Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 28

Few days, after the shootout very close to the club, the officers were also able to apprehend Mr. Johnson. The overall boss of the drug dealers. Mr. Johnson had sworn to leave the cell by virtue of his influence. What he didn’t know was that, the inspector was ready to kill him, if he tried to leave the cell. All the inspector wanted was for them to serve their term in jail for their many crimes.

Idowu become miserable after the wound on his arm. He was treated but, not well taken care of as he would have been in an hospital. His meal portions were becoming smaller. He had developed hatred for James. He cursed the day he welcomed him into his home. He thought of the fact that, since he helped James, it had been from one trouble to another. He had been committing lots of crimes, he covered them up easily but, since James, it was all bad luck. The cell was still a nightmare to him. He saw it as a very horrible nightmare.

It was not Gbenga’s first time in jail. Unlike Idowu, Gbenga wasn’t taken to the hospital. It was his fault. The only condition at which, he would be taken to the hospital, was if he confessed his crimes but, he outrightly refused. Considering his past experiences, he preferred to die than, stay any further in prison.

The client, the officer arrested was leading to a whole new line of drug cases. New cases were opening up for the inspector and his officers. The client had already confessed everything. He even wrote a statement but, just like Tina, he was demanding for lawyer, despite all the evidences against him.

Tina was miserable. When her parents returned, they were very disappointed in her but, they couldn’t just forsake her. They were on their toes to find a good lawyer for their daughter, though, it was hopeless. The evidence of murder against her was going to be an implication. Her father didn’t speak to her. Her mother on the other hand, cried and cussed at her asking her to give her a solid reason why, she decided to bring shame to their family.

Tina would reel at the station all day. The only explanation she could bring up was, “the curse of Richard”. No matter, how she tried to wrap her head around the situation, she couldn’t help but, think Richard’s ghost was against her. She recalled the unfortunate events that occurred and they all started after Richard’s death.

Victoria was eventually released from the police custody to bury her dead. She wasn’t guilty of any crime. Besides, she was the informant of the numerous crimes that went on. According to the inspector, she deserved an award.

However, James was not allowed to join her in making preparations. He was only given permission to attend her burial ceremony with officers watching his every movement. Victoria’s plan was to start another life without any family and probably, if luck shined on her marriage with James, maybe, she would fall in love with James but, with Laura’s death still on her mind, she wasn’t ready to open her heart to anyone. She cut off contact with her parents for a while. She wasn’t ready to give them news about Laura’s demise. They were going to blame her for ever taking Laura away from their home. No of them would console her. For as long as she could remember, she had always been under the control of people, her parents, James and anyone she lived with.

She was twenty one years old, she still had a good life ahead of her, if she would embrace it.

When James heard about the conditions for attending his daughter’s burial, he was distraught. How could he not be allowed to make preparations for his daughter’s burial?

He thought of the circumstances that landed him in prison and, it just wasn’t worth it. He had lost everything. He had really hoped, prison life would last forever. There was no other life for him. He couldn’t even look Victoria in the eye without feeling shame and guilt. All he wanted was to make life better for his family but, he ended up making it worse for Victoria with the death of Laura.

A few weeks ago, he tried to shift blames of Laura’s death to Ola, Felix or Idowu, any other person, but himself. Now, all he thought of was how he murdered his six year old daughter in cold blood.

One thing, he was happy about was that, Victoria wasn’t in jail with him. He wanted her to live her life, like he didn’t exist. After Laura’s burial, he would divorce Victoria, legally or illegally. He didn’t want her to feel guilty for eloping with another man.

He realized, he had the opportunity to leave Idowu when he sent that two hundred and fifty naira. He probably should have gone out of town to start a small business that would thrive but, he wanted more and more caused him everything.

THE END……..
