Victoria couldn’t sleep all night, she remembered everything Ola said because, the phone was on speaker. She was heartbroken. How would they present a dead guy to Ola?. She stared at James fast asleep at the other end of the bed in the guest room. She wondered how he could sleep, knowing Laura was still out there. Victoria was famished, she refused to eat any meal earlier because, she wasn’t sure Laura would eat anything in her absence, she was certain, her little girl was starving.

Idowu said, he would take care of the issue and, nothing would happen but, Victoria was troubled. How on earth, would they fix the mess they were in. Victoria remembered her parents house again, she regretted leaving them.

Victoria: I would have just married that guy and my daughter would still be safe…

She couldn’t wait till morning to find out, what their main plan was. Idowu said, they’d go get the dead body first thing in the morning. She had no idea, how they’d do it.

Ola was very furious.

Ola: So, they have the audacity to take Felix hostage.

Ola’s made up his mind to go to their compound that night. He felt, they’d be there with Felix. He’s go there alone, take Felix out of there. They wouldn’t dare touch him, because, they didn’t know the location of their daughter. That’d be the edge, he’d have over them.

He didn’t go back to Laura. He entered the car and zoomed off, straight to James’ compound.

Gbenga gathered few of his guards in the living room. He wanted to brief them, on how, they’d stage themselves at different areas of the club.

Gbenga: So, some of you, will stay outside but, you have to make sure, you are not seen by Idowu. In the morning, ammunitions will be sent to those of you who do not have any.

Unknown: What about the client?

Gbenga: No one should touch him.

Unknown: If you attack Idowu in the club, it will incite a scurry, which might attract the police.

Gbenga: I never said, I would attack him in the club. After the transaction, we’ll go after him immediately. All we have to do is wait till he is done.

Unknown 2: Okay, that means, none of us will go into the club.

Gbenga: Of course, few of you will go in. To watch things and give those of us outside info of when he’s coming out..

Unknown: Okay so, we will need to be grouped.

Gbenga: Yes, you group them…

Ola drove to James’ compound, very late, that night. The passage door was sealed. Knocking, would create suspicions.

Ola: I’m not just gonna go.

Ola had gotten there and he was going to enter by any means. The compound was obviously void of a gate, which made Ola’s plans easier. He went through the back and found another opening, this one was a zinc, at it’s hook was a copper tied to a small hole on the wall. That was easy for Ola. He had unhooked several hooks like that. In a few seconds, Ola was in the compound. He tip-toed right to James’s room to get his friend.

He was astonished when, he got there and found it locked.

Ola: Why is it locked?. Where could they possibly be at?

Ola went out of the compound to make a call, he didn’t want to wake any neighbour, considering the thickness of his voice. He went back straight to the car. As he sat in the car, he brought out his phone, that was when he realized, it was already so late.

Ola: Geez, 1:00am.

He dropped his phone, he didn’t want to make the call again but, for curiosity of their whereabouts, he dialled Felix’s number, since, it was with them..

Ola dialled the number.

Ola: d–n!

He exclaimed and leaned unto the seat, when he remembered, he was short of airtime. He only had enough to ring Felix’s phone briefly, or talk to them for about two seconds.

Victoria stared at James phone on the small desk beside the bed. She wished so much, that it would ring. If it did, she’s beg to have a word with her daughter.

She felt pressed to pee, she got up and went towards the bathroom.

If Victoria wasn’t in the mess, she was in, she would have been amazed at the velocity of the house. It was beautiful but, Victoria didn’t care. Nothing was good without her daughter.

The hatred for James was indescribable. Victoria was so pissed off at him. Even if, they were always having misunderstandings, he should have at least informed her of his new job. Seeing Idowu and Tina, made her realize, she didn’t know James as much as she thought.

She waved all other thoughts off and concentrated on her daughter.

As she entered the bathroom, she heard a vibration.

She rushed out immediately. It was the phone. She saw the name boldly. OLA.

She jumped into the bed and hit James’ shoulder very hard.

James was furious, when he was awoken by the loud thud from his wife.

James: What is it?

Victoria: He’s calling, he’s calling.

James: Who is calling?

Victoria: The guy, the guy.

James wiped his face with his hands.

James: That guy?

Victoria ignored him and answered the call, knowing that, it would end soon.

Victoria: Hello, hello, good morning sir.

Ola: Call me back.

Ola ended the call with those words.

Victoria: He said, we should call him back.

James: Seriously?

James sat on the bed.

Victoria: Yes.

James: Okay, give me the phone..

Victoria: Use my phone.

James: No, let’s use this.

James dialled his number, with Felix’s phone. it didn’t ring for long before, he answered the call.

James: Yes….

Ola: Who is this?

James: this is James, the person, you spoke to earlier.

Ola: I’m guessing the person, I just spoke to is Victoria, right?

James: Yes, my wife.

Victoria moved closer to James, hearing those words, “Yes, my wife”.

Ola: I don’t know why but, for some reason, I want to speak to her.

James: Why?

Ola: Because, my threats will sink in better.

James: You think so because??

Ola: Because, she is a woman.

James: You will speak to me and not her.

Ola: That’s very audacious of you. You don’t forget sey, I hold Laura abi?

James: I will give it to her.

Victoria collected the phone, as soon as James handed it out to her.

James mouthed the words, “loudspeaker”.

Ola: Hello, madam.

Victoria pressed the loudspeaker button.

Victoria: (Weakly) Yes..

Ola: I know, it’s on speaker. The one I made earlier this evening was on speaker. So be wise, what I want to say are for your ears.

James was confused. How on earth did he find out it was on speaker?

Victoria did as she was told.

Victoria: It’s just you and me now.

Ola: Good. I don’t want you to lie to me. I just came from your house now.

Don’t ask me, how I got in but, I have my ways.

Victoria: You mean, you entered?

Ola: (angry) Of course, I did (he lied) . I…

His speech was cut by Victoria’s cries of pleas.

Victoria: Oh my God, I’m so sorry, please, I didn’t mean to kill Felix, it was a mistake, please spare my daughter’s life. Please, please, I will do anything.

Ola thought he heard wrong. His intention was to lie about entering their house in order to prove to them that, he was sure, no one was at home.

James: (whispered) are you mad? Why did you tell him??

Victoria: (sobbed), he said, he entered the house.

James: What?

Ola knew Victoria, wouldn’t just say something like that, if it wasn’t true. He decided to be smart.

Ola: And his body is in there..

Victoria: Yes, yes, I’m sorry…. I didn’t…

Ola: okay, T-t for tat. Your daughter will be dead too. She was to be exchanged for Felix but, he’s dead. She’ll join him too.

Victoria fell to the floor. James left the room to alert Idowu and Tina of what was going on.

Victoria: Where the hell are you going to?

There was no reply as, he had gone out already.

Victoria: Ola, please, please. Okay, take me instead, leave Laura, she’s just a little girl.

Ola: The truth is, I never entered your room. I didn’t even know, you guys would be so brutal to kill Felix, he was like a brother to me. No, he was my younger brother.

Victoria: you, you didn’t know?

Ola: I didn’t. You said it yourself.

Victoria felt like the most stupid person ever, she just spilled out the secret because of fear. Now, it would cost her daughter’s life.

Ola: See, the people, James work for, killed a guy I really cherished, my best pal, Richard. I don’t know why but, I blame James for it.

I was planning to kill James before but, I will not. Instead, I will kill the two people, he cherishes most in the world. You and Laura because, Richard and Felix are dead.

When I kill Laura, be rest assured. I’m coming for you too.
