cradling her friend’s bloody head in her b0s0m.
Someone brought a towel to cover Anastasja’s half-náked body. Nataniel collapsed on the beach sand exhausted. An ambulance was called and Leah accompanied Anastasja to the hospital.
“Way to go dude!!!” “You’re a hero man!!!” everyone seemed to cheer. Nataniel only waved a hand in exhaustion.
“You’re a hero dude. We thought we had lost her.” Matt choked up with emotion.
Vlad clapped him on the shoulder. “You’re the man dude.”
“Look it’s nothing.” Nataniel said. “Let’s just hope she didn’t suffer any sort of brain damage or any other stuff. She was in there a long time.”
“Whatever you want us to do man, just tell us.”
“I’m okay guys. Let’s just hope she’s okay.”
It was much later he learnt what had happened. Anastasja and the other guys had been surfing when out of the blue, a freak wave appeared out of nowhere. The guys were able to swim to shore but Anastasja was nowhere to be found. Somehow she must have been knocked unconscious and swept away, evident of the gash on her head.
“The doctors are running some tests on her.” Leah told him over the phone later on. “She’s had some stitches and they want to keep her here for a few days to observe her. Said she might have suffered a bad concussion as a result of the bash to her head. They said she’s lucky to be alive.”
“Is she okay?”
“Apart from the large bandage on her head, she seems okay. The doctors gave her a sedative when she didn’t stop yelling at them.”
“Great. She is okay.”
“Nataniel, you saved her life. I…I don’t know what to say.”
“Don’t say anything. I’m just glad she’s alive. That’s what’s important.”
“Thanks.”
“Yeah. I’ll try come over if I can tomorrow. How are you getting back to your hotel?”
“Matt’s coming to get me. He’s been on my case for a while.”
“We’ll talk about that some other time.”
“I wonder what I would have done if I hadn’t gone looking for you.”
“Thank God you did.”

“Oh what a day!!! “ Nataniel sighed. He finally dragged himself back to the beach house and an immense exhaustion swept over him. He rubbed his aching shoulders as he stepped into the bathroom. He turned on the tap and his mind wandered as he watched the Jacuzzi-like tub slowly fill with hot water. He set the temperature and waited for it to heat up.

He removed the towel he had wrapped around his waist and stepped into the tub. Wincing as the hot water touched his skin, he lowered his aching body until he was submerged in the tub. He relaxed and sat back.

He was happy Anastasja was okay. Something to tell Sofia about later. Sofia. His mind went over what happened between them earlier and he smiled.
“Sofia.” He whispered. He remembered what she had told him when he first arrived.
