Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 35

“Surprise!” Sasha exclaimed as she flashed the documents in Hanson’s face.

“What is that?” He asked taking it from her hands and they both walked into his house.

“The place is available now for you at the same price”, she said to him.

“Wow, how did that happen?” He asked as he read the document.

“Let’s say Ross came back to his senses”, she said to him.

“How? What happened?”

“He came to my work place to apologize and he said he’s putting back the building up for sale and will give it you you for the regular price”.

“Just like that?”

“Yeah. He said he’s realized that he has issues and he wants to work on them and his first step was to make amends with me”.

“I don’t trust him. This could be another trap”.

“I also felt that way but I took this to Michael and he went through the documents and it’s legit”.

“Hmmm even if it’s legit, I suspect he is up to something”.

“Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and besides what can he do after you’ve purchased the place?”

“Hmmm. Okay, I’ll send in the money and the signed documents tomorrow”, he said to her.

“Okay and uhmm he asked if we could be friends again”.

“He’s asking for too much after what he’s put us through I don’t think it’d be wise to be friends again. Don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t feel like he’s up to something good. You can be on hi and hello terms with him but friends, I don’t think it’s wise to do that”.

“I get you and I understand. I won’t be stupid to take him as a friend again and besides he’s an ex. Having exes around you when you’re in a new relationship isn’t the best”, she said to him.

“Yeah. I’m just glad that you’re so understanding”, he said , poking her nose.

“I’m even surprised myself. I guess therapy is working”, she said, smiling.

“We thank God”.

“My mum asked of you yesterday and she was wondering when you would come over for her to see you”.

“Wow, she wants to see me?”

“Yeah. She suggested that we have a dinner with you tomorrow”.

“Tomorrow? Woaah”, he said, feeling nervous.

“Oh she’s going to love you. If Sally can tolerate you, then my mum will love you”, she said to him.

“Mmmm. Okay”.

“There’s a but though”.

“What?”

“I also invited my dad”.

“Wow! Your dad? I think I might end up peeing in my pants”, he said and she laughed.

“I don’t want you to meet my dad separately. He can be strong headed and sometimes act like a jerk. With my mum there, I’m sure he’d behave”.

“Wow. This is going to be a weird dinner”, he said.

“Oh don’t worry. You’ll be fine”.

“What do you think I should wear?”

“Oh just be yourself and wear something casual. It’s not like you’re meeting the president”, she said to him and laughed.

“I just want to impress them”.

“Trust me, if you be yourself, they’ll impressed”.

“Hmm. Okay”.

They talked for a while and then she left.

Sasha and the girls were in Rachel’s room. She told them that she had finally made a decision and was ready to talk.

They were all on her bed as they spoke about other things and patiently waited for her to break the news.

“So Ross just gave it back just like that”, Alicia asked.

“Yeah. I was surprised but I’m sure he’s just trying to better himself”.

“Hmm, or he’s just trying to win you back”, Rachel said, smiling.

“Oh no. I’m in love with Hanson and I don’t think there’s anyone who can make me feel the way he does”.

“Mmm, you never know what could happen”, Lilian said, winking.

“No way. Since I got with Hanson, I’ve been so happy and when I’m with him, I just forget about everything and he always knows just what to say to me every time. When I’m angry, he says the right things, when I’m happy, he elevates it, when I’m sad, he makes me feel better. We’ve been together for a short time but it feels like we’ve known each other for years”, Sasha said, smiling.

“Aww, that’s so nice”, Alicia said, smiling.

“So you’re not attracted to Ross anymore?” Lilian asked.

“No. I care about him though but the attraction is gone”.

“Mmm, I see”.

“So have you guys done the deed already?” Alicia asked her.

“Girl, you know he’s a strong Christian”, Rachel said to her.

“And so? Do you how many Christians I know who don’t care about that?” Alicia asked.

“Hanson is different. He believes that God knows best and he’s willing to wait till we get married. He always says that God will make everything beautiful in His time”.

“Aww, that’s nice”, Lilian said, smiling.

“Oh so now are you on team Hanson?” Rachel asked.

“No way. I’m still team Ross. Ross also didn’t do the deed so. There’s no difference”.

“That’s because I didn’t let him do it. I was still hung up on Philip and I wasn’t ready to do it. We just kissed and made out and that’s all”.

“So you haven’t even made out with Hanson?” Alicia asked.

“No we’ve just kissed and cuddled. And even with that, he always has a problem with it”.

“What’s his problem? Isn’t he attracted to you or what?” Alicia asked.

“Of course he is. And that’s why he has a problem with it. He feels he’ll not be able to control himself if we keep kissing and cuddling”.

“I see”.

“Maybe the other Christians in my church should learn from him”, Alicia said, laughing.

“Aren’t you part of the so called Christians?” Rachel asked.

“Well me, I’ve not claimed it on my head. I’m just there. But some people are always doing themselves holier than thou but what they do in secret is so not holy. Lilian for example”.

“Me? What have I done?”

“Haven’t you had sex with Ralph?”

“Eww that’s too much information. I don’t want to know that”, Sasha said, chuckling.

“I want to know”, Alicia said.

“Hmm, we have but it’s once in a while. Abstaining is quite difficult you know”, Lilian said to her.

“I see”, Alicia said, smirking.

“Are you really judging me? Your body count is over the bar”.

“Well, I’m not claiming to be a Christian. I’m not grey unlike you. I just go to church to keep my sanity atleast”.

“You’re still being grey. It’s either you’re in or you’re out”, Sasha said to her.

“Whatever. My grey isn’t as dark as Lilian’s”.

“I can’t believe she’s judging me”. Lilian said to her.

“I am. You Christians act like those verses where God spoke about these things don’t exist”.

“You know what? I’m done having this conversation”, Lilian said, getting off the bed.

“Why is it shooking you so much?” Alicia asked.

“Alicia that’s enough. No one has the right to judge anyone. What we can do is help each other and rebuke someone when they’re wrong”, Sasha said to her.

“And that’s what I’m doing”.

“You’re in no position to rebuke her”.

“Whatever”.

“You all that’s enough. Lilian please come and sit and let me say what I’ve decided”, Rachel said and Lilian got back on the bed.

“So I’m not too sure if this is what I really want but I’ve called off the wedding”, she said and they all heaved a sigh of relief.

“Whoop, thank God”, Sasha said.

“Is that what you all wanted me to say?” Rachel asked and looked at each other.

“Yeah. It’s better to call it off for now and see how things go”, Lilian said.

“But I feel so someway about it. I don’t want my child to have a broken family”, Rachel said.

“It’s better than being in an unhappy family. Atleast your baby would have two lovely happy parents”, Alicia said to her.

“How did Archie take it?”

“He wasn’t too happy but he said he’s going to fight for this and show me that he’s not going to do that but I don’t know if I can ever truly let this go. I keep wondering, what if I didn’t find out? Would he have continued with it even after we get married? And if he ever has to travel again? Then what? Does he expect me trust that he won’t mess up. I just can’t get married now but I want to because I love him but I don’t trust him and all this just hurts a lot”, she said, tearing up and the girls tried to comfort her.

“I believe you made the right decision. I know it hurts and it’s not easy but you have us and you have family. We’ll all be there for you during this time”, Sasha said to her.

“Thank you”, she said, forcing a smile in between her sobs.

They stayed with her for sometime and then they left.

Sasha and her family were all at the dining table as they waited for Hanson.

“Are you sure he’s going to come?” Ann asked her.

“I’m sure. Let’s just wait a bit”, she said as she texted him.

“So you’re back with Andre”, Sasha’s dad said to Ann.

“Yeah”, she said, smiling.

“I thought you said you didn’t like him”.

“Fred. What’s your problem now? We’re here for Sasha and not to discuss my love life”.

“I just find it weird that you always said you didn’t like him and he was arrogant and acted like he owned the world and now you’re with him”.

“That was years ago and now I don’t see him that way!”

“I see”.

Sasha was getting worried and was about to call him but then he walked into the dining room with the caretaker.

“Thank you”, he said to her and she left.

“Hi, good evening”, he said, and Sasha got up to hug him.

“I’m sorry I’m late”, he said as he took his seat by Sasha.

“What’s in the bag?” Sasha asked as she looked at the big paper bag in his hands.

“It’s a new recipe I tried today and I decided to prepare some for everyone”, he said and he placed it on the table.

“Aww, that’s so sweet. Thank you”, Ann said, smiling at him.

“You’re welcome”.

“We were waiting for you to get here but since you’re here now, we can eat”, She said as she got up to serve everyone. She made sure that everyone got some of Hanson’s food too.

“Wow. This tastes so great”, Sally said, as she ate Hanson’s food.

“Thank you”, he said to her.

“Will it be possible to employ you as my personal chef”, she said and Sasha glared at her.

“Sally behave”, Ann said to her.

“I’ll be honored but I’m quite busy now”, he said to her.

“So I hear you’re opening your own restaurant”, Ann said to him.

“Yes ma’am”.

“Oh just Ann would be fine”.

“Okay”.

“That’s amazing though. I can’t wait to see how it turns out”, she said to him.

“How are your parents doing?” Fred asked.

“They’re fine sir”.

“Okay. What does your dad do?”

“He was a lecturer but he’s retired now”.

“Oh I see. Which school did he lecture at?”

“Uhmm, University of Fenty”.

“Oh okay. And your mum?”

“She owns a supermarket”.

“Wow? That’s amazing, where is it located at?”

“It’s by my parent’s house in Hugo”.

“Ohh. I see. So it’s more like a small shop?”

“Not too small, not too big”.

“Okay”.

“How many siblings do you have?” Ann asked him.

“I have a big sister and a small brother”.

“You have a small brother?” Sasha asked, surprised.

“Yeah. I thought I told you”.

“I don’t think you did”.

“Oops sorry. I guess he skipped my mind”.

“How old is your younger brother?” Samantha asked.

“Why? Do you want to see if you have a chance?” Sally asked and Samantha ignored her.

“He’ll be turning 18 this year”.

“Oops, he’s a small boy”, Sally said to Samantha.

“I’ll love to see him. It’ll be nice to have a younger brother”, Samantha said, smiling.

“I’m sure you’ll meet him one day”.

“Okay”.

“So what does your sister do?” Fred asked and Ann rolled her eyes at him.

“She’s a nurse”.

“Is she married?”

“No sir”.

“Okay and you. So you chose to be a chef?”

“Life threw me in that direction but now I love it”.

“So are you going to be a chef forever?”

“Fred?” Ann. Asked, lifting her brows.

“I don’t think so sir”.

“So you have other plans?”

“Yeah. I studied pharmacy back in college. I plan to further my studies later and then open up my own company”.

“That’s great. Do you have the resource for that?” He and Ann glared at him.

“I believe I will by the time I’m ready to open it”.

“Or you’re just going to use my daughter’s hard earned money?”

“Dad!??” Sasha exclaimed and Sally chuckled.

“What? I have to know”.

“I believe my restaurant would have made me enough money to start it up”.

“Oh the same restaurant you’re starting up with money you drained from another young man who worked hard for it”.

“Fred!!!!”

“With all due respect sir. I didn’t drain anyone. This is how life works. When you break the law by trying to bully another person, you get what’s coming to you”.

“I don’t mean to come off as a mean person, I’m just looking out for my daughter. I wouldn’t want someone who’s not worked hard enough to just swoop into my daughter’s life and enjoy her hard earned money”.

“Dad, can you just stop?!”

“It’s fine Sasha. Sir, I’ve worked hard my whole life. I’ve been working since I was a teenager. I did several works to help myself when I was in college, I got out of college and worked in a huge pharmaceutical company, life threw a ball at me and I still came out of it and now by the grace of God, I’ll be opening up my restaurant which would turn out to be the best in this city”, he said and Sasha reached out for his hands and squeezed it.

“Great. We can’t wait to see how it turns out”, Fred said, smiling.

“I know it’ll be the best ever. You’ve got great cooking skills and if you ever need any help with the interior and the kitchen area, I’m the best woman for you”, she said, smiling.

“It wouldn’t be for free though”, Fred added in and Ann kicked him from under the table.

“We can go if you want to leave”, Sasha said to him.

“I’m okay”.

“You sure? My dad is really being a jerk and I wouldn’t be offended if you want to leave?”

“I’m fine, Sasha”.

“So where did you learn how to cook? I’ll like to learn too”, Ann said to him.

“I watch videos a lot and I like to try new things. Everyday I’m trying something new. Sometimes it turns out good, sometimes not too good”.

“Wow. I’ll be glad if you could have a cook day with my and my friends. We’d love to learn a lot from you”.

“No problem. I’ll love to do that”.

“I’m sure they’ll pay you good money for that or can you afford to do it for free?”

“Dad? What’s your problem today? I can’t have this anymore. Hanson let’s go”, Sasha said to him.

“I was joking Sasha. Relax”.

“Babe, let’s go okay”, she said to him.

“It was nice having a dinner with you all. I’ll take my leave now”, he said and he left with Sasha.

“You’re a huge d–k Fred. I hope you choke on that food”, Ann said and she left.

“It’s just me and you now”, He said to his twins and Samantha left.

“Oh c’mon Sammy. I was just joking and trying to grill him”, he said to her and she left.

“Oops, you’ve got a lot of apologizing to do”, Sally said to him.

“Did I over do it?”

“Yeah, I guess”.

“I just wanted Ross for her and I’m not happy that she’s going for someone like Hanson. See your mum is even inviting him for a cook out. I’m supposed to invite him for a game or a car ride or something but he’s just not it”.

“I think he’s a nice person and I actually prefer him to everyone Sasha has dated”.

“Really?”

“Yeah”.

“I guess I’ll have to apologize and make it up to him”, He said and Sally nodded.
