Val Diary Series

Episode 18

I was still struggling with my thoughts when my phone rang once again and it was Tessy calling this time.

At first i felt like ignoring the call but later changed my mind and answered it.
“Val is it you?” she asked with a concerned tone,
“yes good morning” i answered.
“oh thank God, you can’t imagine how anxious and concerned i have been since yesterday. So tell me, what happened?, where did he take you?” she asked anxiously while i took my time in telling her all that happened to me. She listened silently and sighed when i was done with my narration.
“wicked man” she breathed,
“can you believe he took away my kids?” she poured out with a sad tone. I swallowed hard not knowing what to say.

Just like i expected, my fears concerning her future were slowing happening.

“he showed up at the house this morning with some government officials and the police. They just came in and took my kids as if they were little fowls. I’m finished. I just don’t know what to do” she cried over the phone, sobbing so deeply.

I ended up, keeping my own worries aside and calming her the best way i could. Just like i feared, she told me she will be coming down to Owerri in a couple of days to see me.
“we really do have a lot to talk Val” she said before hanging up.

The twin girl showed up at exactly 11am, with lots of disturbing questions she asked me. I really was surprised to learn that she already was aware that Tessy wasn’t with her kids anymore and equally knew some details about the events of the previous day. Of course i asked her where she got all the information from, but not after telling her every bit of my story with Tessy, Adaora and my family. For the first time i sort of confided in her in a way i have never done before..
“you shouldn’t be surprised with all i know concerning the current situation. You already know my family has strong ties with Tessy” she kind of explained with a smile, holding my left hand…

“you know, no one will believe that you never slept with Tessy after spending the night with her but to be sincere i believe your mum is more angry and concerned that you passed the night with an older lady with kids and it’s not exactly about you engaging in sexual pleasure with her. Your mum loves you and i can bet she’s down with grief right now. You are her only male child and you know what that means. Anyway i promise that i will help you get back her trust and do whatever necessary to make you happy, because i trust you and i believe you. Concerning about Adaora, I don’t think relationship with her can ever recover because the trust is no longer there. Give me a hug my dear” she said so sweetly, throwing herself on me.

I was so much taken aback with surprise and a new kind of feeling generated in my troubled heart…
