Val Diary Series

Episode 17

I picked up my miserable self, collected my phones from the officer that seized them before going after my mother. But on getting outside, one of the policemen standing guard told me that she already has left with her driver. I just didn’t know what to do that moment. I simply stood like a moulded figure clueless on the direction to head.

I desperately wanted to sit down and explain things to my mother. I so much wanted her to believe that i did nothing with Tessy but of course she won’t believe me. No one would, not with my history, my nauseating past. I was just totally confused, ashamed and down. The hot words my mother used on me, slowly burned my heart as i remembered every word.

One of my phones beeped that moment, notifying me of a text message, i eagerly opened my phone to see three text messages waiting for me and they were all from Tessy.
“VAL I HOPE YOU ARE FINE, WHERE ARE YOU??” read the first message…….

“VAL ANSWER ME PLEASE, I’M DYING OF WORRY. I PROMISE I WILL COME GET YOU” was the second message…….

“VAL I’M NOW ON MY WAY TO ABUJA TO PROTECT MY KIDS. I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND?. PLEASE CALL ME” was the third message she left me… I couldn’t reply nor call her back. I wasn’t in the mood to talk to her.

I finally returned to my apartment in Owerri, to rest and figure out a way to settle things with my mother. I desperately needed to relax and calm my head but unfortunately for me, barely two minutes after i got to my apartment, my phone rang and it was no other person than Adaora calling.

My heart instantly flew as i stared at my ringing phone, too scared to answer it and when i finally did answer, Adaora’s voice told me that all wasn’t well.

“Val” she called, but i couldn’t say a word. I couldn’t find my voice. It was as if my mouth was sealed that moment.
“Val” she called again but i still was unable to say anything.

“Val i guess you know why i called?. It’s over. Good bye” she said coldly and hung up while my heart instantly shattered into pieces. It pained me more because i actually didn’t sleep with Tessy contrary to all everyone thought and unfortunately “GOODBYE” was the saddest and last word i heard from Adaora that ended it all……

Of course she wasn’t close anymore for me to use my charms on her nor did i have my mother’s influence to save me this time. I needed no telling that it finally was over between Adaora and I.
