Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 26

For three weeks Amara stayed away from Ukeh, And Ukeh understood why. He also gave her the distance she wanted but there was something bothering him. He needed to know if this was the same Amara, the grand daughter to Kunti the brave, the old man he met during his journey to the white man’s land. He had tried to talk with her but she kept on avoiding him, and so he decided to allow her take her time but he always monitors her to make sure she was safe.

His friendship with little Tom had grown so strong that they now attend his church together. Little Tom even gave him a small Bible which Ukeh always read morning and evenings. His love for God was growing stronger by the day and soon he started telling his fellow Africans about Jesus.

One morning as he gathered them to share a little sermon and pray before the normal day’s activity, little Tom walked up to them and joined them in praying.

“I must say I am very proud of the man that Bush has become, I am glad that He heard about Jesus, he accepted Jesus and also have been sharing the gospel of Jesus with you all. I know you all just hate the whites for all they do to you and most expecially my father, but I must let you all know that I am not like my father, I am more like you than him. Even if we are of different tribes and colour, we are all one. The love of Christ I have within me has made me to understand that all men are equal before God. I know it would be hard to many of us because of what we have suffered but I want you to please because of Christ who gave himself to die for you and i, please have a forgiving spirit and try to forgive everyone who have wronged and offended you in one way or the other. Black or white and most expecially my father”

There was a loud murmur in the place. But he continued.

“It’s alright, it’s alright, I know bits not going to be easy but I pray that Jesus plants his love and spirit of forgiveness in us all, let him heal our broken spirits and restore joy within us so that we can have forgiveness for all.

He turns and walks away as the crowd dispatched for their various assignment.

Ukeh also walked away to look for Amara. She never joins them for the prayer , she just goes about her normal duties and she has finally accepted master Tom’s constant rape as one of her duties and so she no longer struggles with him, whenever he sends for her, she just undress and relaxes for him to have his way and then she picks up herself and walks away.

Ukeh found her picking some corns from the corn farm. As soon as she saw him she tried to rush away but he had made up his mind not to let her escape him anymore.

“Not so fast Amara, you ain’t escaping me this time”

“Agatha, please call me Agatha”

“Since when?” Ukeh asked “since when have we begin to dance to the tune of the white man”

She tried to walk out on him but Ukeh held her.

“I told you, you won’t escape me this time, I need to talk to you and you’ve been avoiding me for reasons I don’t know”

She tried to walk out again but Ukeh blocked her way.

“Get off my path if not I will report you to master Tom for obstruction of my morning duties.”

“Go ahead, report me but I must talk to you and until I am done you ain’t going no where” Ukeh replied.

But she was a stubborn girl too. She pushed him off and he fell to the side because he wasn’t expecting it. She quickly ran away fast from him as he was shouting “Amara, Amara”

Without looking back she walks away to continue her morning duties else where..

To be continued.
