Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 8

Priscilla’s POV:

I was happy after paying my fees. When the burser gave me the Payment slip for my fees, my joy knew no bounds. Finally, I was free from the mess I’ve gotten myself into. I can’t remember the last time I’ve ever felt Soo happy.

This calls for a celebration. I must get across to Frank. That boy just saved my ass. I felt like treating him to something nice. Maybe taking him out to a nice bar and getting him a chilled beer wouldn’t be soo bad.

Taking out my phone, I dialed his number. It didn’t take long. The moment the phone buzzed in my ear his voice came.

” Bestie,” he said in a weak sick tone. ” How are you?”

I became alarmed. He sounded terrible. ” Are you alright, Frank? You sound unwell.”

” I am unwell,” he groaned. ” I’m down with a fever. Can you come over?”

I need no prophet to tell me what to say. ” Why yes, ofcourse I’ll be coming to you. I’m Soo sorry about your fever. Can I get you something? An energy drink maybe.”

” Just come,” he shivered over the line. ” I need you.”

And the line went dead.

I stared at my phone,

“I need you.” That’s what Frank just said. He’d never said that to me before. Somehow, it made me feel important and needed.

Cynthia’s POV:

Pastor Sam was in his office when I came in. He glanced up expectantly at me. ” My, my, I wasn’t expecting you today. So how was the meeting between you two?”

He was talking about his son. ” He was busy,” was all I could reply him.

Pastor Sam’s eyes hardened. ” Busy?”

I nodded. ” Well, it’s not his fault. He seemed busy. Maybe he worked last night.”

Pastor Sam wasn’t taking that excuse lightly. ” I was with him for a few hours last night. He never went for work. How in heavens name could he be busy?”

I wasn’t ready to get into that so I chipped in immediately. ” Actually, there’s this really close friend of mine. She’s very dear to me but she is plague by her past. She needs help and she’s come to me for help. I figured you should see her as well and give her counseling.”

This was one thing pastor Sam was used to. He returned back to his chair and placed his hands on the desk. ” Well, bring her in.”

This is it. I turned to the door and called out. ” You can come in Lucy.”

Lucy stepped into the office, looking timid and innocent. I had insisted she wore a scarf which she did but she was strong in wearing her jeans.

Pastor Sam’s eyes lit up when he saw her. The moment she stood before him, I knew instantly that she’d made an impression on him.

Turning to me, he asked, ” Is this your friend?”

” Yes Sir,” I answered, watching him.

His eyes returned to Lucy and he stood up to extend a hand over to her. ” You are welcome. What is your name?”

” Lucy,” she said, a little shy and embarrassed as she shooked his hand.

” That’s good. Sit down, sit down,” he urged her and turned to me. ” And you too, Cynthia.”

I was sure Lucy was just as uncomfortable as me. The last thing I want to do is to seat before my pastor and tell him that my closest roommate was in love with me. I don’t want to make her life this miserable before a pastor. The best I could do is to let her do the talking.

” So what exactly is the problem?” Pastor Sam asked Lucy.

Lucy turned to me as if I was her spokes man. I began regretting ever bringing her here. Was she expecting me to say anything?

Then to my relief, she told him everything. She told him about her high school past. She told him she was a cultist and a lesbian. She didn’t mention anything about the masturbating part where I caught her in the bathroom nor did she mentioned about her feelings for me. It was the most embarrassing counselling I had to sit through.

Pastor Sam was expressless as if he’d heard of things far worse than what Lucy just told him.

” It’s alright, I have heard you.” he said then turning to me, he added. ” Thank you for bringing your friend for this counseling. I’ll have to have a private one on one talk with her. Excuse us for a while.”

I was glad he made that suggestion. It was Soo uncomfortable staring in front of my pastor with a lesbian who’s in love with me, sitting beside me.

The moment I left, I let out a sigh of relief. Thinking about it now, I began to realize just how much Lucy had passed through. My mind dwelled on what she told me last night:

” When I met you and realized how different you were from other girl’s I’ve met, I instantly fell in love with you,” Lucy had said.

She loved me. No other man had ever said that to me before. I’ll admit it, I do feel a little strange whenever I think about it. If Lucy had been a man, the effect would’ve been different.

But Lucy was a woman and I was a woman as well. It isn’t proper. It never does.

Still, I can’t deny how it makes me feel whenever I remembered how she said it.

” I love you.”

Coming from a man it sounds casual and nerving but coming from a woman it sounds exotic and exciting.

Gloria’s POV:

Dropping me home, Adeola leaned out of the car with a big smile on his face. ” Thanks for your company today, Gloria. You do know how to lift a man’s spirit.”

” I should be the one thanking you,” I smiled as well. ” I must admit, I feel kinda sad for your son. He must be going through quite a lot.”

Adeola was startled. ” It’s nice for you to be concern about him. Most girls wouldn’t.”

” I love kids,” I said. ” It breaks my heart to hear someone going through hell especially when he’s a child.”

Adeola didn’t say anything. He was thinking about something.

” I just wish there was something I could do,” I added, uncomfortable with the silence.

” Well, there is something,” he said sharply as if an idea just struck him. ” But I’m not sure you’re going to like it.”

He already have a plan?

” What is it? If I don’t like it then I’ll tell you.”

Adeola looked away, a little uneasy. ” Let me ask you a question, Gloria. Do you really like kids?”

Now that’s a question. ” Yes I do.”

” Do you care about me?” He asked and this time around, there was that broken note in his voice that keeps aching my heart.

I screwed my eyes. What sort of question was that? But then again, I asked myself, did I really cared about this rich stranger?

” Yes,” I answered. ” I do care about you.”

Adeola turned back to me. ” Then I’m asking you. Would you accept to work in my house as a maid?”

I pulled away, my eyebrows drawn down into a frown. ” A maid?”

” I’ll pay you,” he was talking fast. ” Just name your price. Work for me as a maid for a period of time. I’ll–”

” Wait, wait, wait,” I interrupted him. ” What are you saying? That I become a maid? For what reasons exactly?”

Adeola drew closer to me. ” Try to understand. It just struck my head now that the only solution to my problems is you.”

” Me?”

” Yes, look, it’s pretty simple. You see, my wife is a very difficult woman to live with. Because of that, she’s always changing maids by the week. As it stands now, she’s looking for a maid but her reputation as a hard woman had spread. She couldn’t find a maid for weeks now. Junior is a helpless little child and he needs all the support he can get. My wife and I can’t be there for him all the time. What I want you to do is to play as a maid for me. I have a plan.”

I glared at him. In as much as I liked him and respected him, I didn’t like the idea of becoming a maid. That was the last thing I’ve ever wanted to do. I could be his mistress, I could be his side chick but I would never be a maid.

Never!

” What are your plans?” I asked.

” You said you like kids and you also mentioned you cared about me. You’re a pretty girl, my wife isn’t. She hates me and doesn’t give a crab about me anymore. I want to make her jealous.”

That’s the most stupidest thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life. ” Jealous?”

He nodded. ” I’ve never cheated on her before neither had I ever brought a woman to my house. All her maid huntings were usually done by her. By bringing you into my house to act as a maid, I’d be stirring the waters her. She wouldn’t feel comfortable with you because she’d be having negative thoughts about us. That’s what I want her to think. I want her to think that I have an option that I–”

” I’m not going to do it,” I interrupted him sharply.

” Why? But you said you cared about me.”

” Yes, I care about you but I also care about my life. I don’t want a crazy religious wife coming after me when I’m trying not to get myself involved in a situation like that. Look I’ve gone through a lot with lots of men but I’m most cautious about their wives. It’s an experience I wouldn’t like to be involved in. I like you, but I’m not going to do this. Find yourself another girl. I’m not going along with this.

He studied me for a long time. ” How much do you want?”

” Stop it, I don’t need your money.”

” Just tell me, how much do you want. I’ll pay you.”

Grabbing hold of my bag, I stepped out of the car. ” Goodbye, Adeola.”

” Wait,” he grabbed my arm. ” I’ll give you #200,000 to do it. That’s fair isn’t it.”

” Let go off me. I said I’m not going to do anything.”

” How about #400,000. Come on, Gloria. Isn’t it Money you want? I’ll pay you. Do this for me, for my son.”

I prised my arm off him and shut the door. ” Don’t force me, Adeola. I’m not going to be part of this and that’s final.”

” At least think about it.”

” I won’t and I won’t change my mind either,” I said and walked away.

Priscilla’s POV:

Frank was shivering when I came in. I’ve never seen him like this before in a very long time. He was wrapped up in a blanket like a mommy. I must say, he must be very sick.

” Bestie,” I ran up to him and sat on the bed next to him. ” What happened to you?”

” Fever,” he shivered.

I felt his temperature. He was fine, his temperature was normal. Perfectly normal.

” Haven’t you seen a doctor, yet?”

He shooked his head.

” Have you taken drugs?”

He shooked his head, still shivering.

” What about food? You must’ve eaten right?”

He shooked his head.

I became irritated. ” Well you have to eat something. You can’t go on shaking your head from side to side. Look, I’m gonna buy you lunch right now and take you to see a doctor.”

” I don’t want that.”

” Then what do you want?” I felt his temperature again. ” You look normal but it seems like the fever is still heating up. Come on, get yourself together. Aren’t you a man?”

” I don’t want that.”

I sighed. ” Then what do you want me to do?”

Frank looked away from me. ” Priscilla can you spend the night here with me?”

I screwed my eyes. ” Spend the night with you?”

” Do that and I’ll feel better.”

I regarded him. ” Frank why would you want me to spend the night with you?”

He didn’t say anything.

” Frank,” I called, becoming nervous. ” Say something.”

” Because I need you,” he said. ” You’re the only person I can talk to now.”

I drew closer to him on the bed and touched his arm. ” Did something happened to you today, Frank.”

Frank pulled away from me. He held his blanket tight over him and there was that far away look in his eyes that alerted me. ” I got dumped by Susan.”

I gasped. ” No way, why would she do that?”

Susan was Frank’s girlfriend or partial girlfriend to be prescise. According to Frank, he asked her out which she accepted but she warns him she already has a boyfriend. Frank didn’t care. He believes she can learn to love two people which was absurd to me.

I knew one day it’d come to this but I wasn’t expecting it Soo soon.

” She told me her boyfriend found out about our secret relationship and he threatened to break up with her if she doesn’t leave me. She claims she loves him more than me so she had to call our relationship quit. I was soo heartbroken I suddenly caught fever,” Frank explained.

This was too much for Frank. I knew how much he cared about that girl but at the back of my mind, I was glad she’s gone. I don’t fancy the idea of double dating. Still, seeing my best friend in this broken condition made me blue. He reminded me of my own heartbreak. Frank has always been there for me. He fixed my broken heart, paid my school fees without asking for anything in return. Now he needs my help. There’s no way I could deny him anything. Even if it means staying the night with him, I’d do it.

” Are you still feeling feverish?” I asked.

He nodded with a frown on his face. ” Yes but don’t ask me to take drugs. I’m not taking anything.”

I smiled as I laid on the bed next to him and held him in my arms. ” You don’t have to worry about taking medication. You want me to stay with you? Say no more, bestie. I’m going to be right next to you to comfort you and give you strength.”

He was startled at first, then he smiled as he found his way between my boobs, using it as a pillow. ” Thank you, Priscilla. You’re the best friend anyone can ever have.”

Then to my surprise, I noticed a bulge between his legs on the blanket he wrapped himself in.

He was having an erection.
