Episode 16

Chima was shivering now, his fingers twitched nervously.

“How long have she been tied up like this?” the governor asked him angrily.

“I don’t know. I … umm….I think”

The Governor pointed at two of his guards, and ordered them to cut the ropes I had been tied with. Chima tried to come with them to help, but the governor’s angry voice stopped him.

“Mr man, I didn’t ask you to do anything ”

As Chima stood, ashamed, and rooted to a spot, the bindings that held me was cut, and I nearly slumped forward from the lack of blood circulation around some parts of my body. The Governor caught me, and helped me to the recliner Chima had prepared for him.

The Governor asked Chima to come closed then.

“Do you know she has your baby inside her?,” he asked.

Chima bent his head, and nodded slightly.

“And a baby doesn’t mean a single thing to you even if a woman is nothing to you?”

Chima stood, ashamed, and unable to answer.

The governor turned towards me,

“I’m really sorry if you had to suffer like this because of me. Though, you don’t have to worry about Chima anymore.”

I was about to ask the Governor what he meant by that, when I saw him pull a silver-lined pistol out, and the resonating sound of gunshot bounced around the abandoned building.

China stood there, his hands shaking, as he brought his palms to cover a spot on his stomach that was bright red with blood. His eyes were welling up with tears as the blood spread all over him. He dropped to one knee, stared the Governor in the eyes, and muttered the words,

“I curse you. I curse you to die on this same day you killed me.”

The Governor pointed the gun at his head, and blew him off.

I sat there shaking as I watched Chima’s limp body that had its head blown off drop, dead, lifeless and powerless.

The Governor smiled and turned to me again,

“Well, that nuisance is gone”

I turned to look at him, and all I could see was a bigger monster. A monster that could kill at any moment..
