Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 21

“Why is he here?!”

“We have something to tell you?”

“What?”

“Can he come in?”

“Not into my bedroom. He can wait in my living room and I’ll come there”.

“Okay. We’ll be waiting”, Adriana said and she left.

Sasha wondered what they had to tell her as she dressed up. She went to her living room and when she saw Manny, she remembered how he broke her heart.

“Hey”, he said to her as she took her seat.

“Hi”.

“Uh. I met Manny at the place where I went to hang out with my new friends and we started talking and uhm and now we’re kind of dating”, she said and Sasha was taken aback.

“Huh? Dating?” Sasha asked and she laughed.

“Yeah”, Adriana said to her.

“And why are you two telling me. I don’t really care”.

“Adriana suggested that we let you in incase you still have feelings or anything of that sort”.

“Feelings? Oh please. I can’t have feelings for someone who cheats and tells lies”.

“He’s changed Sasha”.

“How do you even know that? You just talked for a day and all of a sudden you know that”.

“I’ve changed”, Manny said to her.

“Sure. If you two want to date, no problem, it’s not my business”.

“It is your business Sasha. I’m your friend”.

“And as a friend you wouldn’t just get up and decide to date my ex out of all the 1001 men you’ve come across”.

“It just happened and I like him”.

“Hmm. Let me reserve my comments. If you want to date him, fine. But I’ll not be cool being around him”.

“Why not?”

“Because he cheated on me and lied about it. I don’t like someone like that around me”.

“He’s not the same person Sasha”.

“I’ve had it with you telling me that. As I said I don’t have a problem”.

“Thank you Sasha and I’m really sorry for what I did. I was just not in my right mind and if I could go back and change things, I would”.

“Okay”, she said to him with a straight face.

“We’ll be leaving now”, she said to Sasha and Sasha walked away.

Sasha was about to pick her phone and call her friends and Adriana walked in.

“Sasha, I know you’re mad. But I just like him. I’ve liked him for a while now”.

“Yeah. You’ve liked him since we were dating. That’s why you kept asking of him back then”.

“Hmm. That’s true but I kept it to myself. I knew you were with him. And even when you broke up, I didn’t try anything. But then when we met. Things sparked up and it just happened”.

“What happened to you exploring and not wanting to settle down?”

“I’m still doing that. Manny and I are not too serious yet maybe when it gets there, then I might settle”, she said and Sasha shook her head.

“Whatever Adriana. All the best to you two.”

“Oh Sasha you still seem mad. I don’t want you to be mad at me. You’re my favorite person”.

“It’ll take sometime”.

“Hmm. Okay. I’ll wait to out. I love you”, she said, pecking her on her cheek and she left.

“Aarghh!!” Sasha said and she quickly took her phone and called her friends.

Sasha was at the clinic, talking to Mavis about her current relationship.

“So do you see yourself getting married to him in the next two years?”

“Uhmmm. I’m not too sure”.

“Why not? He’s not the person I thought he was”.

“What do you mean by that?”

“When I met him he was charming and he was different from the other guys I had been with and he was a bit like Philip but now he’s totally different. Always trying to argue, a bit controlling and basically he’s just like me and I don’t want to be with a me”.

“Hmm don’t you think you’re just comparing him to your exes and also putting a lot of expectations on him?”

“That’s true but now that I’m seeing that he’s just like the rest and nothing like Philip, I’m being pushed to end the relationship”.

“What makes you think that Philip is the standard?”

“I don’t know but he always made me happy”.

“Hmm with what you have said so far. I think you were just so into Philip and the sex was good. There’s nothing much that’s so different from him and Ross”.

“What? No. Philip always put me first and made me happy”.

“Hmm. Let’s go back to certain situations you shared with me”.

“You said there’s this time he was being annoying and you two argued a lot and you were going to end it but he told you that he loved you and it was all that mattered and at the end, you two ended up in bed? Right?”

“Yeahhhh”.

“All your arguments lead to him professing his feelings and getting you into bed. Am I correct?” She asked and Sasha thought about it.

“Hmm. Most times”.

“And when you were with Philip, did you have much time on your hands for your friends?”

“I had Philip and they understood that. Most of them also had their own relationships so we all didn’t have that much time”.

“And what about work?”

“I spent most of my time at work”.

“Did he come over frequently and how often did you talk via phone calls”.

“We were too into each other. So we talked a lot and yeah he visited frequently”.

“Okay. So can I draw to a conclusion that he was in your life 90% of the time?”

“Yeah. He was”.

“How would you describe his character to others?”.

“I don’t really know cos I wasn’t around others when I was with him. But I’ll say that he respected his parents and was cool with his friends”.

“Okay. Since you’re comparing. I’ll need you to look through your arguments and see if it was totally different from the ones you’re currently having with Ross”.

“Okay”, she said and she went deep into her thoughts.

“Hmm some are similar but Philip handled them differently”.

“How?”

“I don’t know but I wasn’t always so angry like I am with Ross”.

“So you see my point. You like Ross but not too much and that’s why everything annoys you so much and that’s why you don’t try to work things out. With Philip, you were so in love with him, so you were blind to certain things and ready to make amends. That’s not a bad thing. But I’m just saying that Philip is not that different from your exes and you shouldn’t use him as the standard”, she said to Sasha and she was quiet for a while.

“You should set your own standards and what you want in a man and also set what you would also put on the table. In that way you’ll build yourself up and build your image of what you want in a man. And the best thing to do concerning these things is to pray. I know you said you pray once in a blue moon but I think it should become more frequent”.

“Hmmm”.

“Yeah and if you’re not into this relationship, I suggest that you find a nice way to end it and be on your own for a while. Also visit Philip’s grave and make peace with his death. Then you move on Sasha. Start going to church often, pray more, get a hobby you love so much, hang out with your friends, hang out with your family, still come for more appointments, be nice to your workers and things will be better. You just have to take it one step at a time. When emotions are piling up and you want to act out, act out on your emotions in your head. Talk to yourself more. When you feel like giving a negative remark ask yourself how you would feel if you were on the other end.

And pray Sasha. I don’t say this a lot to my patients but I can’t deny what I can see God doing for you in your life if you just let him in”.

“I’ve heard you Mavis and I’ll try to put it into practice”.

They talked for a longer time and then she left.

When she was driving off, she saw the restaurant and remembered Hanson. She smiled at how they first met and she wondered what his life was like because he was always seemed so happy.

She was driving home and quickly took a u-turn to the cemetery.

She arrived there and plucked some flowers on her way in. She located Philip’s grave and sat on it. She observed it for a while and started tearing up.

“Hi Philip. I know I’ve not been a good girl by not coming to your grave since you were put to rest and I’m very sorry for that. I’ve not been able to pull myself to come here because I’m still hurt and I know coming here would make me fully accept that you’re gone. But the truth of the matter is you’re really gone and I have to accept that and move on. I will always love you Philip but now I have to love myself and take care of me. It’s been a nice ride with you but now life continues. I pray you’re in a better place Philip. Till we meet again”, she said, kissing his tomb stone and she dropped the flowers and left.

Before going home, she decided to stop by at Ross’ place to end things.

“Hey”, he said, smiling when he opened the door.

“I thought I gave you the keys to the house”.

“I think I left it at home”, she said as she walked in.

“How are you doing? I’ve not heard from you the whole day”.

“Yeah. Been quite busy”, she said, sitting down.

“Are you hungry or do you want to eat something?”

“I’m fine Ross. I came here because we need to talk”.

“Okay? What is it?”

“Hmm. I don’t know the best way to say this but I think we should take a break for a while”.

“What? Why?”

“I would have said it’s me and not you. But it’s both of us. And I’m not going to keep ignoring it. I want to work on myself Ross”.

“And you can’t do that with me?”

“No. I can’t”.

“Is this because of what happened the other time?”

“No. For that we were both wrong and I’ve let it go”.

“Sasha. We can work things out. We don’t need to break up”.

“Ross. Please just listen to me this once”.

“Are you sure there’s nothing else?”

“What else would there be?”

“I know you went to that female sex club”.

“It isn’t a sex club and what are you insinuating?”

“That you did something you regret and if you did, I’m willing to forgive. I know how that place can lure you into doing what you don’t want to do”.

“Are you serious? No, I didn’t do anything. This is just for my growth and if you don’t understand it, fine! But I’m done”, she said, getting on her feet.

“I’m sorry for saying that but I like you a lot and I don’t want to lose you”.

“It’s just a break Ross. We can still be friends though”.

“Okay. So as a friend can you hang out with me this evening?”

“I can’t. I’m tired and I need to go home”.

said

“Hmm. I hear you”.

“I’ll see you some other time Ross”, she said and she left.
