Episode 28

Lily’s POV

“Are you sure you want to do it at my place?” I asked, as Klarissa and I walked out of school together and headed the way that I go home.

“Yeah! I’ve never seen your house before, or met your mum. It’ll be nice,” Klarissa said excitedly.

She had told me all about what had happened last night at her place, and that because of it, it wouldn’t be the nicest place to be when planning our idea to expose Daryl.

So instead, I had invited her to my place. It was time for her to know. It was time for me to open up.

“It will be nothing like you’re thinking,” I said. She stopped smiling when she saw my sad face.

While we walked, I decided to start telling her the truth about me, so that she wouldn’t be so shocked when she saw my house.

“I’m not from Sydney,” I said.

“What?” She asked, questioningly.

“I grew up in this area, but my childhood was extremely rocky,” I continued.

“What do you mean?” Klarissa asked, concern in her eyes.

“I grew up homeless on the streets,” I wiped a tear from my eye with my hand, as we approached the hill that my house was on and started to walk up the rocky, gravely path towards it.

“Really?” She asked. She sounded shocked.

“And I’ve never really had a home. This is the only home I’ve ever had,”

I opened the door of the house as we reached it, and she followed me in.

“Oh my god,” she said, taking in the sight of what must have looked like a mess to her, compared to her house it was a dump.

“Lily,” She said, her eyes watering.

“You grew up on the streets? This is your first home?”

I nodded. She seemed to be having trouble taking it all in. Tears began to roll from her eyes.

“Why did you hide all this?” She asked.

“I was ashamed,” I said.

“I thought you wouldn’t like me,”

“Well you’re wrong,” she said, looking at me.

“Nothing could ever stop me from liking you,”

“And there’s more I need to tell you,” I said, taking her hand.

“But maybe we should go out the front, because mum is sleeping,” I said.

She looked around, noticing the sick figure of my sleeping mother for the first time.

I lead her out the front, and we sat down on an old bench.

Our fingers still interlocked, I told her everything. About how my mum was raped, how we wound up on the streets, about her sickness, how I would be getting fostered, how we got the house and the opportunity for me to go to school. About how what Daryl did to me scarred me because I knew that was how I was conceived, and that mum had been through that exact experience.

By the time I was done, the sun was going down, and we had both been crying.

“Thank you for telling me the truth about your life. Even if it isn’t the prettiest,” Klarissa said, smiling.

“Did you really, truly believe that I wouldn’t want anything to do with you because of all this?”

I nodded; “I thought I’d lose you if you knew. I didn’t think you’d want a friend with a life as messy as mine,”

“Oh, Lily,” She said.

“I’m so in love with you that none of this bothers me. I’m in love with everything about you,”

My heart beat fast. Did she really love me?

“Really?” I asked.

She nodded, blushing.

“I’m in love with you too,” the words rolled off my tongue much easier than I thought they would.

My heart began to beat fast, and the butterflies began to soar as she hugged me firmly.

I was in her arms. There was no other place in the world I would rather be. Her hands ran up and down my back, and my head rested comfortably on her shoulder.

She pulled back after a while, her eyes shining at me in the near-darkness of the night. She was radiating something warm.

Love, I think it was. I could feel it against her body as she pulled me closer, capturing my lips against hers. The feeling that spread throughout my body was wild.

I giggled against her lips as I pulled back, and she put her hands into my long hair, pulling my face back against hers. I savoured every feeling. The taste of her soft lips against mine, the way that my boobs were pressed against hers, and the way it made me feel. My body was full of warmth.

She sighed, and ran her tongue along my lips. I opened my mouth as she slid it in, and wrapped my arms around her waist. She started to let out a soft, steady moan as our tongues ran together. I didn’t know whether I was doing it right, but I was too caught up in the moment to care. Every issue in my life had disappeared, even if only for a few minutes.

She pulled back, breathing heavily.

“Don’t stop,” I said, pulling her body back against mine.

She breathed heavily, as her tongue made its way back into my mouth, and we went much quicker this time.

I could feel the butterflies much more vividly now, towards a part of my body where I had never felt them before. I moaned a little, as her hands ran along my bare arms. The sound was embarrassing, but I didn’t care. It was the only way to express my overwhelming delight.

After a few more minutes, Klarissa pulled back, breathless.

“I don’t think we can call each other just friends after that,” she said, her nose against mine.

“I don’t think I want to,” I said, smiling.

“Let’s make this official.” Klarissa said, shrugging.

“Girlfriends?” I asked.

Klarissa nodded. I smiled, blushing a deep red in the darkness.

“Can we do that again?” I asked.

“I would love to,”

And soon my hands were in her short hair, and our lips were pressed together again. The butterflies were going wild as she moaned against my lips. I didn’t want to stop kissing her. Ever.

Klarissa was my girlfriend.
