Ukeh and Ola ran deeper and deeper inside the forest. “Are we there yet? Ukeh kept asking, but ola kept going.

Ukeh was getting worried as the race seemed to be endless. And he was beginning to wonder what if he had listened to Nma. And suddenly ola said something but he didn’t hear it.

“What did you say? ” He asked.

“I said we are here”

Ukeh turned and looked around the big iroko tree, but no one was there.

“I don’t understand, is this the place?” He asked to be sure he heard right.

“You heard me Ukeh, we are here and this is the place.” Ola replied.

“But I thought you said the white boy is here, and that he is about raping a girl, and that one day it could be Nti that would be raped. Where is he? Where is the white boy? Ukeh asked confused.

“You see Ukeh, that is the thing about you. You feel you are special, you are brave and powerful, you feel are a god who can get anything he wants, but sorry to disappoint you brother, you are not a god.

“What are you talking about ola? I don’t get you.what are you saying?

“I am saying you are not a god brother, you are not”

A confused Ukeh looked at Ola and didn’t understand a word of what he was saying.

“Look Ola enough of this joke. We are here for business. Where is the white boy. Where is the girl?

Suddenly five white men came out from thier hidings with thier long guns pointing to Ukeh. Ukeh was shocked as he looked at them. He wondered why they were pointing at just him and not Ola.

“Is he the one?” One of the white men asked. And Ola nodded

“Ola what is going on here? Why are you chatting with the white man.” Ukeh asked in their native language so the men don’t understand what he is saying.

Ola taps him on his shoulder.

“You see, Ukeh you were there for me during my sad times. But a man got to do what he’s got to do to survive.

Ukeh quickly understood that His friend Ola has betrayed and sold him to the white boys.

“You bastard. You turn your back on your brother and join hands with these men?

Am sorry brother, they’ve given me what you can’t.

“Tie him up” one ordered

And Ukeh struggles to fight back but he is overpowered.
