The Wedding Contract

Episode 17

its been three weeks since the
wedding…things were moving fine..although they still have
their little fights…they made sure to act like a real couple during public appearances to
ward off suspicion…nobody knew it was a contract and not a real wedding apart from them.

Tony sat in his office that particular morning
feeling bored…he decided to play with his phone…he logged into his fb account..its been a while..his mind went to ify..he
wondered if she had a fb account…he searched her name
and found her…he saw a notification…her birthday was today..and she didn’t tell him…sometimes she baffled him….her simplicity was something else…even though
she had money now she did not for once brag about it or look down on people..she still related with people on normal basis…she
somethings visits the orphanges and widows….gives them money and other items…he decided to plan a surprise for her…he was still delibrating on what to do when he heard a knock on his door… “come in..” he said the door opened and a lady walked in….he smiled…

“hello jenny..” he spoke standing up to hug her..

“hello tony…its been a while…you look good..” jennifer said…
“and you look amazing as always..”

excitedly…she didn’t know why she was feeling elated…she took her bath…dressed up.. when
she was ready she called the driver to come drive her…throughout the drive she kept smiling to herself…the driver noticed and could not stop himself from talking… “madam…madam..this one you’re smiling like this…is there good news..??”
“good news..,?…”

“ehen na…na only two things i know when dae make woman smile like that..” he continued
“really…??..and they are..??”
“hmm..its either they are in love or oga don score goal..” ify kept quiet….tony has not touched
her….they’ve not even slept in the same room…could it be that she was falling for
him..??…no…no…it can’t be…this is just a contract and nothing more…..they soon arrived at the office “you can go but not too far…i don’t intend to stay long…i’ll call you when i’m done..” ify said and went in…she didn’t bother to knock
she just went in and the scenario that greeted her almost made her cry….there he was kissing and having s-x with a lady…she
stood there staring at them..

“if…ifaechi…you’re here..??…i…” he struggled
to cover himself..

“eerrmmm…i brought your lunch…don’t let me disturb you…please continue..” she
said and left…as she walked out she kept muttering to herself..

“why do i care…it doesn’t matter…after all the contract says we were free to see and
date other people…not like its a real marriage…why should i bother..” she said stuggling to
fight back the tears that were forming in her eyes…she was lost in thought and could not hear tony calling her until he caught up
with her…
“ifaechi..
“what…what..what is it..??” she yelled “i’m sorry…i didn’t mean for you to see that..sorry”he apologised
“you didn’t mean for me to see that but you meant to do it right..?”
“i’m sorry…it’ll never happen again…i’m really sorry..”

“what are you even apologising for…this is not a real marriage…its a contract…you’re
free to do what you want.” the tears were coming out now..she wiped them off and walked out of
the building into someone she never thought she would ever see again…

“hello baby…”

“(shocked)…donald…what are you doing here..??” she asked
“i came for you…can we talk somewhere else..??” just then tony came out…

“ify please i’m sorry…wait…who is this..” he asked upon seeing donald
“someone you don’t need to know
about…(to donald)…lets go..”
tony held her back…

“you’re not going anywhere with a
stranger..” he said
“who said he’s a stranger….let me go or i’ll create a scene…”

“are you seeing someone else..??…we’re married..” he said feeling jealous
“married you say..??…maybe you should have thought about that before s——g someone else..”

“but the contract states that we’re allowed to see other people..” tony said trying to defend himself
“then why is my going out with someone a big deal…we’re married only on paper and to the public…between us we know what this is..just a contract.”

tony let go of her hands…he was in a tight corner…there was no way he could stop her from leaving….jealousy ate him up as he watched ify leave with donald
