Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 25

James: Oh God. Not another death.

As James heard the gunshot, he wanted to ground to open up and take him down in one swallow.

Since the past week, he had witnessed so many deaths, including the death of his daughter. He was tired of seeing corpses.

The inspector removed his hands from Idowu’s nape to check what was going on. He was disheartened to find Ola on the floor, he would have yelled at the officers but, he saw the gun in Ola’s hand, which probably meant, he was trying to shoot or escape before he was gunned down.

Maybe, it was Ola’s body the inspector saw or piled up anger he had been trying to compress but, he instructed.

Inspector: Arrest everybody. Every single one of them.

Officers: yes sir.

Inspector: Get the dead girl’s corpse from her father.

The other two officers joined them outside with the items they found in Tina’s room.

Officer 3: Here’s what we found sir.

Inspector: Take them to the car. Then, you come for that body on the floor.

Officer: Yes sir.

All Tina did was stare at Ola’s corpse. She blamed herself for their gang’s death. Had she not helped Idowu in killing Richard, none of them would be dead. The other guys at Richard’s house that day, were killed because of her. She knew, Idowu’s men would come for those drugs but, she didn’t warn her gang about it, if not, they’d have suspected her.

She was only thinking about herself, that’s why, she killed the person she “loved” for a million.

Victoria was glad. Glad that, Ola was dead. She smiled at her daughter’s corpse, while they carried it out of the compound. She could finally look at it, without much guilt. She stopped regretting the decision of calling the cops. They had helped her avenge her daughter’s death.

James was silent and blank.

Idwou was the only one who tried to be stubborn. He had phobia for cells. He had never been there before but, the cells in movies were enough to instill fear in him. He had a lot of money in his account. Money he planned to spend on himself. If he went to prison, who would spend it?

Inspector: Idowu, don’t make me give an order, we would both regret. We still have a lot to do today. I know, you and Tina are not the only drug dealers. You’d tell me about the others. I don’t know why you are not with them. I don’t know why you’re in Tina’s house but, when we get to the station, you’d explain.

Idowu: You’re trampling on my rights.

Inspector: Since I came, I have been very nice. The moment, I saw that corpse, drugs and gun, y’all lost any d**n rights to say anything. Now, follow gently before I lose my temper.

After the gunshot that followed and the dead body that was brought out from the home. He retired from peeking through his window

The gateman refused to move, he tried not to breathe to prevent them from remembering he even existed. He hoped and prayed that Tina would not remember him and ask him to do stuff like, call her parents or something. Fortunately for him, they left. He only came out when, they drove off.

At the station, except Victoria, they were all charged for murder and drugs dealing. Though, the inspector didn’t show it, he had a special liking for Victoria. He didn’t have feelings for her, he just liked her, he had compassion that, her daughter just died and her husband who was involved in spurious deeds, would be spending alot of time in prison. He was reported to the police by his own wife and was caught in the act. If a bail would be granted (he doubted, if there would be any though), they could never be able to afford it.

He made sure her daughter’s body was transferred to a mortuary with legal documents. He asked an officer to go along with Victoria to the mortuary, just in case, she decided not to return to the hospital. He liked her, didn’t mean, he fully trusted her.

They hadn’t taken any of them to a cell yet but, they were all on cuffs at the inspector’s office taken to the investigation one by each for investigation.

While James was being interrogated, He still couldn’t shake it off. It all still felt like a bad dream, a bad dream, he couldn’t wake up from. There was no need to lie about anything, he told them everything, both things about Idowu and Tina. How he witnessed the murder at Richard’s house, he also talked about Gbenga and the boss he had always heard of but, had never seen (Mr. Johnson).

James had lost all hope. Even if, he would be released, there was no family to go back to. Laura had died and he was very sure, that Victoria would have nothing to do with him.

Tina had conflicting answers to every question. She denied murdering anyone, claiming there was no evidence and that, she needed a lawyer.

Inspector: Oh, you need a lawyer.

Tina: Yes!

Inspector: Fine, I will get you one, after we call your parents.

Tina: I asked for a lawyer.

Inspector: And, I said you’d get one. Tina: When?

Inspector: Today but, I assure you. You will go to jail. There are evidences against you and there is an eye witness who has said everything and is still willing to on say it over again. He’s a culprit like you.

Tina: Who’s that?

Inspector: That doesn’t matter.

Tina: I still need my lawyer.

The inspector leaned back on the seat in the investigation room, he signalled the officer by the side to bring Idowu inside.

Inspector turned his attention back to Tina.

Inspector: See, Tina, there’s no need to make matters complicated for yourself. The gun and the body we found in your house are even too far fetched for marking you a suspect. For the fact that, Idowu was found in your house and for the fact that you were familiar with a murderer like Ola, whether you confess or not, my dear, you already have a bed in prison.

The door opened and Idowu was seen struggling with the officer as, he didn’t want to come in.

The inspector shook his head in disgust.

Inspector: Nawa oooo, all these criminals, una go do something, still dey claim right.

Inspector: Bring him here.

Tina was headstrong, the thought of going to a cell was too horrific.

Tina: So, when do I get my lawyer?

Inspector: whenever you wish. You can go now.

Tina: I’m not going anywhere till I speak to a lawyer.

The inspector gritted his teeth.

Inspector: Tina, I’ve been trying not to act like the average Nigerian cop. Don’t push me to the wall.

Lawyer my foot. Your father. Bunch of rubbish humans. Stand up. You can see Idowu needs to occupy that space.

The look on the inspector’s face caused her to rise immediately.

Tina had left and Idowu had sat down, before the inspector stood up and asked the officer to leave before, he started with a punch.

Idowu screamed in pain.

Idowu: I thought this was an investigation.

Inspector: I know, you’re impudent, this is the only way to get the truth out of you.

Idowu: What truth again?

Inspector: What client were you gonna sell those drugs to today?

Idowu: I don’t know what you’re talking about. I wasn’t planning to sell them.

The inspector punched him harder causing blood to sprout from his nostrils.

Inspector: I don’t get why you’d lie but, I don’t have all day. You better give me an answer, else you’d end up like Ola..
