Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 6
âYou! I remember you! What are you doing here?â
âMm. Looks like someone has forgotten my nameâ, he said, smiling. âAnd it seems you have an amnesia too because Iâm sure whoever informed you that I was here also included that Iâm a lawyerâ.
âOkay Mr smart pants. Did my dad send you here?â She said, taking her seat across him.
âMiss not too smart herself. Of course he sent meâ.
âIs this how youâre going to address your client ?â She asked.
âYouâre not my client yet. Till you sign thisâ, he said, handing over the document to her.
âI canât sign anything till I take my time to read every freaking thing on this paperâ.
âOkay, youâre smart after all â.
âIf you keep up with that attitude, Iâm going to fire you this minuteâ.
âThe same way you fired two of your workers? And Iâm not working for you yet till you sign that documentâ.
âOkay. Then Iâm sure you wonât mind if I take my time to read thisâ.
âTake all the time you needâ, he said to her.
âOkayâ, she said, reading the papers.
As she read the papers, he just kept staring at her till she caught him.
âIf you keep staring at me that way. Iâm going to sue for sexual harassmentâ, she said and he chuckled.
âAnd Iâll tell the judge that itâs not my fault that my new client was so gorgeousâ, he said, smirking.
âYou hitting on me again? This is double sexual harassmentâ, she said to him.
âThereâs nothing wrong with appreciating Godâs creation and giving complimentsâ.
âI see. If you donât mind, Iâll like to get back to reading thisâ, she said and she read it till she was done.
âIâm done and everything looks okayâ, she said, signing it and giving it back to him.
âIâve got my own rules thoughâ, she said to him.
âHit me withâ.
âStop trying to hit on me. Or Iâm going to fire youâ.
âIt depends on what you term as âhit onââ.
âYou know what. Letâs just get done with thisâ, she said.
âOkay, so tell me everything that happenedâ, he said to her and the actual meeting began.
At night , the weather was so bad due to the heavy rain pour which also caused a huge storm. Usually, when it happens like this, Sasha, her mum and her siblings spend their time in the main hall by the fireside, telling themselves how their previous days had been. It was a family tradition for them though they all hated it especially when their parents got a divorce.
âMum, do we really need to do this?â Sally said to her mum, groaning.
âYes, now sit. Whereâs Sasha?â
âSheâs not home yetâ Sheâs coming.
âOkay. Then letâs wait for herâ.
They waited for a while till Sasha arrived.
âSo now that weâre all here, letâs start with Sallyâ.
âMum! Just start with Sammy, sheâs the one who enjoys thisâ.
âNo, you start, as mum saidâ, Samantha said, scowling.
âWhatâs with the face. You know what fine. Iâm still dating my boyfriend which has lasted for 2 months now. Unlike some peopleâ, she said and Sasha ignored her.
âAnd classes are going well, itâs just that the lecturers and some of the students get on my nerves. I canât wait to be done with school. And dad promised to get me a new car on our birthday and I intend to also buy a house for myself and finally leave you all here andâŠâ
âA house?â Sasha asked.
âYeah. Unlike you, I want to live alone and have my peaceâ.
âYou are the one whoâs been obstructing our peaceâ, Samantha said to her.
âOh pleaseâ.
âThatâs enough. Youâre not moving out of here till youâre done with the schoolâ, Ann exclaimed.
âWhy? A lot of my friends live aloneâ.
âYou are not them. And you canât live alone. What do you know about owning a house? Have you ever paid a bill before?â
âMum, how will any of us find out if I donât do it and see how it goesâ.
âYou think itâs easy. Fine, from today, youâll start paying any bill concerning you and your room and every other thing you use in the house. Youâll also do your own laundry, cook your own food, clean your place and take care of everything concerning you. If you can do all that? Then Iâll let you get your own placeâ.
âMum, thatâs cruel. No one does their laundry or any chore in this house. I donât even know how to cook and if I get my own place, Iâll have someone to do all thatâ.
âIâve said my piece. If you want to be able to buy your own place. Then you do thatâ.
âFine! For how long?â
âA monthâ.
âOkay. Thatâs easyâ.
âAlright. We shall see. Sasha tell us yoursâ.
âJust work, hanging out with friends and finding out the my boyfriend has a baby and a baby mamaâ.
âOuchâ, Sally said to her.
âAs I was saying before a bed bug tried to interrupt. So yeah, we broke up and Iâm fine. Iâll also be having a work dinner this weekend. Youâre all invited. And yeah, I fired two of my workers and they decided to sue me and I asked dad for one of his lawyers and he sent his new older girlfriendâs sonâ.
âA new older girlfriend?â They all asked in unison.
âOops. I thought he had told you all by nowâ.
âNo, he hasnâtâ, Samantha said.
âDid you say she was older?â Sally asked.
âYeah. Just like mumâ.
âHey. Iâm not old. Iâm still youngâ, she said, smiling and they all laughed.
âYeah of course. No woman has got anything on you mumâ, Sasha said to her mum.
âThank youâ, she said, smiling. âSo it seems like heâs serious with her?â Ann asked.
âThatâs what he said but I canât tellâ.
âOkayâ.
âMum, I hope youâre fineâ, Samantha asked, placing her head on her.
âYeah. I amâ, she said, wrapping her arms around her.
âOkay, letâs continueâ, she said and they continued their conversation.
Sasha arrived at work the following morning. She was quite late and when she got to the conference room, Lilian and Ross were having a good laugh.
âMmmmâ, she said, clearing her throat.
âOh sheâs hereâ, Lilian said, smiling.
âWhatâs he saying thatâs making you laugh so loud?â She asked.
âOh, he was just telling me about a few things in the world of lawâ.
âIsnât that supposed to be boringâ? Sasha asked.
âItâs not. Iâll leave you two to have your meetingâ, she said to her and was about to leave when Ross interrupted her.
âHey Lilian What do you say to us continuing this conversation over dinner tonight?â He asked her.
âThatâs not possible. Weâre having a girlâs night tonightâ,Sasha said to him.
âAre we?â Lilian asked.
âYes. Have you forgotten?â
âIf thereâs one, Iâll skip. You donât mind me skipping right?â Lilian asked and Sasha walked closer to her and whispered in her ear.
âHeâs married and heâs got lots of kidsâ, she said to Lilian and she frowned on hearing that.
âI will rather have my girlâs nightâ, she said and she stormed out of the conference room.
âWhat did you say to her?â
âCan we just focus on our meeting?â She asked and he nodded.
