After I received the distress message from my Royal messenger, I decided to go out and console the people.. Its my job to so do… I have to ensure them that everything would be fine… I have to let them know I’m aware of their predicament.

After the chariot was prepared, I took my best Royal guards to accompany to the city, Regarding how frantic the masses were, I made sure Security was tight and there was no any means of threat what so ever.

As I rode through the streets of Marida, I saw how the people were… They certainly weren’t happy and I felt sorry for them.. Immediately we got to the center of the city which was close to the market, I came out and addressed the people. Immediately they saw me, they all gathered around to hear what I had to say, the Royal guards made sure there was quite enough space from me and the people.

Mustapha Greetings people of Marida…. I come out here to let you know that I’m aware of the situation you’re in and its not easy… Try to bear with me.. I promise you things will be better again…..

Most of the people were happy about my decision, They were happy that they could now afford some things for themselves and their children, it was a joy for me seeing the smiles on people face.

But while I was caught up in that moment, Something strange happened… Out of nowhere a woman appeared, throwing stones at me and the Royal guards, she was busy insulting me in the process as well.

Safina You b*stard… You’ve ruined my life…. I’ll never forgive you… Your end will be brutal and full of misery…

The woman kept throwing stones at us, and she was getting more and more out of control, Then all of a sudden, Tragedy struck!

One of the Royal guards mistakenly shot an arrow towards the woman, The arrow went straight into the woman’s chest… The woman stopped looking at me in shock before falling to the ground… Out of nowhere, she was held by a young fellow and from the look on his face, I could tell, she was someone special to him.. Maybe she was his mother… The poor individual held the woman talking to her, as tears dropped from his eyes.. I felt sorry for him.. I rebuked the Royal guard and asked why he shot the arrow.

Mustapha You fool… Look at what you’ve done…. Why did you engage?

Royal guard I’m sorry, your highness.. I didn’t mean it… Besides, she caused it.. That wh*re should have stayed out of way.

Just then, Something happened.. The young fellow laid the woman on the ground and removed the arrow from her chest… He charged towards us with speed aiming the arrow at the Royal guard.. Before the royal guard could react.. He was stabbed severely to death with the arrow, The others charged towards the young fellow trying to grab hold of him… But to my utmost surprise, the boy reacted quickly and with such swiftness, taking the dead Royal guard’s spear swinging it with such ease at the Royal guards, he knocked out two and injured one.. Seeing he couldn’t out match them all, he rushed at me with blinding rage as he aimed the spear at me… I was too terrified to move or do anything, I just stood still shaking with fear..

Then as quickly as lightening, the young fellow threw the spear straight towards me, with amazing accuracy, but fortunately for me.. The gods intervened saving my life… While the boy was throwing the spear, he had missed his step making him to change the trajectory of his aim,… The spear swung past me, brushing my ear..

I saw the look of disappointment in the boy’s eyes… Before he could take another step, he was held down by the royal guards, They began to beat him mercilessly, kicking and punching him, the boy covered his face as he received the blows,… After they were done.. They held him tight stretching out his neck… One of the Royal guards brought out his sword and was about to severe the boy’s head… Before the sword could land, I stopped the Royal guard!

Mustapha I said Enough… Take him to the dungeons… Don’t touch him again.

Everyone was surprised by what I did but it wasn’t that obvious cause when the boy was being held, I noticed a ruby on his necklace… I knew that ruby.. And the person I gave that ruby was long gone… Where could he have gotten it from.. In that moment, I had a very terrible realization…. That woman was the boy’s mother.. Could she be…. Impossible… No.. It can’t be..

I came down from the chariot and went to where the woman’s body laid.. I bent down and stared at her face.. Immediately I saw her, my heart jumped.. I couldn’t believe it.. It was my favorite concubine.. Safina..

My body froze when I realized she was the one lying down here dead like a rat in the streets.. I couldn’t think straight.. I thought she was living a better life.. I gave her that ruby so she could start a new life.. But why didn’t she sell the ruby and that boy is her son… So who’s the father.. Where is the father?

Just then, I had another terrifying realization… I remembered what Laila told me when I lasted visited her… She said the real heir and son of mine was roaming the streets of Marida… Could this boy be my son? But Safina didn’t tell me she was with child.. If I knew that, I would have protected her some how..

I hated myself at that moment..

For being so weak and irresponsible… It was my fault this lovely woman died like this.. And now I have a son that will probably hate me for the rest of his life..

After a while, I ordered the guards to carry Safina’s corpse and give her a fitting burial, in the palace.. She deserves to get a proper burial… The guards took her body and went straight to the palace.
