Episode 13

Lie down flat on the floor the both of you,” the armed men commanded Mama and myself.

I lay on the floor panting loudly, and praying to God to save us from this huge problem.

The men didn’t seem to want money, as all their attention was on Emmanuel who was lying on the sofa in the sitting room sleeping. One of the men nudged him with a gun, but when he refused to wake up the man hit him on the head with the butt of his gun.

Emmanuel screamed from the pain, and woke up to meet a gun pointed at his head.

“Nne, what’s going on here?”

I tried speaking up, but one of the men kicked me, and told me to keep mute.

I watched as one of the men, the one who seemed to be the leader came towards Emmanuel.

“Oga, you should’ve died the first time we attacked you. But you decided to act smart. Now you’ve helped me solve my problem too,” the leader said while chuckling loudly.

The man suddenly took off his mask amidst his deep laughter, and I swallowed loudly. It was Chima.

Chima was the leader of the gang, and I now realized he had brought Emmanuel to us, so that we could trust him enough to have an opportunity to k*ll me as he had wanted.

“Why are you doing this?” Emmanuel asked with blood pouring from his head where he had been hit with the gun.

Chima laughed, pointed the gun at his head, and “Boom” blood splattered everywhere.

Mama rose up from the ground, crying and screaming at Chima. Chima pointed the gun at her too, smiled an evil smile, and shot her too.

He turned to me, and as he pointed the gun at me he mouthed the words,

“It’s your turn.”

I woke up from my dream panting hard.

Someone was at the door knocking. I took time to comport myself, as the dream still made me shocked but the person knocking was persistent. As I opened the door, Chima’s smiling face crossed my eyes before someone hit me hard on the head and I fainted…
