Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 37

And the war continued for months, the fight for the freedom of the slaves. The case was taken to court and the white men gave thier reasons why africans should serve them. They also told lots of lies that theyve treated the africans well ever since they arrived. At a point they brought someone to testify.

Ukeh watched as the black man walked slowly inside the court. And when he finally raised his head Ukeh was shocked. It was Smart.

Ukeh wondered what it was he wanted to say. And as the judge asked him to speak, Ukeh kept his eyes fixed on him.

“The whites are nice people, ever since my master, Master Tom took me in, he has treated I and the others very well. He has been nice to us. He gives us free food, free clothes and we are well well taken care of. We have nothing to offer him for his kind gesture to us, and I don’t think working in his farm to appreciate his good works to us should be considered as slavery. My fellow African brothers and sisters are just been ungrateful.

Ukeh was filled with anger, he turned and looked at master Tom who had a big smile on his face, he wanted to punch Smart in his face but somehow he managed to remain calm.

But he stood up and presented himself as a witness. And luckily for him he was granted the opportunity to speak.

“I speak not just for myself but for my entire people and all who have been taken from their homes. I do not blame Mr Smart for covering up for Master Tom. I believe master Tom has something against him that is making him talk in defence of him like this.

There was a little noise in the court but Ukeh continued.

“Yes! That is the way of the american, that is the way of the white man. Okay, let me not say the white man because some of this whites are the ones who have stood by us and fought this fight. How can you forcefully take a man from his home, his family and friends, his country, you bring him to your country to work for you. You price and sell him like common goods, you treat him like an animal just because of his skin color and you say you are being nice. If all we have seen and endured is the definition of being nice then please we do not want it. I have watched as Africans are tortured and killed, our women raped and casted out, we demand our freedom, we didnt ask to be brought to your lands, take us back to our fathers land. Ukeh concluded.

As they stepped out of court master Tom went to him. “Bush I hate you and I will deal with you.”

Ukeh saw him talking with Kelvins father. And he knew they were talking about him. He ignored them and walked up to Tommy.

“Your fathers are planning. I am sure whatever it is they are talking about is not nice. I know they won’t hurt the both of you but you know we don’t matter to them. Please be careful so they don’t trace the two of you to our hideout. ”

And they all agreed.

Kelvin: Tommy, how is Nti holding up?

“I don’t really know but unheard she is fine. My father has disowned me and banned me from coming home. But she is fine. Agatha is taking care of her”

“Does Amara know that she is my sister already?” Ukeh asks

“No I don’t think so. They do not know anything about each other and I think its best and safer for them for now”

They all agreed and then parted ways. They were headed for same destination but they don’t work together to avoid been followed.
