Ola watched as Ukeh was dragged away. There was no at of pity in his eyes.

“Wait wait wait please he cried out”

“What is it?” the white man shouted, do not try to play a fast game on us, if you try it. I will shoot you down.

“May I ask him a question please. ?” They looked at him and then gave him the go ahead.

“Why? Why have you done this?”

“After my sisters were taken I realized that one day it will become my turn. I had to do the only thing I know can keep me safe. I had to exchange any other person to be taken except me. These money and things I get are just extra gifts for being faithful and loyal to the white man. I am sorry Ukeh

“And how many persons have you sold from the village?”

“A total of 13, Nti included.”

“what? You were the one who sold my little sister? How could you?”

“I am sorry, I chose myself over anyone. Be it Nti, your mother or you.

“So you killed my mother too? Ukeh asked

“No I didn’t. They did. He saw me and what I was doing and tried to fight back and expose me. And they killed her. I tried to stop it but I couldn’t. I am sorry Ukeh

Ukeh couldn’t believe all he was hearing.

“I call you brother, eat with you, plan with you and you betray me like this? How wicked can you be? And for how much have you sold your brother to be slaughtered. How much am I worth brother?”

Ola was silent, he dipped his hand into his pocket and brings out a small mirror and points it to Ukeh. Ukeh was surprised to see himself in that small wooden magical glass.

“What is that?” He asked terrified

“The white man calls it mirror” I can look at my reflection from it. Isn’t it beautiful?

“I wish you could see your soul from that mirror and see how black and evil it has become. Hear this Ola, son of Abakam the great, the next time our part will cross, the next time I set my eyes on you, I will kill you.” Ukeh muttered silently in thier native language

“Your time is up black monkey, move it!

And they dragged him slapping him and pinching him all over. He tried to resist, but then something pierced his shoulders and suddenly everything went blank.
