Weeks turned into months and Ukeh was no more sure if ever he would get off the sea alive. He already made friends in the ship and they’ve all learnt not to complain of any ailments to avoid been thrown into the sea. Many kept quiet about thier ailments and finally died from them. It was hell.

Bassey and Okon were two boys that Ukeh have become close to.They were age mates and they were nice people.

Do you think this journey will end? Okon asked one day.

He got no reply

“But wait Ukeh, do you think your sister made it out of this hell? I mean how can you be sure she will survive this torture?

“Nti is a brave girl. She is strong and I know she made and she is out there somewhere.

As the boys kept chatting. Robert stepped in and announce to them to prepare to come down for they have arrived.

The slaves were all bundled like animals out of the ship and lined up. The place was obviously a market place filled with white men and women.

“What do you think they want to do with us” Okon asked

“I don’t know but something tells me they want to sell us”

“Oh God, does it mean we will all be separated again? At that point, Robert came in.

“Hello my business partners, alas we are back. After more than 2months at sea. I have brought with me only the bravest, the strongest and the smartest. You can see I’ve got a fine selection and so you can view them on display here and let the auction begin. Let the highest bidder go with the price.

And that was how one by one the slaves were sold out.

Ukeh was scared. How was he going to find Nti? She may probably be sold already. He looked at his friends.”Listen, I do not know if we will see again.But my mission here is to find two young women. My sister and the old man’s grand daughter. Nti and Amara. Incase you come across Nti or Amara you must tell them about me. Whoever buys me please listen for thier names as I will listen for yours. With thier names we can find each other. Promise me, promise me now please.

They promised him. And just then, Robert pulled Ukeh up, it was his turn to be auctioned.
