Episode 17

Eliana’s POV

Finally, Monday.

You’re probably wondering what am I so happy about? Who likes Mondays? 2

“Monday” means I’m leaving the house. 2

Casey, who ignored my initial attempts to wake her up, at this point showed up in a dining room with slumped shoulders, in an oversized, white T-shirt and black jeans. Her mood was so gloomy I wouldn’t be surprised if the cloud with rain appeared over her head any minute now. 10

She dropped on a chair as if it was a punishment to simply exist. I’m sure she was still frustrated about what occurred yesterday. I could tell the meeting with Rafael put her in the mood that signified she can explode any moment now. 2

Vincenti brothers looked like models that are ready to go on a photo shoot for a fashion magazine at any moment. It wasn’t a compliment, just a simple observation.

It was 7 am. This shouldn’t be legal.

Of course, they were in different states of readiness to leave the house. Rafael was the most prepared, seated at the front of the table with a cup of coffee in his hand already in his black suit. 1

Then there was Milo whose hazel hair was neatly combed, he wore a maroon blazer with an emblem on his chest, a tie of the same color, and beige pants.

Remi’s hair, on the other hand, was completely in disarray, his jacket slung over the kitchen chair, his shirt was wrinkled and unevenly buttoned.

The table was piled with various products. Fresh bread, croissants, homemade jams, and creams made of three types of chocolate are stored in small jars next to the fruit bowl.

“Casey you’re not allowed to leave the home or school grounds without your sister’s permission. You will be driving to school and coming back with Milo or Remi” Rafael instructed.

“Sweet, it means we’re serving as her chauffeurs now,” Remi said sarcastically and sent Casey a hateful look.

“Do you have a problem with that?” Rafael asked, seemingly kind voice but there was underlying threat in it.

“No,” Remi muttered properly subdued, any other answer would get him in a shit tone of trouble.

“Good” Rafael seemed to be pleased with that response.

“Excuse me what? Eliana, can you tell your man to get off my case? By the way, I’m going to enroll in a normal school, not some school for snobs” Casey glanced with disgusted expression at the uniform that Milo was wearing. 3

“You will be going to school you’re admitted to” Rafael said calmly.

“I really need you to fuck off. Eliana control your man” Casey said, angrily. 26

“Hey little girl, did you just raise your voice at my brother and told him to fuck off? Are you stupid or something?” Remi asked in a dangerous voice. 23

“I sure as hell did. Do you have hearing troubles?” She asked defiantly, leaning towards him. 1

Remi in response flicked her on the nose. 1

“Ouch” She squealed as she jumped back and grabbed the aching tip of her nose. 42

“Remi, sit down for God’s sake” Rafael sighed.

I covered my face with my hands.

“Why should I?” Remi asked. 2

“Sorry about her. Casey is a bit … ” I started saying.

“Of a brat?” Milo asked with clear irritation. 1

“Eliana, stop apologizing for your sister. She’s sixteen, not six if she felt sorry for her behavior she would tell us” Rafael informed. 6

“As if. I’m not at all sorry” Casey said.

“See? She’s not sorry” Rafael pointed out. Then paused for a moment more and glanced at Remi.

“And you get yourself presentable. You won’t go to school in that crumpled shirt”

“Fine,” Remi muttered and stood up with a heavy sigh to move towards his room.

Third-person POV

In a garage full of expensive cars, another battle took place, this time it was just Casey vs Milo and Remi. 8

“I’m not going anywhere with you,” Casey said rebelliously.

“Holy shit, I think we have a problem, little girl. What makes you think you’re allowed to speak to us like that?” Milo asked in disbelief.

“Leave me alone,” Casey replied. “I will just take a bus” she said grumpily.

“You’re starting to seriously piss me off. Just do as we say and we will have no problem,” Remi warned as he approached her. 2

“In your dreams” Casey said backing away.

“You want another nose flick?” Remi challenged. 1

“Don’t you dare!” Casey yelled taking another step back just to be safe.

“You know your dear sister and our older brother are not here, who will save you from us?” Milo asked in quiet voice.

“I don’t need someone to save me, I can handle you both alone” Casey said with unexplainable certainty. 4

Remi smiled and Milo rolled his eyes.

“We accept the challenge. You want war, you will have it, just don’t blame us, if it ends up with you crying” Remi warned.

“You will be the one who ends up crying,” Casey promised coldly.

“That’s a good one,” Milo chuckled lightly. Remi on the other hand got a laughing fit.

Let’s see who’s going to be laughing last.

Casey decided that it would be in her best interest to go to school. Not that she was a fan of the institution, but social services were watching her and Eliana’s every move lately. 9

Milo took Casey to the secretary’s office where she received her class schedule.

“Miss Jenkins. Your contact number person is Eliana Snow can you give me her current phone number?”

“Wait. Why do you and your sister have different surnames?” Milo asked in confusion.

“We’re not biologically related. She was adopted by my parents” Casey explained.

“And her surname is Snow?” Milo repeated in realization. “Is Eliana related to Harvey Snow?” He asked sharply as they left the office.

“Why are you asking?” Casey was surprised by his questioning.

“Just answer” Milo responded, looking impatient.

“Yes? It’s her uncle. What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Casey said. 1

“It’s nothing. Unimportant” Milo grumped out.

“How do you know Harvey?” Casey wanted to clarify her question.

“Go to your class” Milo instructed sharply.

“Explain yourself first” Casey insisted.

“Go to your fucking class!” Milo blew up unexpectedly. It made Casey jump in fear.

“Mr. Vincenti, what is that vocabulary ?! To my office!” Shouted the headmaster who had just appeared in the corridor.

Fuck.

Eliana’s POV

It was crazy to me that in six months I would be able to use my parents’ money.

However, I was terrified of the thought that my parents’ company would be in my hands. What if I lose it all? I don’t know anything about leading the company. I will have to hire someone who knows all about this, but can I trust this person?

A boy with red hair and intense green eyes walked me into the store and gave me a radiant smile.

I smiled back at him in return.

“Hey, I’m Mike, I came from the job interview” 5

“Thomas is in the staff room,” I told him where the manager was and pointed to the staff’s half-open door.

After 15 minutes, the conversation was over and Thomas appeared with Mike to introduce me to my new co-worker.

“Eli, this is Mike. I need to take care of something today but I trust you will be capable of showing him how everything works”

“Of course. Nice to meet you, Mike. I’m Eliana” I introduced myself by shaking his hand.

“Well then I will be on my way “

“Already leaving?”

“See ya on Saturday!” 4

This one always has something to do.

“Did you get the store uniform from Thomas?”

Mike shook his head. “Okay, I’ll find you something. What’s your size?”

After he responded I started looking for an appropriate set of clothes. “Are you hired full-time?”

“No, it’s a part-time job. I’m a college student”

“Oh, what’s your major? “I asked trying to keep the conversation going.

“Computer science” 7

I was just explaining to Mike how the shift calendar works when Ethan walked into the store.

At first, I thought I was hallucinating. No, it can’t be he couldn’t just come to my place of work oh shit.

“What are you doing here?” I asked as I stepped back from him and already planning my escape route.

My cousin, Ethan, was here.
